Anyone know if you can buy creamer in any of the food courts or resort gift shops? I will have a refillable mug but I know DH and I will want coffee upon waking so I will have to make at least 2 cups before heading out for breakfast and the parks

Not sure about CoffeeMate-style creamer, but you definitely can buy a pint of half-and-half at Moana Mercantile and keep it in your fridge. I did this two weeks ago, and it lasted the whole trip. Have fun!

:flower:New owner, here; can't wait to plan my next stay. Loved this thread when we stayed at Poly the first time earlier this year.

Hi everyone!
I’m wondering if anyone has stayed at the Poly during Easter week (Easter and the following week). We usually stay at the Poly in August when the crowds are low. I am worried about the pool being people soup Easter week! Last year we stayed at the BC Easter week and although the parks were crowded, SAB was great and we had plenty of personal space in the pool! Of course SAB and the volcano pool do not even compare in size, but then again, the number of guests at the YC/BC is higher. I’m just nervous about the small fortune we are going to spend to stay at the Poly over Easter and not being able to move in the pool- or get a chair for that matter! I’d love to hear your past Easter week experiences with this! Thanks!

We were there this year the week before Easter. To us, the main pool was very crowded, I'm not sure I'd call it people soup, though; the Oasis pool not as crowded. We only went to the main pool twice; we went in the afternoon and it was hard to find a chair. We just wandered while the kids played. We did have chairs at the Oasis pool. My kids preferred the Oasis pool, too. It was quieter and less people. We spent the rest of the pool afternoons there.

Here are pics of the Oasis pool at around 6pm on April 12. It was pretty much like this the whole afternoon, if I recall correctly. Sorry I didn't take any of the main pool.

Thanks for the response! The oasis pool certainly looks relaxing! My kids love the splash area and the water slide, so I know they will want to be in the main pool area at least some of the time. It’s nice to know we can escape to the oasis pool if the crowds get too insane.

I Booked a magical deal for August at Poly. We booked a standard room. I’m trying to decide which building to request. I know it’s not guaranteed, but worth a shot. We have previously stayed in Fiji and liked that. I know the standard rooms category have changed, and the inventory available has probably shrunk. The most important thing to us is 1st floor or 3rd floor balcony. And I’d prefer we don’t face the monorail. Has anyone used the TP room request option? Do you suggest trying that? I wasn’t sure if I should do that or just have the travel agent submit a request on our reservation. Thanks in advance!

We booked a standard view room for in November. I'm curious to hear other people's opinions on this subject.

No one is certain what rooms will be standard. We should know more in January. You have a lot of time to make your requests, and you'll definitely know in plenty of time. Our trip is in January so less time for us.

This is what Tikiman told me on his facebook page: Hopefully Ill have a list of rooms but for now it looks like Standard will be in Aotearoa, one side of Fiji, one side of Tuvalu. I get mixed answers on Niue and Rarotonga but atleast one side of Rarotonga if not all.

Hi all - questions:

Has anyone reserved the oasis cabanas and if so what was your experience?

Is the standard garden room category changing?

Anyone's thoughts on the lagoon view category rooms?

We're planning a July trip - can't decide between poly and beach club?? Large group with grandparents, and six kids ranging from 15-3. Any insight?

Thank you!!!

We just booked our 25th Wedding Anniversary Trip at the Polynesian Village Resort!!! This will be our first time staying at the Poly, my DD’s dream resort. We have two rooms, one for our DD (20) and her BFF. It will be so wonderful having a room all to ourselves. When my DD was little, we somehow managed to share a double bed in a tiny value or moderate room. We’ve come a long way! So exciting!!!

Sounds like a great trip! Hope you have a great time :goodvibes.

Congrats on your DVC! Enjoy the planning for your next trip :wizard:.

My choice would be the Poly. We thought the BC was nice, but we like being in the MK area and prefer the atmosphere/location/pool and overall ambiance of the Poly over the BC. In addition, the Poly rooms are quite a bit larger than BC and all rooms come with a daybed (which is only a request at BC). We also find more of a variety of dining options (both CS & TS) around the monorail resorts/WL area :).

My favorite thing about the Beach Club is Stormalong Bay. It’s a beautiful sand bottomed pool with a lazy river and water slide. At the end of our trip, we spent an entire day there. If you love being near Epcot and Hollywood, it’s the place to be. It’s a gorgeous resort.
The room was very small for a deluxe resort, and we really prefer being close to MK and the other deluxe resorts’ restaurants.
It depends on your preferences.

I leave for Poly on the 13 of this month. We have never stayed at this Resort so I don't even know the difference. I hope Standard still provides a good resort experience.

Did you see that Poly is a test resort for Bluetooth on magic bands this month? I just saw an article about it. It means that you can open your room door if your magic band is anywhere in the vicinity (no “tap” needed). How handy when your arms are full of Dole Whips for the family ;) We’ll be there later in the month so I’ll let you know how it goes!

So excited to try this out in March!

We also booked a magical vacation for August, std view. We requested 3rd floor monorail view when we had our agent book, but our priority is 3rd floor really, and I wouldn’t mind Fiji or the other side of Rarotonga if that’s where we end up. We had good success using TP for the room request at POR in 2015, we put in a request for a range of rooms in a specific building (booked preferred location) and got one of the rooms in our request. I also using TP for some general planning for parks, so why not...

You can look at Touring Plans room locator (I think you can see it without a subscription, but not positive since I do have a subscription). They still have the old categories listed. You'll want to look at "Garden/2 Queen Beds" and any that have pool or lagoon views are likely not going to be standard anymore. The standard rooms will have a view of gardens, other buildings, the monorail, etc. Some are better than others, but compared to other resort categories, the deluxes have pretty good views.

Anyone back from Poly recently, like in the last month or so? I literally have to search to find a positive review of it lately. We’re leaving in a month and I’m hoping it will be as fun as AKL bc these reviews are really bumming me out.
