This Is Us- Season two

I liked that they showed William making the decision to not be in Randall's life; that it was his choice to be part of it or not. Along with that he was able to share that decision with Randall before he died. Things came full circle such that Randall had to make that choice for Deja too.

Yes. That is great writing, storyline decisions.

Important conversations where - although we are seeing the same time period - we weren't privy to hearing. I like that. :thumbsup2

I also loved when Randall was thinking about that conversation with William. I loved how they showed the "what could have been" with William in Randalls life for the big moments like his birthday and graduation. Then he realized it was better to walk away.

I don't know what it was last night but I could not keep my eyes off the man. Maybe you're right, wenrob. Men get so much better with age.

I didn't really know her age, just that she was a teenager. :goodvibes Simply meant that she's not that far from being able to make her own decisions about who she has in her life. Do not mean moving in with them, just having contact.

I really enjoyed the actress playing her, probably just wishful thinking on my part.

Yes.
Love some gray at the temples. Always have.

Sterling K Brown said in the aftershow that he didn’t want to do that goodbye scene because it wasn’t just Randall saying goodbye to Deja but Sterling saying goodbye to Lyric (the girl who played her). She’s a great actress and really had chemistry with the cast. I’ll miss her too.

I love William. I’m so happy he has that talk with Randall. I always felt it was wrong for Randall to be mad that his mom didn’t let his father in his life. She was his mother and did what she felt was best. I’m glad William respected that and recognized it and let Randall know.

Good discussion guys. I’m glad it kept up in my absense.

The episode was a while ago so I don’t remember every little part but the Kevin focused episode was the favourite of the three for me. Maybe because I relate to him the most.

I didn’t catch the ‘game over’ foreshadowing, good eye on those who did.

Jack is such a good dad, and a good person in general. It will gut me when he dies, especially since I had a nightmare about losing my dad a few days ago. I just can’t get it out of my head.

Does anyone know when the show is coming back? I hope it’s not February or March..way too long to wait.

I just saw something on Facebook and also a tv commercial saying that This is Us returns January 9th. I don't know why it changed from January 2nd.

We'll have to keep an eye on that. I read an article somewhere that the producer said there are some very serious episodes coming up. One where everyone is at a therapy session with Kevin after he enters rehab (!!!) and another where Randall returns to Memphis to reacquaint himself with his extended family.

From Cinema Blend: NBC has not made an official announcement about the reason for the delay, but EW reports that a network insider has indicated that moving the episode back a week enables the show to air more episodes without a break leading up to the Winter Olympics. Winter hiatus will be a week longer, but it sounds like we'll get more episodes in a row without a break. Of course, the 2018 Winter Olympics will kick off only a month later with the opening ceremonies on February 9, so the run of episodes in a row won't be all that long. Still, having a fix of consecutive episodes ahead of the Olympics break could help soothe the sting of a hiatus.

Anyone else see the contradiction here?

Still copy/pasting from Cinema Blend: Sterling K. Brown has promised that fans will see how Jack dies within the next eight episodes, and there's a lot to be excited about.

Excited isn't the word I would choose. Upset? yeah. There's only 8 episodes left in the season, so if they're planning to reveal Jack's death this season, it will have to be within the next 8 episodes.

How can Randall "reacquaint himself with his extended family" when he's never met them?

He did meet them. When he went on the road trip with William.

I think that's the episode where William was so happy with Randall and his family all laughing together.

Yes, they went into the bar in Memphis where William used to sing. He reconciled with his cousin, who he sang in a band with (cousin was mad because they were on the brink of hitting it big and William went to be with his sick mother.)

Randall was sitting at a table and was so happy to meet all these family members, and William and his cousin got on stage to sing. I remember Randall stood up and started pointing at the people at his table saying, "you have a cousin, and YOU have a cousin, and YOU have a cousin........everybody's got a cousin!" It was a fantastic episode.

I was with you until you said it was a fantastic episode. It’s the one that ends with William dying and me ugly crying on the couch lol

Me too - but it was exceptionally well done. I'm worried the episode with Jack's death will be just as well done... meaning I will be an ugly crying mess again. lol

OMG I loved it. I never felt so much emotion over a show before. I miss William terribly, he was my favorite character on the show, but I thought it was so well done. The flashbacks of them almost making it big, the emotion of Randall dealing with Williams death, William "meeting" Jack at the tree. The humor at the beginning when they were trying to convince Beth to let them go. The whole thing was so incredibly well done IMO, the really honored William. I have never felt so involved in a tv show before, and that to me is the sign of an excellent episode.

I agree that it was an excellent episode up until it was the worst lol
