Decided today to try at Cap'n Cooks at the Poly. Wow....are they really good and filling. Reasonable price too for ~$10.50.

Anyone else try them? Anyone try to make at home?

Yum!! Had these at the Poly before Christmas and have been craving them ever since. I am going to make them!

Yeah. The reason this seems legit to me is because the meatballs are really generic and can be prepped ahead. The sauce can be kept in a pot, ready to go.

From a home perspective, the meatballs can be subbed turkey, made vegetarian, or made GF easily enough. I have doubts the sauce would go vegan well without a lot of tinkering.

I'm definitely going to make this!
Quick question:

2 Oz "Garlic Chili Sauce

Is there a certain type of garlic chili sauce? I buy my ingredients (like thai curry paste and garlic chili paste) in Chinatown, Philadelphia and there are lots of garlic chili sauces and pastes. Am I looking for one with a lot of heat? Or more like siracha, with the sweetness?

I've never had this dish and I'm not sure if the meatballs are supposed to be spicy hot or not.

I don't know what they use, but I suspect it's the sweeter variety based on how they tasted, KWIM? I've used the sweeter in mine. They're still trying to appeal to mass tastes.

I'm guessing they mean garlic chili paste but I'm not sure, either. 2 ounces of that is significant, though. If I recall, the meatballs had a bit of heat but it's pretty faint. When/if I make them, I was going to use the paste just to taste and see how that goes.

That is a lot of cream and coconut milk for one pound of meatballs! Wow!

They at least CAN make them gluten-free as they ARE on the allergy menu as safe for gluten allergies. Whether they make 2 separate versions or they just make them gf in general I don’t know. I just know they are listed as safe on the allergy menu.

Unless they changed it- I was told by the manager there that they were made gf. I do not know if it has changed.

Awesome! I haven't had them yet - just been researching my gf options for my upcoming trip!
