Let the Wookiee Win: An August Solo Adventure! *Updated 11/17*

WOW!!! Your picture of the floating mountain with sunset colors is just spectacular!!!
Thank you! I think it was my favorite of the whole trip ::yes::

Having just experienced both for the first time, I agree with your descriptions.
:thumbsup2

That is awesome that you made friends in the FoP line- It would be cool to pass the time with Universal team members.
It really was. Definitely made the time go faster!

That is funny that you saw someone you knew IRL.
It was just too funny! What are the chances?!

I liked the Frozen queue line- 30 minutes is about the perfect amount there.
Agreed.

I also think of it as El Rio de Tiempo. I miss that version. The ducks don't do it for me, amigo!
I also miss that version. I miss lots of things that Disney has decided to "upgrade" or do away with (looking at you, Great Movie Ride )

Now La Hacienda is our new darling Mexican joint.
Ooooh, I must keep this in mind as I haven't been yet.

My first (and only)(and long-anticipated) Schoolbread was dry, too, and I haven't bothered to try it again.
What a disappointment!

Wandering aimlessly and sipping on bubble tee sounds amazing to me!
It really does... wish I was doing so right now!

It has been a while since I dined at 50's prime time, but I still remember how good that friend chicken is!!!
YES!!! Delish :thumbsup2

Oh yum we've got ressy's for 50PTD. I've been craving that Fried Chicken since reading it in a TR, now I know to get it with the Onion Rings
Yay!!! Have you been before? I just love the atmosphere here. I typically do Sci-Fi at DHS, so this was my first time and I loved it. Will definitely be back! And yes, get those onion rings!!! :thumbsup2 And have a great trip, you leave so soon! :goodvibes

And for anyone who remembers... if I were to have children, Marceline would be my daughter's name... :rolleyes1

Ooh I like this a lot!!

Before leaving, I got this fun shot with Carmelo. As you can see, he was loads of fun and really made this experience wonderful for me.

Awesome!! Cast members can totally make an experience!
Up Next: the Wookiee wins :chewy:

Oooh, I'm intrigued. I've been waiting for this story.

::yes::

And??? AND????????
What did you think????

You'd never steer me wrong!

Apparently @pkondz knows his stuff! This looked tasty!

Perfect name, isn't it?!

They really can :goodvibes

Oooh, I'm intrigued. I've been waiting for this story.
Oooh, hope it doesn't disappoint!

He really does! ::yes:: And he's there as we speak... maybe even eating this exact meal :rotfl:

Whoa, where did this TR come from? Lol, sorry I am late to the party, but yay for another solo trip!
:rotfl2: Happy to have you here! Solo trips are awesome!

Looks great, I'm itching to return, but hopefully next year. I keep telling myself I should pay off some things, but then keep reminding myself that life is short!
I'm itching to return the moment I am off property... I'm sure you feel the same! That's my constant dilemma - LIFE IS SHORT! But... I have all these bills here waiting for my attention :sad2:

This will be our first time there, looking forward to it.
Yay! So excited for you :thumbsup2

When last we left off, I was doing what I do best... wandering aimlessly around World Showcase, beverage in hand. :cloud9:
Hey, what do you know this is one of my talents too :-)

The fabulous Carmelo was my server and he truly was FABULOUS. I ordered a PBJ shake which was unbelievably delicious, and fried chicken with onion rings, per a demand - I mean polite suggestion - from @pkondz. As you can see, I also got corn, but that part wasn't overly memorable apparently

Fried on fried on fried!!!! Now that sounds like my kind of meal.

At 4:30 I left and walked into Indiana Jones which was scheduled to start at 4:45. It was a great show, I really do enjoy seeing this every couple trips. I'm obsessed with "Tim" in the beginning and love watching the guests who don't yet understand his role ;)

disney-august-2017-203-jpg.281779
I clearly haven't seen this show in a while and need to correct that as I have no idea what the Tim reference is.

Awesome to have a fun waiter!

I found that the staff here was amazing to me as a solo guest but there were definitely fellow guests who insisted on staring. :confused3 Not to worry, I had my trusty copy of Revenge of the Sith to keep me company :thumbsup2
I don't get this. Half the time you look around the other tables and the people aren't talking to each other and just looking at there phones...

