More Mexican Drug Cartel Murders in the News... Anyone Worried?

I was in Puerto Vallarta in May of this past year and there were no issues whatsoever. It is a wonderful town and the people were very friendly. We never felt unsafe and we were not part of a large tour group or anything.

This stuff goes on all the time - if DCL feels it's unsafe for passengers, they'll cancel the port call. There's also always the option of staying aboard ship if worried - it's a great time to enjoy the ship when everybody else has gone ashore.

We are going on the Mexican Riviera cruise next year. Should we be worried about port excursions? :worried:
I had a giant tree limb fall on our garage right b/4 our Norwegian Fjords cruise in June. I had people ask me if I was concerned about violence in Europe. My answer was I was more afraid of trees. Enjoy your cruise; you probably won't be decapitated by a drug cartel during your cruise

Well, that makes sense, if you live in America. I am sure the Mexican news reports daily crime to the citizens of Mexico, more often than it reports the daily crime of America.

I’m not sure bbel lives in America or Mexico though.

I'm just saying, you watch the news where I live and Mexico very rarely comes up. However, violence in America is reported almost daily...

So, from what I see on the tv/hear on the radio/read in the papers then it's also a reasonable question...
People don't care what goes what goes on in Mexico.

I sure do. Many of my students over the years have been from Mexico. When they have returned from trips visiting family in Mexico, the parents have shared very scary accounts of traveling in Mexico. There are places they have to drive through that are very dangerous. Kidnapping is a huge problem in addition to the executions. After everything I’ve heard during my career from locals, I would never travel to Mexico. But that’s my choice. Others can do as they please.

I can understand your concerns.I was speaking more to international news.
USA leader of the free world....Mexico 2nd world country.
The last news story I heard coming out of Mexico was a couple of weeks ago. It was about the bodies hanging from an overpass near Cabo. I'm sure bodies hanging from a freeway over pass in NYC or any US city would get huge international TV coverage.

It is probably irrational, but I won't go to Mexico for a land vacation. When we were there for our cruise this past year I didn't even get off the ship...partly because it was our 3rd cruise in a row to the western, but also because I just don't trust their government or the police to treat me well in the unlikely event that something were to go wrong. I realized that we could probably go to a beautiful all-inclusive somewhere down there and nothing go wrong, but it is a chance I just am not willing to take. I don't fault others for doing it though. Just a personal decision.

Do you have crime near home in your city or state? I'm sure we all do. No one should be worried at home, just as no one should be worried on vacation.

Now just don't go down the back roadways. Stay within the public eye. Always carry some cash in a separate pocket. Be smart just like you would at home.

Probably isn't as great of odds as I would like... :scared:

- Of course there is crime around my city, but last I checked, no one had been be-headed or strung up above a freeway. :sad2:

One advice is stay sober... Seriously.. bad things happen to good people doing stupid things in shaddy foreign countries.. Friend of mine couldn't pay his tab in Thailand at some shaddy bar... Russian run "Mafia" bouncers got their "cash" Friend didnt have a iphone anymore.
