Wanna buy a Fastpass? It will cost ya $50

What I’m trying to figure out is if you have a stay longer than 3 days, if you can just purchase it for 3 days.

For instance, we have a 5 night stay coming up. We don’t need extra FPs in our DHS day or our last day as we only have a half day (park TBD). Could I purchase this for ONLY 3 days?

The nighttime shows don’t make a difference to me...we don’t do them right now since we have a toddler.

The only thing that surprises me is that they've waited this long to test this. I'll reserve judgment as to whether this is armageddon until enacted.

We'd never do it for longer trips, but I can see doing it for our shorter running trips or during extra-busy times. That said, we NEVER stay club level -- did once years ago and just didn't see the value in it. This wouldn't change that.

We have stayed at the Poly bungalows twice for short trips, but using DVC points. Would that qualify us, or only cash reservations??

90-day window is by far the most attractive part of this...

Another question in my mind is whether you will still be bound to the tiers. For example, if I'm getting 3 extra FP on an EPCOT day and can still only get 1 Tier one for all 6 of my fastpasses, then the added value of the extra 3 is pretty much non existent if I'm stuck with Nemo, Turtle Talk and Imagination.

So club level can get an extra three fastpasses ahead of others (if they pay) and Disney Springs guests will be able to get three at the same time as onsite guests. That pool of fastpasses keeps being spread out more and more. I see no reason not to assume that more of this will be coming.

Do you honestly believe that a corporation like Disney just throws out business ideas with no planning and no real idea what they're doing? You may not LIKE what they do, but I would not believe for a single second that they just toss random ideas out there on a whim.

Yes I do.

Ex 1 Express bus transportation with no thought as to how to protect guests and CMs in the summer storms and not much advertising of the perk and hit or miss as to when/how to pay for it. Shut down because they said it wasn't that popular.

Ex 2 The addition of alcohol to the DDP without closing the ability to buy the kid's plan and use it for adult meals and drinks.

Ex 3 Announcing the "dog hotels" ONE day before people were allowed to bring their dogs and not giving guests who may have SEVERE allergies a warning.

Ex 4 BoG breakfast that looks like a prix fix BUT isn't and now they just quietly start not allowing PPO there at all to fix the problem they created because they didn't think it all out.

Sorry, but I think they do it all the time.

Just playing devils advocate here but what makes this any different then the nighttime desert shows with VIP seating, or the vip tours with front line access to rides????? ...... while there is much speculation to be had until this is presented for some people this may not be a bad option. Granted the 3 day minimum kind of stinks but if there is no limitations on tiered rides then it makes going to epcot, animal kingdom, a lot easier with a lot less waiting, or without having to have your whole family at the park first thing in the morning.

If you break it down ( don't have exact numbers) club level guests make up a very small percentage of people which is why Disney is prob testing with them. Also if it opened up to everyone then the fast pass line would prob not be so fast if there were no limitations on what rides could be chosed.....

anyways i'm very interested to see if this is actually rolled out and what the outcomes are but I don't think this is going to change the current fastpass system or everyone is going to be charged eventually..... I think like anything else this will be a luxury purchase for those who want it or can afford it

These sound like examples of Disney and some of their initiatives not being perfect on roll-out. Which is to be expected -- with ANY company.

That doesn't mean they don't plan and act deliberately based upon research, etc. as @Klayfish stated. They absolutely do.

Okay, I'll modify my opinion to say they have the "appearance" of not thinking things through. I mean, we throw out all kinds of possible problems and kinks with their announcements and new policies, and more than once, we've been right and they have to change. If we mere mortals can see the flaws beforehand, why can't the ones who are being paid to do it see them and fix it BEFORE roll-out?

What are the flaws you see with this one that you assume they haven't anticipated and will need to correct?

The last time we were at Bush Gardens (Williamsburg), you could purchase a express pass (or something like it) for a extra $15. It was good for the whole day, no limit. I wouldn't mind something like that but $50 for 3 rides is not something I am willing to pay for.

