Where are we, Jersey? Bye, Phoenicians! An August 2017 TR * NEW DINING/TR LINKS*

hope NY Eve treated you all well and nobody did this :crazy2:. Ours was boring by some standards but we were ok with it; Ricky wanted some friends over so we stayed in after taking Chris and a couple friends to see Pitch Perfect 3

I took Allie and some of her friends. It was super cute, my favorite, vy far!

We ate Chinese and binged the first season of "Santa Clarita Diet" on Netflix (cannot WAIT for the 2nd season now!) and Ricky had lots of fun.

Ugh…I tried watching that and was so disgusted with all the vomiting and blood (and I am a huge fan of True Blood, Breaking Bad, etc)…I shut it off and can't watch another episode.

When we came out the Muppet show was starting and I finally got to see more than 2 minutes of it:

I keep forgetting to watch this :sad2:

I don't love this attraction; it's ok. It's fun to do once in awhile, don't hate!

Mike and I went I'll save my review for my TR, but we kind of felt the same way

Yeah-ha, another D&B! I'd been eyeing the new at the time Tiana bag. She's not my favorite but I like her and I think her bag is really cute, but Steve had seen this one in the WL gift shop and wanted me to see it. However we kept going by without me stopping in to look so I finally did today and fell in love, as big as it is. Now I am a big purse girl but usually go for the and not the shopper size which this is, but it's all they had so what the heck, I took it home and I'm glad I did :snooty: It seems to be an uncommon pattern and I get so many compliments on it as I did on my Runway Princess bag and I think that's the best thing about using a Disney Dooney! I didn't use the bag until Oct. but was quite content with it safely packed in my carry on luggage the next day.

I love it

On our way out we got some PP pictures. I actually have quite a few from today but I always forget to post them......

And this one, which is a cool Magic Shot but we look weird:

You guys look great! Cute pictures!

I know he always has a partner but the wood was mysteriously blank. Then there's this entire empty side:

img_7196-jpg.291792

I think a whole side is missing, too. I'm going to have to go through my IASW pictures now…

ETA-Sadly, I have have pictures of EVERY scene, EXCEPT that particular one :sad2:

You know I am just poking fun at my country kinfolk for that horrible heehaw accent in there! :flower3::flower3::flower3:
LOL yes because ya'll down there have such an accent!

I can only imagine what that particular quote sounds like coming from the yankee dialect :rotfl2:
Oh it doesn't really sound like a yankee dialect when we say that, because we use our best dixie voice :rotfl2:

I took Allie and some of her friends. It was super cute, my favorite, vy far!
I've actually never seen PP one or two! I did think it was cute though.

Ugh…I tried watching that and was so disgusted with all the vomiting and blood (and I am a huge fan of True Blood, Breaking Bad, etc)…I shut it off and can't watch another episode.
 This doesn't surprise me given your feelings towards HHN! That was quite a bit of vomit in the first episode though :faint:

I don't love this attraction; it's ok. It's fun to do once in awhile, don't hate! It was a little more interesting this time because earlier in the year Steve and I did the Marceline to the MK tour and learned what Walt used to cover the birds rib cages with to simulate breathing after trying many different things (cashmere, who knew??). However both boys enjoyed it more than I thought they would and that alone makes it worth going into!

I'm not a huge Tiki Room fan, but doing the Marceline tour made it more interesting for me, too! I thought that was such a cool story! The best-dressed cast members in the whole park...

Edited to add I realized I posted this without a picture, sorry guys :rotfl2: I have to run out now but I promise I'll add the picture to my next post!

Oh no! I want to see it....

I'm back! Before I answer comments or continue with our MK after-BOG evening let me show you my newest D&B:

img_7858-jpg.291787

...ah. There it is.

I love this!! Such a unique sweet print!

And this one, which is a cool Magic Shot but we look weird:

hitchiking-jpg.291801

Cool magic shot! I don't think I've ever seen this before! I think you guys look cute.

I was trying to figure out if there are normally dancers on the other side of the Taj Mahal. There are, aren't there? I mean, why wouldn't there be, it looks uneven without them there. Maybe I just assumed they were normally there since the Israel girl was missing, but I think I'm right. Tell me I'm right :D Was there a strike going on?

Yep, just one side, as people have already said I think. But now I'm wondering why...?? And why I've never questioned this before...

Hi Ariane! I'm playing catch up again after the holidays. I went on a "digital diet" for a couple weeks, since I had a full 10 days off from work and really tried to unplug and spend the time with my family. Great news about your upcoming trips.

