It was a Horror-ible, and then Not-So-Scary (but exhausting!), October/NovTrip!! Completed 3/13!!!

I wanted to move closer to the castle stage to watch the Hocus Pocus show. There seems to be a renewed love for they movie and this show and I wanted to see what it was all about. If you recall, I thought I had downloaded the movie to watch on the plane but I hadn't, so I still have never seen it. I guess I'll have to wait for next year. Anyway, the show was kind of cute, I guess. I wasn't really close enough to the stage to really appreciate it though. This is the best I could get with it the most zoomed in on my camera. Mike stayed where we watched the fireworks since he didn't have any interest in trying to see this show.

The parade was about to start shortly after so I just stayed where I was, I had a fairly decent vantage point for the headless horseman…

I do really like this parade and the little song was stuck in my head for days after :P

It was almost midnight and my chariot was about to turn into a pumpkin, so we headed out. I love these little scarecrows and we hadn't stopped earlier to take any pictures of them, so we stopped now. It was crowded and we were kind of rushing, so they didn't come out great.

Looking back I kind of regret not lingering longer to take more Halloween/Fall pics. You'll see why soon

We woke up to this amazing view…

It's just the perfect way to start your day

Sadly, we didn't get to experience it for very long. I got up and showered and then while Mike was getting ready, I walked over to fill our mugs with coffee. Of course, I had to take more pictures as I walked over the bridge…
bl2.jpg

mk3.jpg

But all too soon we were saying good-bye to this,
cr sign.jpg

and HELLO to this!

That certainly takes the sting out of not getting to linger with our view for very long :P

This guy was waiting for us to welcome us home :wave2:

By 10, we were walking to the monorail for our first taste of Food & Wine...

But first! We had a fastpass to get to and I get to something I had never done before, that I was super excited about!

Also, this would be amazing! :lovestruc

10:09 we were boarding monorail red...

And at 10:46 we were through security and taking pictures. Anyone else annoyed that you have to go through security twice from the Poly to EPCOT? Oh well, it didn't take very long and all the CMs were very nice. There was a security lady singing about going through security deja-vu, she had a nice voice and it was kind of funny.

Our timing was perfect, as we were squarely in our first fastpass window, and then I had a very important date to get to!

Hello, everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday! I've been busy cooking, cleaning, entertaining, driving the kids around and working. Winter Break??? What's that?? I'm ready for everything to get back to normal, though I'm always a little sad to see another Christmas in the books. One very nice thing was that here in CT we got a very pretty little bit of snow on Christmas morning, so we were able to channel our inner Bing Crosby  Here's a quick pic of how it looked here on Christmas morning…

IMG_1113.jpg

Anyway, back to the Trip Report!

We left off with Mike and I using our first FP+ and saying hello to some of @ariane37's friends…The Phoenicians…sse6.jpg

we watched Michelangelo paint the sistine chapel,
sse7.jpg

and leapt into the 1970's with this groovy chick.

Then Mike built a future for us, though I can't recall what it was we will be doing...postcard.jpg

pc.jpg

It couldn't have been too exciting since I don't even remember it, but when we got off SSE, we did something VERY exciting!

We had our very first dis-meet!

@cyndiella and I always post in the "Show me a picture of…," thread and we noticed that our dates were going to overlap so we were texting each other to make plans to meet up. It just worked out so well that she and her husband were going to be in EPCOT on our EPCOT day! So, without further ado…

Buzzrelly and Cyndiella!
cyndi.jpg

She was so sweet and her husband was telling us all about Pandora and Flights of Passage. It was so nice to spend a few minutes chatting with them both :D

After we said our good-byes, Mike and I were parched from all that chatting so we decided to head over to Club Cool…somewhere Mike had NEVER been…tee, hee, hee! Can you GUESS what happened next??

We made it over to Club Cool in no time. And of course, what do you do when you visit with an unsuspecting first-timer? You talk up the Beverly and rave about how delicious it is :rotfl:

Here are the many phases of drinking the beverly…

Unsuspecting, still happy...

Oh my! That was so much fun…for ME! Still makes me laugh looking at these screen shots! I'm glad I had the video camera going!

After I had had my fun, we stuck around a little longer to try some more soft drinks and then headed back over to The Land for our next FastPass...

Me too…I want to go back!!

Brrrrrr….we aren't hitting zero today, either! Stay warm!!

Well if you gotta give up the Contemporary, I guess the Poly will do :-)

You are so evil with Mike and the Beverly. But I love it!!!! Reminds me of when Casey had it the first time and now somehow she loves it :confused3

After we had gotten our fill of Beverly and the other lovely choices over at Club Cool, we went over to ride Soarin' for our first time since the update. I was a little nervous because I loved the original so much, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this new, updated version. It still had the music that I loved, and it had a lot of fun scents. This makeover definitely gets a thumbs up from both Mike and me :thumbsup2

the land.jpg

After our trip around the world, it was time to relax and live with the land for a bit. I like how they incorporated some of the Food & Wine festival into the ride...

Happy 35th Birthday, EPCOT!
lwtl4.jpg

After seeing how all the food is grown, we were actually getting really hungry and ready to try some treats from the festival. We started at the cheese booth (sorry, I forgot to take a picture of this sign) and got the cheese tart topped with arugula and a balsamic glaze.
quiche.jpg

THIS WAS AMAZING! It was just perfect in every way, the crust, the filling and the balsamic glaze was just perfect! Mike and I split this, but I easily could have eaten the whole thing :bitelip:

From there, we moved onto Active Eats, where we got the Loaded Mac & Cheese, Sweet Avocado Crema and a spiked seltzer...
active eats.jpgmac&cheese.jpg

The mac & cheese was amazing. My only complaint was that it was kind of a small portion and I had to share it  The avocado cream was okay…I'm glad I tried it but I wouldn't feel the need to ever have it again, and I absolutely LOVE avocados, I'm just not sure I love them in my dessert. The spiked seltzer was refreshing and went well with the mac & cheese…it was a small glass and we sucked it right down!

