2018 Princess Half Marathon

Crazy dream!

Just got back from running 4 miles. Now my hamstring hurts. Seriously? I foam rolled, stretched & took some ibuprofen. Ankle is good though.

I should have mentioned that this is probably the 7th or 8th time I’ve sprained this ankle over my lifetime. I sprained it so bad once that I ended up in a soft cast. My left leg has been weaker than my right leg my entire life. I don’t really know why and I’ve been checked by doctors. Just born that way LOL! It’s not noticeable until I’m doing certain leg exercises at the gym. I’ve tried training my legs independently in hopes that my left leg can catch up to the weight that my right leg can do, but I’ve had no luck with that.

I’ve been obsessively checking for Crystal Palace reservations for Friday morning after the 5K, and finally scored one, but it’s for 8:05 am! I was honestly planning on walking the 5K and taking it all in. It’ll be my first ever runDisney event and I’ll be doing the 10K the following day, which I plan to run. It seems impossible to finish the 5K walking it and make it to Crystal Palace on time for that reservation. I’m going to keep searching, but it seems the odds are slim since it’s a MK EMH day. I’m just wondering if 8:05 is unrealistic. Thanks in advance!

Do you have a touring plans subscription? If not, I'd consider it. They have the reservation finder and will text or email you when the reservation you want becomes available. That's how I got BOG and Ohana just this past month.

Yes, I signed up for it, but I still keep obsessively checking lol. I’m hoping for a better CP time for Friday, and a better day for BOG, so your success makes me a little more hopeful. Thanks!

do we think my neighbors have shoveled our 14" of snow enough that I can do a long run tomorrow? stay tuned to find out!

well some streets looked like they were vacuumed, and some looked more like Hoth, but I got in five miles in 12 degrees and I feel pretty good about my day.

I was inspired by all of the Dopey posts this weekend, so I did 9 miles today. I still hate long training runs. I am not sure I will making it past 12 miles before the half because I get so bored with 9 that even the idea of running 12 on my own annoys me right now. This is why I will never do a full marathon.

I feel your pain! Finally got 6 miles in yesterday (though it was 2 run, 1 walk, 2 run, 1 walk) - plantar fasciitis plagued foot felt pretty good, but both legs cramped up badly as I finished. If it's not one thing, it's another :headache:

Oh, I need to go read some of those posts - could use some inspiration about now :thumbsup2 Yes, the long runs are mentally painful - maybe try to get some friends to run parts of it with you? I have two friends that will meet me at different parts of the trail and run along side for 3-4 miles - makes a huge difference to me! I think if you get a 12 mile run in, you'll be great - I'm not planning to do anything longer than 12.

Yep, I got BOG for Sunday evening using this! Took a while, but it worked.

Not sure of your goals, but I have done several halfs and have only run one long run of 10 miles. A weekly build adding one mile a week. This past week was 8 miles and this week will be 9 miles. Next week back to 8 miles and then my 10 mile a good two weeks out from race day. I also run two 5-6 mile runs a week too. My goal is to finish in under 2 1/2 hours. Probably will be closer to 2 1/4. If I had higher exception for myself then I would have to take it up to 12 miles with a couple of 10 mile runs as well...and would have started the training process the first of November.

This will be my first half, so my goal is just to finish and I am fairly confident I could do that now which might be adding to my training blah. I am glad to hear you have successfully only gone up to 10 miles before a half! I usually run two 4 mile runs during week with my long runs on the weekend. I did 8 the weekend before this 9 yesterday, but I think this weekend I am going to drop it back to 5 this weekend and then do a 9-10 again the following weekend. I am also going to find a "fresh" route for my next long run, as I think my familiarity with my current route is contributing to my boredom. It felt so long and tedious yesterday, but when I looked at my pace later it was actually slightly faster than the previous week.

I need to make some more running friends! I am on a local running group on Facebook, but they run around 6 a.m. on the weekend and I'm not getting up that early to run unless there's a medal involved.

There is a 2018 Princess Half Marathon weekend shirt available on the Disney Store website. Says limited release, from today until January 16.

https://www.shopdisney.com/disney-p...ey-2018-tee-for-women-limited-release-1464533

Such an odd shirt. Cotton and has the annual passholder badge on it. Confusing.

Speaking of things found on that app...did anyone else see that they started selling a January marathon weekend “finisher” jacket there? Some unhappy preorder people on FB now selling their preorders because they would prefer one that says “finisher”.

I wonder if we’ll see something like that, too?

I noticed the AP logo right away and thought it was weird. It’s cute though! I wish it was available in the Shop Parks app so I could get the AP discount.

ETA - delivery time is 3-5 weeks!

Hmmm......wonder why the chose those four specific princesses to be on the shirt? Could that be a hint for medals?

They already announced the medals, but it seems to match up!

Kids = Mulan
5k = Rapunzel
10k = Merida
Half = Snow White
Challenge = Golden Carriage (Cinderella)