Um.....Hi  I want to nominate myself for Worse Trip Reporter of 2017 and also nominate myself in my supporting role of Worse Trip Report Follower of 2017. I've been so bad at keeping up on my reports and yours the last few months. I remember when I did my first TR I would be cranking out updates daily and nobody was reading in between! Really hoping to remedy this in 2018 or at best, with my next TR. Which hopefully will be with my March one!
Now before I move on -
ladies, can we talk SPARKLE SKIRTS???
WHO HAS SOME (@chunkymonkey)?
WHAT STYLE DO YOU HAVE?
DO THEY RUN BIG? SMALL? TRUE TO SIZE?

I want to order some for our March trip but I'm torn between the styles. And the patterns OMG! I want them all! Any advice would be appreciated :D

AND NOW,
THE MOMENT YOU'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR
Here I am, finally on our last day. Which is something we never say in Disney! This was an important last day because we were going to be doing something for the last time; something that nobody would be able to do ever again after tomorrow. It's been a few months so I'm not quite as bitter about it but at the time I was, and lots of people felt the same way.

We were going to HS to ride the Great Movie Ride for the.last.time :sad2::headache::sad:

Our FP's had been made before the closure was announced and by the time I tried getting one for today for GMR, they were gone. I had a strong feeling there would be a RD rush despite Steve thinking the opposite, so I told everyone I wanted to be at the park entrance by 8:15 for a 9:00 open since they'd let us in (but hold us) most likely by 8:30 or so.

Yeah. We scanned our bands at 8:56, just as the music got loud and they let the masses go. Here we are behind the others heading to GMR:

IMG_7206.JPG

By the time we got up there the wait was 90 minutes. No different than mine and Ricky's nights safari wait, right? Steve wanted to forget it but no way was I missing GMR for the last time and both boys sided with me, much to my surprise. Steve stayed and we were actually on the ride in about 45 minutes.
I didn't take pictures once we got on because I wanted to enjoy it (and I may have had tears in my eyes) but I took many pictures of the queue and I'm going to share a few now:

Two of the changing posters on the walls:

IMG_7210.JPG

Gorgeous tapestry on the wall. Wonder where it went :(

IMG_7211.JPG

Even with the long wait we were moving fast and I managed to get this pic of an empty queue:

*sigh*. I know for many of the younger generation the black and white movies didn't "do" anything for them, and one of the reasons this attraction wasn't popular with some people is because it hadn't been updated, but what made this attraction for me was that it had all the older stuff. That's what made it classic. I enjoy old black and white movies and used to watch them with my grandmother and dad so I know lots of them and I see the value of them.

As soon as the ride started, the tears came for me! Our guide was good; I was wondering if she would say anything about it closing the next day but she didn't. I was also hoping for the cowboy scene since we had the gangster scene a couple days before but we got the gangster again.

AND HERE'S WHERE WE GET THE FIRST PART OF MY TR TITLE!
The guy comes out:

IMG_7224.JPG

Looks good! Very gangster-ish actually. He does his thing with our guide and gets in, starts driving away. And we notice he has a very heavy accent, like middle-eastern. Again, good, no problem there at all. The only reason I mention this is because we then get to the part of the spiel where he goes, "Where are we, Jersey?" But it comes out, "Where are we, Jir-sssssssiiiiiiii?""""" Steve and I looked at each other and started cracking up. It may have been funnier to us since we are from NY and say Jersey all the time when referring to NJ, but it was also funny because pretty much everything he said sounded different with his accent and we're so totally familiar with the whole script it was comical. So of course I thought it went well with "Bye Felicia/Phoenicians!" Like it or not :snooty:

It felt weird walking off the ride. Chris returned to me and said, "so we'll never ride this again, will we?" I said no and he said "wow". Yeah kid, I know.

We cheered ourselves up by getting some family pictures outside the exit of the ride:

IMG_7226.JPG

Next it was time for our FP's so we went to TSMM followed by my fave:

IMG_7234.JPG

It never gets old! In fact when I go with my TA friend Cathy before our Universal training-3 weeks from tomorrow, whoo!- I'm forcing her to ride it with me for the first time. When we went to the Uni training last Feb. I got her to ride Dr. Doom's Fear Fall with me which she'd never been on. I told her that ride is crap compared to TOT but she survived!

I'm at my picture limit so will be back sooner than 10 days to finish up our time in HS, tell you which park we jumped to so I could get one of my favorite snacks before we left, and to wrap this baby up!

I'm not a huge Tiki Room fan, but doing the Marceline tour made it more interesting for me, too!
That's the beauty of taking the tours, they give you a new appreciation for things you learn about on them. After Steve and I did the UnDiscovered Future World tour in Epcot I totally found new appreciation for the design and history of the pavilions there.

