Club level guests can buy more fast passes?

I posted this on another thread. I don't like this.

This offer is only for people staying club level. And it's not a perk, it's a purchase.

Perhaps this is why it bothers me a bit. It's not like you are paying an exorbitant price for a room that includes the extra fast passes - that's a perk.
You are paying for a Club level room, and they offer you the chance to PURCHASE extra fast passes.
I may be mistaken, but I can't think of a time where WDW has only offered something "extra" for purchase for a select group of people. Usually it's available for everyone. Club level has a finite amount of people who can book it. Everyone means everyone.

If it's true that 90 day booking is also part of this purchase - with them being able to book 6 fast passes per person, Disney Springs hotels now being able to book at 60 days...the "regular" WDW resort guest is screwed for fast passes when the big rides start to open.

We are a couple who makes pretty good money in a big city. I'm nervous we will soon be people who find it isn't worth the price anymore. Nervous but mostly sad we will be priced out of how we like to visit.

Sorry. It's just frustrating to see things slip out of your tenuous grasp. :o

I agree it really depletes the value of an AP
I was already wary about the Good Neighbor thing and now the Club Level with double the passes at 90 days (granted for a fee)

I haven't been around these boards all that long, but lol. Man, people talked about this like crazy other places when FP+ was first rolling out, and people were in absolute denial. Just like you shouldn't think this is just going to be for Club Level stays. Disney is going to monetize this as far as they possibly can. Same way they have monetized the 60 day booking window selling it off to neighborhood hotels.

People didn't think they would take away Legacy FP (you'd be able to have both), and people didn't think FP+ would be tiered, and people didn't think FP+ would impact lines (it does, it makes them longer, its been pretty well established by the stats folks), and people swore disney would never SELL these things like those evil folks over at Universal. Lol. This is just the beginning.

The real problem I have is that this creates (and will create as they roll this out to more people, there aren't TOO many club level guests afterall) more demand for FP+ (esp at the 60 day, in combination with the neighborhood hotels), and essentially detracts from the experiences of those who can't afford to do this. I don't mind upsells that don't detract from others, Cabana's at the MK, minivan services, etc. But there is a finite pool of FP+ for every ride on any given day. When a select group of people are able to buy those up, it means the people who can't have fewer to get and fewer rides to be able to book with the 3 they DO get. That's just not cool for me.

I can't see this being successful. The price is just to steep for what you are getting.

Ask yourself: if money wasn't an issue and you had the option of walking up to a ride and paying $17 per person to go to the front of the line, would you?

The express pass at Universal would be a steal compared to this.

But you are talking about people who spend several hundred dollars a night to each a bagel and have a glass of wine ... I don't tihnk they are going to bat an eye at $50/day/person

Honestly I don’t think this will have a huge affect. There are not a lot of club level rooms and on top of that I doubt that every club level guest is going to buy this so it’s going to be limited.

I’m confused as to where some people think they’ll be able to book 90 days out? Did I miss that because in the two articles I have read booking window changes were not mentioned.

It shouldn't just be for Club level stays. If they are going to do it, Disney should offer the ability to purchase fast passes to all, not a select few. And please everyone, don't say "well you can book club level if you want to" - no, not if it's sold out.

Nope - everyone should get the chance to be fleeced. :)

I have stayed club level and I would not spend this. I don’t think everyone will either.

I don't think you are the average club level purchase, and I am many wont. I bet a bunch of them don't even care about rides. But lets face it, people who stay club level, probably aren't going to care about another 200 bucks a night.

So, would you be happier if it was just offered for free as a perk to people who book club level?

I really don't see this as an issue. If someone paying club level prices at a deluxe wants to spend even more money, I say let them. But if the ability to purchase fp's is available to everyone, well, that could be a problem. Not everything has to be fair.

I think this is just a way to encourage the club level guests who partake in free food and beverages all day, to get into the parks and spend some money on food and drink.

Yes - I would be happier if it was just a free perk.
Otherwise, offering something for purchase to a select group of people sounds...bad. If club level is sold out, what? Too bad, so sad? No chance to purchase extra fast passes? I guess, but I think that's a crap way of doing business.

A few bits, 90 day window and 3 day minimum to get.

So that's really a minimum of $150 per person (not including tax) (aka $600 extra for a family of four)

from http://www.wftv.com/news/local/walt...guests-to-buy-additional-fastpasses/680857608

"The service will require a 3-day minimum and will only be available to club-level resort guests, the cast members said."

and

"The additional, paid FastPasses can be booked as far out as 90 days in advance, the cast members said, instead of the usual 60 days for resort guests, offering access to the most popular attractions before anyone else."

I agree to an extent. I just don’t think this will have as big of an affect as you might think.i could be wrong though.

Ok did some more looking into this. The original source does say 90-day advance booking window and no strings attached FPs and that they can get nighttime spectacular FP viewing. Some of this doesn’t make sense. Currently the only two nighttime shows that offer FP are Illuminations and RoL. So do you only get to choose those or are they adding FP to HEA and Star Wars? I’m waiting for official details from Disney since it seems not all the details are worked out yet.

To me, it's just a perk that CL guests will be able to purchase this. Not a big deal at this point, but it could be a slippery slope. So many people talk about how easy it is to refresh all day and get additional fp's. I think Disney knows this and realize additional fp's are really a great money making opportunity. Personally I hope this offer to purchase does not expand beyond CL guests.

It's all in the details - a perk, rolled into the price, is more palatable. Only being allowed to purchase extra if you are in a select "group" of people - sounds bad. :) Sounds like you are taking away from an entire population of people just because they couldn't book Club level in a situation where it was sold out.

Otoh, some will consider that they can biil far more than that per hour...time is ?money kinda deal.

So now WDW is selling fastpasses for those who can afford it? Whatever happened to all the peeps who cried about Universal creating "classes" by selling Express and saying that Disney would never do that?

This one says "at time of booking" which would be the advent of the 11 month fastpass...... and the source is not a cast member...
