Dining Service Quality Changes

Oh boy now I am worried about our upcoming cruise on the Fantasy in April. We had less than stellar service our last cruise with an assistant server in training and a huge language barrier to boot. Just hoping for the best.
We've been on 12 DCL cruises. The only server we've ever had issues with was a brand new assistant server who was a little slow, but did get better by the end of the cruise.

And we've never requested specific servers.

We are just off the Fantasy and had very good service. It was our 13th DCL cruise. We have been on all 4 ships in concierge and in regular staterooms. We have seen service slipping and I went in with low expectations but we were pleasantly surprised. Our team was attentive but didn't hover. We didn't feel rushed or that anything lagged. I hope our upcoming cruise is similar!

Sailed the Dream 12/22-12/26/17. Worst food since we began sailing in 2000. Good servers but didn't spend nearly the time as servers in the past had done. I thought maybe it was just my family that saw changes. Happily/sadly that is not the case. Service at Palo's was rushed and uncomfortable. Probably will not return.:(

I second everything you have written - we were on the Fantasy over NYE. Regular DR food was bleh - I was steered to the GF item every single night - when no item was GF I was steered to the “healthy choice” item. Translation - eat the steak or salmon cooked with no salt or proper and served with steamed vegetables. The one night I pushed for a regular menu item to be made gluten free it was HORRIBLE. DH ordered the same item glutenful and his was also horrible. It was the pasta sauce - we each had two bites and agreed we would go get food on the pool deck later.

I did comment on the comment card about food quality - and called out our servers for excellent service. Not their fault the food was average.

Our dinner at Palo was nice but rushed - even after a speech about how it was our night and to let the server know if the kids club texted - the courses were fast and we were and and out in maybe an hour and 10 minutes? Not what I am used to - perhaps the result of trying to fit in more seatings each night?

Sadly, bad food reviews reflects on the servers. I think it's unfair, but the thought process is, if the food is bad, the servers are responsible for directing you to better food.

I know, and I think it’s a load of crap and probably why we have crap food now. If we all say the food is excellent when it isn’t, then it will never change.

I’m going to be honest on my survey. Was the service excellent? Yes. The food? No. The servers don’t cook the food. They don’t choose the menu. I’m not going to lie to make the chef feel better.

Thanks for submitting an honest survey sheet. If nobody complains then things will not improve. I'm sad reading all of these updates since we had wonderful dining experiences in the past. I hope that DCL gets this message and does something about it.

Just got off the Magic. MDR service was actually about the best we've ever had. Server and assistant worked well together, pace was excellent, drinks constantly refilled, etc. We also thought the MDR food quality was very good this time around. We also really enjoyed the shawarma on deck, and lunch at Cabanas. The one area that seemed a bit off in terms of quality and variety was breakfast at Cabanas - not bad, but not as good as usual.