I love this!! Such a unique sweet print!
Isn't it? That's why I had to get it :)

Hi Ariane! I'm playing catch up again after the holidays. I went on a "digital diet" for a couple weeks, since I had a full 10 days off from work and really tried to unplug and spend the time with my family. Great news about your upcoming trips.
Welcome back! I like that idea, glad you were successful.

Yes I'm excited! I leave on my semi-solo Disney/Universal trip 3 weeks from tomorrow :cheer2:

We were going to HS to ride the Great Movie Ride for the.last.time :sad2::headache::sad:

:sad1: Still sad.

I told everyone I wanted to be at the park entrance by 8:15 for a 9:00 open since they'd let us in (but hold us) most likely by 8:30 or so.

Yeah. We scanned our bands at 8:56

Haha could have been worse I guess...

The only reason I mention this is because we then get to the part of the spiel where he goes, "Where are we, Jersey?" But it comes out, "Where are we, Jir-sssssssiiiiiiii?""""" Steve and I looked at each other and started cracking up.

:rotfl:

And there it is! I've been wondering about this story!

I WILL BE GOING FOR A SOMEWHAT SOLO TRIP IN FEBRUARY?? BECAUSE i WILL!!
WHAT?!?! YAY!!!!

It'll be quick but quick Disney is better than no Disney :thumbsup2
::yes::

IDK, but I'm going to pay careful attention next month. Both to any missing dolls AND to whether or not the dolls at the end have faces behind the masks......
:rotfl:

Um.....Hi  I want to nominate myself for Worse Trip Reporter of 2017 and also nominate myself in my supporting role of Worse Trip Report Follower of 2017.
Don't worry - there's always me! And I haven't logged on in a month :rotfl2:

something that nobody would be able to do ever again after tomorrow. It's been a few months so I'm not quite as bitter about it but at the time I was, and lots of people felt the same way.
 I'm still bitter! And angry! And heartbroken :guilty: I feel your pain!

I didn't take pictures once we got on because I wanted to enjoy it (and I may have had tears in my eyes)
I would have done the same. But in a way I'm "glad" it had closed prior to my trip because then I didn't have to go through the gut-wrenching "one last time" business :sad2:

I know for many of the younger generation the black and white movies didn't "do" anything for them, and one of the reasons this attraction wasn't popular with some people is because it hadn't been updated, but what made this attraction for me was that it had all the older stuff.
I AGREE 100%!!! That's what made it such a classic, such an "old Hollywood" feel :lovestruc

I enjoy old black and white movies
Same! :thumbsup2

Don't worry - there's always me! And I haven't logged on in a month :rotfl2:

Me three, me three!! I've been over two weeks with zero actual content...and that gap just keeps getting larger and larger...hopefully I'll get something else up in less than a month though... :scared:

And there it is! I've been wondering about this story!
I should have just explained the whole thing in the beginning because I almost forgot I needed to do that, it's been so long!

WHAT?!?! YAY!!!!
I know : dogdance: I can't wait! A big part of me wants to do a solo trip; this is a poor version of a solo trip since I won't be alone but it sans family like my Universal training trip last year, and it'll be my first time on Disney property with no other DeVizio's :)
Don't worry - there's always me! And I haven't logged on in a month :rotfl2:
It's funny because just the other day I was wondering where you were  I guarantee if I tried I could still win the title from you though lol

I AGREE 100%!!! That's what made it such a classic, such an "old Hollywood" feel : lovestruc
::yes::

hopefully I'll get something else up in less than a month though... :scared:
Well the longer you go without posting the less further behind on your TR I'll be :rotfl2:You know how many times I've gone through and quoted your report, only to run out of time and then lose my quotes before I get back to it : sad2: I need to get back there asap :car:

Now before I move on -
ladies, can we talk SPARKLE SKIRTS???
WHO HAS SOME (@chunkymonkey)?
WHAT STYLE DO YOU HAVE?
DO THEY RUN BIG? SMALL? TRUE TO SIZE?

I have a bunch! They are really great. I think they run true to size, maybe just slightly big, but that's not a bad thing :)
They style I usually wear is called the Swing Style. Sometimes I wear the Hiker Chic style which is the same just 2 inches longer but I am taller so sometimes I just want to be more modest. They have since nice big pockets which is always useful in the parks!

Thanks, Su-Lynn! Swing Style is actually what I was looking at as my first choice :thumbsup2 Now to decide on a few patterns, that will be harder!

Ahh your a great trip reporter! I have to laugh about your CM’s accent. Andi laughs at me all the time because I can’t say that line in a NJ accent to save my life, lol! Being from Northern Minnesota, we don’t roll anything and pronounce everything so I sound like a complete dork! I try not to sound like the movie Fargo but I must to people, in the south because they always say I can tell you are from Minnesota ugh!!