Sounds like another great day so far!

I have yet to dine here but it's high on my list! Anyone else have opinions about San Angel?

I LOVED San Angel when we ate there 2 years ago. We had excellent service, our waiter was just outstanding, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere is something that you can't get anywhere else. I know it gets mixed reviews but I would eat there again in a heart beat. I highly recommend it!

I'm so glad to hear that! It's just so pretty and I think I'd love the ambiance. So happy to hear you had such a great experience! :thumbsup2

I'm Still Alive!
Or... what the final month of the semester has felt like

Hi, friends! While I've been doing my best to keep up with your TRs, I haven't done the same with mine these days. :headache: As you may remember, I'm working on my master's degree in library and information science and, while this semester has been a really good one, it has not been without logging some serious homework hours. :sad2: I know @MeghanEmily feels my pain. On top of that, let's just say my personal life has demanded a bit more of my time these last several months and there's a chance my spring trip may not be a solo one :rolleyes1 (though in many ways, I may very well miss my solo time).

Anywho... my family trip is approaching the 3 week mark and I thought I'd do a quick update about that now. :thumbsup2

The Who (not that one): Me!, both my sisters, my sister's husband, son, and daughter, my dad, my dad's girlfriend, and two of his girlfriend's daughters. If you're keeping track, that's 10 of us! I don't think we're quite at @chunkymonkey's August numbers, but still a large number all the same! (especially for this solo tripper!)

My sister Kelly, brother-in-law Joe, GiGi, and Dominic - can you tell who the priorities are based on this picture? :rotfl2:

IMG_5159.JPG
Ahh, there's a shot where all faces are included. Here's my dad, Dominic, and Joe

IMG_5160.JPG
And Kelly and me. Is anyone else appalled I'm the only one in Disney gear?! I'll really have to get these people to step up there game... :faint:

IMG_2982.JPG

And a non-Disney (the shame!) picture of me with Ashley. To be fair, I haven't been to Disney with Ash since 2009! :confused3

I've invested a small fraction of planning time into this trip compared to my solo trips. In many ways, this trip will be a bit of a challenge for me. I'm used to going by myself, to where the wind takes me (and often it's eating around World Showcase...), and this trip will be largely a very slow-paced stroll compared to my typical speed. @pkondz - maybe more of a sashay? And, because my niece and nephew are still quite young (2 and 4), we will likely spend just two days of our entire week at Disney (with a possible third). :scared1: Additionally, I won't be spending a single minute at my beloved Epcot! :faint: However, on a separate day, we have an ADR at Chef Mickey's, so at least we'll have three days guaranteed on property :lovestruc But I am so excited for this trip as I rarely get to spend so much time with my sisters since one lives two hours away and the other an entire ocean. Here are the plans so far:

Friday, December 29-Friday, January 5

Saturday, December 30: Animal Kingdom

9:30-9:45 FP FOTLK
11:15-12:15 FP Dinosaur (the only ride where I was selfish in choosing FPs :rolleyes1)
12:30-1:30 FP Kilimanjaro Safaris

Monday, January 1: Magic Kingdom
9:00-10:00 FP Meet Cinderella and Elena at Princess Fairytale Hall
10:25-11:25 FP Buzz
12:25-1:25 FP Barnstormer

Thursday, January 4: Chef Mickey's @ 1:35

IMG_5188.JPG
Dominic and me at last year's Chef Mickey's extravaganza

We may also go to Disney on Wednesday, January 3, but I'm not going to count on it, just so my hopes aren't up!

My 4 year old nephew absolutely LOVED Disney last year, so I'm expecting he'll be in heaven the whole time. My niece was a bit overwhelmed last year so I'm hoping a year older she'll be more into it. I know they'll both love the princesses.

IMG_5163.JPG
Dominic and me on Dumbo

IMG_5173.JPG
The pure joy in this child's face as we watch the parade! :lovestruc

I've lost track of how many times I've been to Disney and can you believe this is the very first time I've ever linked up and made FPs for more than just myself!?

