I missed it if it has already been decided but a while back there was discussion/rumors of a new WDW hotel that would be an immersive Star Wars experience.

Did that hotel officially get the go ahead to be built or is it still on the maybe/rumor list??? Just curious if anything official has been announced with regards to this?

Thanks

The hotel is confirmed and announced by Disney. No opening time frame yet though.

Pretty sure if they can build a hotel room that would be $119 per night any where else that they can sell form $599 a night they'll get it open sooner than later.

Is the Star Wars Hotel confirmed to be located in the cleared area (behind the old main entry road) behind the new Star Wars Land at Hollywood Studios? Old main entrance road will be reworked to be road to hotel? Image from Bioreconstruct

I don't see that happening unless they have changed the concept. The hotel is supposed to be a starship not a planet.
Yes, supposed to be like you're on a Star Destroyer, there will be a high def screen in in the room which will simulate flying over different planets in the Star Wars universe. At least that is what has been rumored.

Sort of like the virtual portholes on the Disney cruise ships

The only thing we are being told at this time is completion by 2021.

I believe I read (in a DVC Magazine) that this was a 2 day, 1 night only type of deal. It's a "story" or a "game" (think of those murder mystery dinner theatre things) where you are part of a story that lasts 2 days. And you have to talk to the employees (who are characters in the story) to get clues to solve the mystery. Or something like that. Maybe you can stay as long as you want and the story only lasts 2 days. Anyway, that's what I remember reading. Believe this at your own risk (read my signature)

The exact specifics aren't known, that the expectation is that it will be something like that - and it will be groups entering and leaving at set times .... so like a cruise ship where everyone gets on and off on the same dates. There will be the storyline or game element but it will be designed that guests can interact as much or little as they want (you won't *have* to participate if you don't want to)

$1000 for two nights sounds too low. Per night, room only stays at most of the deluxe properties cost more than that. At least $1000 per night makes sense.