RIP Great Movie ride, you will be missed!

We were going to HS to ride the Great Movie Ride for the.last.time :sad2::headache::sad:

This was never a must-do for us, and in fact, DD hated it so we rarely went on, but I'm really sad that it's gone  This is one of the few rides I remember going on back in 1989 when MGM had just opened . It was actually my very first trip to WDW and we did MK one day and then MGM…it was the end of May and 10 million degrees and because MGM had just opened there were 10 million people there. Right after we rode, my friend snapped and literally had a melt-down on the steps out in front of the GMR  Good times!

Here we are behind the others heading to GMR:

I forgot we didn't know the story of your title yet! Perfect :rotfl:

Great pic!

Your TR is in the home stretch! You can do this!! :cool1:

I'm glad you got to ride TGMR one last
Great family pic still can't get over how much Ricky has changed :goodvibes
TOT is the best ride :thumbsup2

Steve wanted to forget it but no way was I missing GMR for the last time and both boys sided with me, much to my surprise. Steve stayed and we were actually on the ride in about 45 minutes.

I'm glad you got to go on it one last time! Maybe it's better we didn't know our last time was the last time because I would've been crying if I knew

Funny, when I visit my sister in Ga., and way back when my parents lived down there and then when my mom lived in N.C., people always knew I was from NY. And the funniest part of all that is that they're the ones with accents, because New Yorkers don't have accents :snooty:

RIP Great Movie ride, you will be missed!
:sad1: :flower3:

This was never a must-do for us, and in fact, DD hated it so we rarely went on, but I'm really sad that it's gone
It was never truly a must-do for us except Chris since the only other ride in HS he liked was TSMM, but I did enjoy it. Just skipped it a couple trips. Steve and I rode it some of our adults only trips but not all, but it definitely was special to me

Your TR is in the home stretch! You can do this!! :cool1:
I can, I can!!! Thanks for having faith in me lol!

Great family pic still can't get over how much Ricky has changed :goodvibes
He'll be 16 in April, where does the time go???

I'm glad you got to go on it one last time! Maybe it's better we didn't know our last time was the last time because I would've been crying if I knew
True, probably better that you ended your time with GMR on a happy note

A big part of me wants to do a solo trip; this is a poor version of a solo trip since I won't be alone but it sans family like my Universal training trip last year, and it'll be my first time on Disney property with no other DeVizio's :)
Maybe this will get your feet wet for solo trips! :thumbsup2 My "possibly not a solo trip this spring" turned into almost definitely a solo trip and I'm actually kinda relieved  Although I must say I LOVED having my family in the parks with me this last trip ::yes::

It's funny because just the other day I was wondering where you were  I guarantee if I tried I could still win the title from you though lol
Awww  :goodvibes And then :rotfl:

Um.....Hi  I want to nominate myself for Worse Trip Reporter of 2017 and also nominate myself in my supporting role of Worse Trip Report Follower of 2017. I've been so bad at keeping up on my reports and yours the last few months.
Shame, shame, shame on you. What, do you have a life outside of this world or something? :P

Now before I move on -
ladies, can we talk SPARKLE SKIRTS???
I'll have to pull in Casey for you, because shockingly I got nothing. I don't even know what this is. i"m such a horrible girl

So glad you got to ride this one last time. I wish we knew it was our last time when we last rode it, I'm sure i would have taken it in much more. While I wish they had updated it, its kitch and classic movies eventually one me over. And of course my little old lady 6 year old loved it :-)

Where are we, Jir-sssssssiiiiiiii?""""" Steve and I looked at each other and started cracking up. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: I've been dying to know what this was and I had assumed it was something one of the boys said. I would have been cracking up right along with ya :-)

I can't believe your trip is so close!!!!

I was also hoping for the cowboy scene since we had the gangster scene a couple days before but we got the gangster again.
We rode this ride last March and I was really glad that we did after I had heard the news about it closing forever. I was a little bummed that I never got to see the cowboy scene. I was determined to ask the cast member if we could wait for it, but I completely forget to ask. Oh, well, at least we saw it.

We were going to HS to ride the Great Movie Ride for the.last.time :sad2::headache::sad:

Our FP's had been made before the closure was announced and by the time I tried getting one for today for GMR, they were gone.
We just happened to be in Disney when they closed the Maelstrom ride. We hadn't ridden it in ages and I had gotten a fastpass for it at 60 days out. When it turned out they were closing the ride all the fps were gone very quickly and standby lines were very long. I got lucky this time. :)