I know many of you will be in the parks during this time, too! I know @Pluto0809 and @xlsm and I believe @MeghanEmily. I'm also fairly certain @xlsm will be at MK on the same day I am :thumbsup2 So lemme know if anyone is interested in meeting up! While it may be hard for me to break away, I will do my darndest if it means meeting more Dis pals

My sister Ashley (the one who is not the mother to my niece and nephew ) is due to arrive from London tomorrow night!!! So... though my semester ends on Sunday, 90% of my free time will be swiftly replaced with something much more fun! :snooty:

The next August 2017 update from me will likely be post-Disney once my sister (sniff, sniff ) returns to England. Until then, I'll do my best to keep up with your TRs!

Thanks for joining! :goodvibes

Hi, friends! While I've been doing my best to keep up with your TRs, I haven't done the same with mine these days.

I know just how you feel.

On top of that, let's just say my personal life has demanded a bit more of my time these last several months and there's a chance my spring trip may not be a solo one :rolleyes1

Oh? Yessss???????

The Who (not that one):

too bad. They're awesome.

My sister Kelly, brother-in-law Joe, GiGi, and Dominic - can you tell who the priorities are based on this picture? :rotfl2:

:laughing: ::yes::

And Kelly and me. Is anyone else appalled I'm the only one in Disney gear?! I'll really have to get these people to step up there game... :faint:

I'm sure you will! :)

and this trip will be largely a very slow-paced stroll compared to my typical speed. @pkondz - maybe more of a sashay?

Sashaying is an art form.

Additionally, I won't be spending a single minute at my beloved Epcot! :faint:

 It almost sounded like you were saying you weren't going to go to Epcot.
Obviously that can't be true!

But I am so excited for this trip as I rarely get to spend so much time with my sisters since one lives two hours away and the other an entire ocean.

Awww.... that's really great that you're going to spend time together.

So lemme know if anyone is interested in meeting up!

If only I could. Someday!

;)

I know just how you feel.
I know you do, my friend.

Oh? Yessss???????
We shall see... ;)

too bad. They're awesome.
Yes! I was hopeful that wouldn't be lost :thumbsup2

I'm sure you will! :)
Will do my best!

Sashaying is an art form.
It truly is.

 It almost sounded like you were saying you weren't going to go to Epcot.
Obviously that can't be true!
:faint: It is!

Awww.... that's really great that you're going to spend time together.
I'm so excited! We probably haven't had a solid week together since we all moved out of our parents' house

If only I could. Someday!
Mark my words - it WILL happen! I will make sure of it :thumbsup2

As you may remember, I'm working on my master's degree in library and information science and, while this semester has been a really good one, it has not been without logging some serious homework hours. :sad2: I know @MeghanEmily feels my pain.

Oh, I SO feel you, here! I'm heading in to my first exam in about 20 minutes. The time-consuming nature of school is incredibly real.

On top of that, let's just say my personal life has demanded a bit more of my time these last several months and there's a chance my spring trip may not be a solo one :rolleyes1 (though in many ways, I may very well miss my solo time).

Oooohhh...I'll be keeping an eye out for more news here...

I don't think we're quite at @chunkymonkey's August numbers, but still a large number all the same! (especially for this solo tripper!)

WOW! You'll have to have your own versions of the "chunky boat," "chunk safari," etc!!

Oh yay! We'll be Animal Kindom on the 30th! I'm sure we'll both be busy, but I'd love to catch you for a quick hello. Maybe before you start your day at FOTLK, or before your safari FP (we have a FP there that expires at 12:05, I think.) We'll have to be in touch!

Congrats on finishing up the semester! Its been a long time since I've been in school, but the feeling of finishing that last project or walking out of the last exam is something like getting off that plane in Orlando and taking that train ride to the terminal.

Have a great time in January! I'm sure it'll be a nice break from winter.

I see no Flight of Passage in your FP's, which isn't surprising based on how hard they are to get. It wouldn't hurt to occasionally try again...you probably won't have any luck, but you never know. And when you're there, it wouldn't hurt to try for it with the 4th FP. Odds are low, but you never know.

Also, make sure you try Satu'li Canteen!

Yes I will be there but not for your first two days. On Thursday we will be at HS all day after I finish the 5K so I'm hoping we can work something out!
