cancelling a day that was booked using banked points

We are brand new to DVC. I have 3 nights booked in Oct. I banked points from this year and used those to make this reservation. If I end up canceling one of those nights (I might only need 2 nights), what happens to the points for that night? I just want to be sure I don't lose them...I don't think I do, but a I said, we are newbies.

UY, use year, the UY that the points were moved to.

Points need to be banked during the first 8 months of your UY. Your UY is not a calendar year. Points need to be available during the dates of your stay, not when you make the reservation. Banking moves points one UY forward, borrowing moves points one UY back. Banking and borrowing are final transactions and can not be reversed.

Say your UY is July. If you banked them from the 2017 to the 2018 UY, they would have to be used by June 30, 2019.

I assume you mean that you have have June UY. That means the points you banked will expire May 31, 2019 since you banked them into your 2018 UY. Remember the first day of your UY begins a new cycle. So past UY points expire the last day of the month before.

Borrowing and banking are, as pointed out, final transactions. And you cannot bank points that have already been banked.

Technically, they expire June 1. You can use them to book the night of May 31.
