Yesterday we got word that a senior boy at my DD's university hung himself the night before. Everyone, especially his fraternity brothers and friends, is devastated by this. I am praying for his friends and especially his family during this unimaginable time of loss. What makes a young person who seemingly has everything to live for do this?????

I talked to both my children to stress that life is NEVER so bad that suicide is the answer. My DD responded that after every rain storm there is a rainbow. Dis friends, please hug your children tightly and remind them of this again and again.

Oh my, so sad. My heart breaks for any child that thinks suicide is the answer and more so for the family who will forever wonder why. Praying the family and friends find peace.

Same at my dd university last week and same with her friend last year from hs at his college freshmen year. horrible, tragic, epidemic.

and dd has mono, been home for a few weeks now, left university to recover and has incompletes to make up. will be going with her cousin same age to wdw late jan. and i'm sure will be feeling better by then....

Shoot, I hope she feels better soon and that the work is made up without too much trouble! I bet Christmas break will help. Will she miss more school for WDW?

We are planning on DD19 missing 2 days of school in her summer semester for a WDW trip unless she decides she can't. Right now she is fine with it and happy we are not waiting another year. So far has had no trouble with her classes, getting over 100% in all so I figure no problem. Hoping she can do any work in advance.

DD's first semester final grades got loaded today. She made Dean's List with a 3.57. We are pretty happy with that!

Well, DS18 has been in California for a few days now in preparation for marching in the Rose Bowl parade. More important, however, is the fact that he is backstage at Disneyland right now and is going to be marching there. I am so jealous!

My DD was fighting getting a cold and doing good but she had a bday party here at home with friends and they were outside (calif weather) well late last night she started losing her voice. This morning she still sounds like she's losing her voice but looks ok. We've been giving her meds , throat lodges, emergen-c and honey lemon tea. Hoping it doesn't hit hard.

I told hubby having her home just seems more busy-lol! We love having her home but I think we also enjoy our quiet relaxing time-lol! I'm also fightin the throat things so hope it doesn't hit hard. I've been resting a lot.

We hit the Christmas clearance sale at wal-mart and dd bought several Christmas decorations for her dorm for next year-lol! She also found a cute fall cling decoration for .28 normally $3-$4. I hit the dollar store and found some heart red lights for her dorm. I need to start thinking about Valentine Care Package ideas.

Unfortunately, we were home in the frozen tundra that has been New England lately. Luckily there were plenty of people recording so we got to live vicariously through them.

I hope everyone is enjoying the break with their kids. DD goes back to school on Sunday - this break was too short!

She is currently trying to line up an internship for the summer and may have an interview on Thursday. We also may have a snowstorm on Thursday, so we'll see how this all plays out.

DS goes back on Sunday as well. We had him to ourselves for a whole week while we were on vacation but I haven't seen him since we got home on Sunday.

It is nice having her home for stretches between work. Yesterday we ran her new beanbag chair to her apartment since it wouldn't fit in her car. It was bigger than expected but we rearranged her room a little bit and it looks alright. She didn't really want to make the trip but eating at Texas Roadhouse helped

Tomorrow DD16 goes back to school if it's not called off for cold, so DD19 will have a couple of days at home to herself. Actually tomorrow she's planning on going to church to help Grandma and the ladies tie quilts. Grandma is excited!

Her friends have been inviting her to different places but DD doesn't feel up to it. I took her to after hour care and Doctor gave her meds for cough with codine for night, inhaler, a steroid and ibprohen but no antibotics. I might have to take her back. I go back to work next week and I'm dreading it. This break is going by fast. I wish DD wasn't sick

She ordered them all kigurumis from China on 11/20. The seller shipped right away, but they didn't get to the US till this week. The one we ordered from a different seller arrived today. The other package left Illinois just 4 hours after it, yesterday morning, but hasn't been scanned again. If they come tomorrow, her BFF can pick it up and deliver it to her Sunday on her way back to school. Hoping she can have Christmas with her roommates Monday night! She did miss them over break.

She ordered them all kigurumis from China on 11/20. The seller shipped right away, but they didn't get to the US till this week. The one we ordered from a different seller arrived today. The other package left Illinois just 4 hours after it, yesterday morning, but hasn't been scanned again. If they come tomorrow, her BFF can pick it up and deliver it to her Sunday on her way back to school. Hoping she can have Christmas with her roommates Monday night! She did miss them over break.

Thank you. Dd is doing much better. We took her back to after care last night. Dr. right away said antibotics since other meds are working and she's not better. She got the good stuff the Z-Pak. Big difference today . Took her to get labs, the mall and lunch. I hate seeing her sick but like you said its better that she was sick here than back at school in her dorm. Hopefully she doesn't get a room mate and hopefully she doesn't get sick again. I have a feeling a lot of student will be sick when they go back.

I hope the packages arrive in time. I had no idea what kigurumis are so I looked it up. It showed Japanese character onesies, if so those look pretty cool and fun

Very frustrating! That will probably be the last time I see her until college ends on April 25th. On spring break she is leaving from Boston to go to Key West with her boyfriend and his room mates- one of them has a vacation home there so they are all staying there.

Oh that sucks that the apt was canceled. My DD has an ingrown toenail and the nail looks dead like its going to fall out. Dr. told DD to make an apt so they can take it off. Dr. said two shoes and they remove the nail. Anyone know what recovery time is? It will be done in Dr. office not podiatry office probably cuz nail had lifted and pulled off??? I told dd to get it done but she wants to wait :/ She's going to a concert and doesn't want to get stepped on. She says summer she will get it done. I'm thinking really so let see what happens hopefully she will go during spring break if she can last that long. This winter break has been filled with cough, cold and flu so she needs a vacation just to cover from vacation-lol! Spring semester is going to be a full load for DD. The summer school. I hope it goes by fast. I'm ready for summer