Since it was almost right next to it, we walked over to Coastal Eats next.coastal eats.jpg

I don't eat much seafood, but Mike got the Lump Crab Cake…
crab cake.jpg

I just asked if he would get this again and he said he doesn't really remember it, sooooooo…I don't know if we'd recommend it or not :rotfl:
I tried the little slaw under it and it was good, but obviously, people aren't going to order it for the slaw :P

Next stop, Canada!

Walking to Canada, we passed by Topiary Mickey BBQ-ing...
bbq mickey.jpg

There was one more food & wine treat I had been hearing a lot about and wanted to try...

canada.jpg

canada sign.jpg

The LeCellier Wild Mushroom Filet...
filet.jpg

This was good. The meat was pretty tender and it wasn't too mushroom-y. Plus, after all the carbs we just had, we kind of needed the protein.

Mike is Canadian and really likes to connect with his Canadian heritage when he's in EPCOT, (which I kind of don't really get because I'm Irish and I don't feel the need to go to Irish festivals or eat at Raglan Road ever :confused3 but anyway) so we hung out here for a little bit. He wanted me to take his picture and he totally got photo-bombed by this kid making a weird face:rotfl2:Mike's face is priceless…he looks so annoyed:rotfl:
photo bomb.jpg

From there, we headed over to France,

france.jpg

where we sat enjoyed our Le Passion Martini Slushes and watched Server Amusant. This is one of Mike's favorite things at WDW so I was happy we caught it starting right from the beginning. The Martini slushes were delicious and went down easily…maybe TOO easily :faint:
drinks.jpg

We had one dining credit left so we decided to split a sandwich from Les Halles, and of course, it also came with dessert so we split that too...

After all this food and the couple of alcoholic beverages, I just completely hit a wall. I know, I am a total lightweight and I could never keep up with so many of my friends on these boards…not that I'm naming names, but you know who you are :goodvibes

I absolutely needed to go back and take a nap :faint::faint::faint:, and we had gotten the text that our room at the Poly was ready. Mike didn't really want to leave, he wanted to "poke around" in some of the shops (his words…and he pokes around a lot, which sometimes makes me crazy because I am not a real poker-arounder…I am more of a go, go, go get in and get out kinda gal). I felt bad for making him leave, but I really just couldn't stay any longer, and he, being a WDW novice, was totally reliant on me for finding his way around so he didn't know if he would be able to get back to the Poly without me. I tried telling him that my kids could do it when they were 14 and 12, but he wasn't feeling all that confident, soooooo, what to do?

Would he stay or would he go? Stay tuned popcorn::

so I still have never seen it. I guess I'll have to wait for next year

Ooo yes you have to watch it!

I do really like this parade and the little song was stuck in my head for days after :P

I love the Boo To You song!

Yummy! We never got to get anything from this booth, but this looks so amazing.

The mac & cheese was amazing.

Yes it was delicious!

The Martini slushes were delicious and went down easily…maybe TOO easily :faint:

Well if you don't drink them fast they'll melt :rotfl:

Happy New Year, everyone!

Happy New Year!

YES!!!! This was my favorite thing of the festival. Glad to see I wasn't the only one who found it amazing.

Being from just West of the Chesapeake Bay I'd like to think this was good, but given that Mike couldn't remember it and how flat it is (good crab cakes are always thick because they just lump meat) I'm gonna go with not :P Clearly I'm not a crab cake snob

He wanted me to take his picture and he totally got photo-bombed by this kid making a weird face:rotfl2:Mike's face is priceless…he looks so annoyed:rotfl:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Did this kid intent to photobomb or is he just clueless and that is his normal face :P

Me! Me! I think you mean me! :P:drinking1

Happy New Year, everyone! I'm off to work in what feels like -22 degrees this morning, I just wanted to come and wish you a Happy 2018, and I hope all your Disney dreams come true!!
Happy New Year to you. Hope you are surviving the snow and cold. We didn't get much in the snow department, but this cold is insane. I don't think I've ever experienced anything so cold for so many days before

YES!!!! This was my favorite thing of the festival. Glad to see I wasn't the only one who found it amazing.

I'm hoping they have a similar version at F & G in April!

Me! Me! I think you mean me! :P:drinking1

Haha! :worship::drinking1

Happy New Year! We got buried in snow today…I haven't ventured out yet, but it looks like at least 12 inches. I should have spent the day updating my report, but I pretty much laid around all day like a lazy bum ::yes::

We are supposed to get even MORE cold weather this weekend :sad::sad:

Stay warm!!

Being from just West of the Chesapeake Bay

Here is something I bet you didn't know about the Chesapeake Bay bridge…
cbb.jpg

cbb2.jpg

"Before the bridge was built, there used to be 'fairies' that would get you across." :rotfl:

Sorry…it's all I could think of when you mentioned that and I just spent all morning looking for that picture!

Before I go on and let you all know whether or not made it out of EPCOT on his own, I want to jump back and post a couple pics that were on his camera that I finally figured out how to download yesterday…

This was that freezing cold morning in Citywalk, where i was wishing I had brought more pants on this trip :rotfl:

Mike was in love with these throwback soaps and shampoos at CBBR. He took them home and we aren't allowed to use them!

And finally, just a pretty pic from the back of Portofino where we had eaten at Sal's…