Again, you may not like them, but unless you're a WDW executive, I don't think you can say that they just implemented an idea "willy nilly" with no forethought in how it would effect their business. I'm not a Disney exec either, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but my business sense tells me that WDW doesn't do anything without vetting of the idea and careful examination of pros, cons, etc...my feeling is every business decision they make is for a reason and evaluated fully prior to roll out. Doesn't mean they all work properly, or even at all. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but just no way would I believe they just do it on a whim. It's not a sustainable business model...and Disney has done pretty well for itself over the years.

This whole concept doesn't bother me one bit, the way it's proposed now. If they ever changed it to where nobody can get FP+ without paying, while I'd understand the business case behind it, I would be very strongly opposed to it. But for now, that's not the case. I'm a dedicated off-site person. Plus, we have an AP, so that means I can only make 7 days worth of FP+, and only 30 days out. When our trip is longer than 7 days, days 8 and up have to be done only 7 days in advance. I don't find it a hindrance at all, even during the busiest week of the year...Xmas to NY.

Personally, I think this is Disney trying to figure out the next system, the one they will need when Star Wars Land opens. You know, when there is a whole new level of crowded.

I do stay club level every trip. In the past, I have booked several behind the scenes tours and dessert parties, even during the Christmas party. I have tickets for the Disney After Dark event later this month. In fact, we planned an extra 3 night trip just to do that. So I guess I am the guest they are aiming this at. And you know what, I am already considering it. We have a trip planned for the middle of April & I will be watching tomorrow for any officially released information. Whether or not I actually buy will depend on the final details, like if you have to purchase it for every night of the trip, like you do the dining plan. That wouldn't work for me. If I can buy just 3 days out of my 8 day trip, I will actually book it.

Now there are just 2 of us traveling so that would be $300 +any tax. We have paid that for tours before, so this would be our little extra for our trip. We are in our 60's, have APs already & make 2 (this year 3 ) trips a year. So we are not morning to night park warriors. A big part of our trip is relaxing at the resort & at signature restaurant dinners most nights. This would just help us be a little more.....efficient I guess is the word, in our park touring. So we can plan ahead, see what we want in the park & get back to the resort. I know I could get a 4th fastpass every day. We were just there the middle of December & I did look for 4th fastpasses several times. We were very limited in selection or would have had to wait around for something we wanted. So being able to plan ahead, especially if it could be at a second park, would be worth it to me.

I understand this wouldn't work or be worth it for everyone. But Disney already has many different levels of offerings. They have value, moderate & deluxe resorts; counter service, sit down & signature restaurants. One park tickets, park hoppers & annual passes. Special tours & VIP experiences. I see this as just one more option that allows the guest to get the vacation experience they want. Something for everyone. You can choose it or not.

I wonder if they will take away additional FP that we currently get (you know after you use up your 3 you can get additional ones).

This could be useful. I have a club stay over New Years Eve. If it got me access to view the fireworks and I could get hard to get, I could see booking this. But on a normal night I'm not sure I would
That’s a good point. We have a CL stay over the 4th of July. Last year, we were TPV CL at Poly and watched the fireworks from our room. This year, we’re at Beach Club, so preferred viewing could come in handy. I doubt we’d pay $50 pp/pd tho.

I doubt it. It's costless for them to offer that option. I'd assume this type of program would reduce the number of FP that remain available in that type of after-your-booked-three-FP pool, though.

This pilot is so small that I wouldn't expect to see an impact. If they widen it, different story, I would assume. Guess we'll see...

If this stays as just a club level perk then fair enough, it won't really effect anyone as the number of people will be so small but I personally feel they are just using club level for the tests.

I'm not against them offering more fast passes for money as Disney are a business and I'm surprised this hasn't been done before.

It would be really handy for 2019 when Star Wars land opens and with a 90 day booking window, that guarntees you'll be on the ride but me personally, I don't know if there's enough benefit for me. Tying it to a minimum of 3 days stay sucks too

We often used to be able to get TWO fastpasses for Space Mountain on the SAME day, and it was FREE.

I don't do most of the new upsells, and the thought of having to PAY extra annoys me, BUT I might consider this one - IF - Again I say IF, the new option allowed us to book TWO Fastpasses on the same day for the same attraction.
