You must cancel them before you can book 2 FPs for Park#2.

Then you use the “+” to add FPs for MK.

Always remember a total of 3 initial FPs - this is true whether you cancel some and rebook. It’s always a total of 3 that are “initial” FPs.

After that, you move to one at a time booking and usage. Never attempt to Modify a Park#1 FP to book a FP for Park#2 - that will not work.
Is this already in effect because I must not understand it if it is.
I’m in MK now.
I booked 2 FPS for each member of my party here. They included 4 different rides.
But MDE will not let me book the 3rd At Epcot.
It says 1 Park per day.
We have all used at least 1.
I went to a FP kiosk for help and they told me the same thing.

You can book Epcot once you’ve used the 2 MK FPs. You can’t hold 2 FPs at once for different parks on the same day.

It’s been in effect ever since it was posted here in this thread.

If you are following the steps as written and tested/used by others and you have park hopper tickets, Disney may have tweaked this but no one else has reported any problems.

Okay, I totally misunderstood.
I thought once it had recognized you were in a park and you had used a fastpass, then you could hold your 2nd for the first park and add the 3rd in a different park.
I didn’t understand you have to use the second one also.
I’ll try again then.
Thanks

Others have booked after FP#1 and used the “+” to choose the new park and FP#3 while still holding #2.

Let us know if after using FP#2, everything worked out. :)

Yes
After we used the 2nd ones, it allowed me to go to book at Epcot.
Unfortunately, there wasn’t much left.
Spaceship Earth wasn’t even available.

I think maybe the problem was that BTMR was down during our early fastpass time and it gave us another use anywhere pass. Maybe that counted as a 3rd pass for MK.

The MDX system has been glitching. If that BTMRR had been FP#1 for someone in your party, you would have had to book another FP#1 or use FP#2 prior to attempting to book for FP#3 in Park#2.

Thanks for reporting back in!

Just a quick note that I did this yesterday. Son & I did 4 parks in one day. Booked only 2 at MK and as soon as we scanned at the first I was able to go in and grab one for Epcot. Certain the issue above was the anytime FP.

Thanks, Marci! It definitely was the Anytime. :)

Hi,
Back home today and wanted to check back in. Glad to hear that you think it was the anytime pass that messed me up. I already have our next trip scheduled and planned to hop from Epcot to HS after finally snagging FRozen FPs.
Unfortunately this time the attraction that was down was our first FP. And our 2nd scheduled FP for SDMT wasn't until mid afternoon. We did all use the replacement FP (which I guess counted as an additional FP for magic kingdom) as quickly as possible, after which I tried to book for Epcot and hit the brick wall. And by the time we had used SDMT it was too late to get anything.
Interestingly, the attendant at the fp kiosk did not seem to be aware that you could theoretically book a different park after using the 1st of 2 original FPs. She was quite insistent that you can't get something for a second park while you still have an unused one for park 1.
Hopefully Frozen will be running on our next trip and we won't get caught by the multiple attraction anytime pass.

Kiosk CMs wouldn’t know about park hopping because the kiosks are park specific.

If you ever have a FP that converts to an Anytime and still need to use a FP before booking for Park#2, quickly Book something closeby and just ‘tap out’ at the FP touchpoint.

That will clear FP#1 and will allow you to book for Park#2. :)

In this scenario wouldn't that have created FP #3 so they still would have had to wait to book the second park? ie, they would have had the anytime FP, the new one they booked and tapped out and #3, SDMT in the afternoon.

That is basically what we did.
We all rode another ride fairly quickly but got the cannot book another park message after using that one.
So I really think it counted the anytime as an additional FP which then gave us 3 for MK and we therefore had to wait till we used them all.

This seems confusing but may be more clear once we get to the parks. I've read all the posts and the original instructions but am still a little confused about the tiers when booking additional FP's at other parks. So.....sorry if I've asked this but I really want to understand....If I have 3 FP's already booked, used one of them, not a tier one.....but still have that tier one....can I book another FP at another park for later that day? And can it be another tier one or not?

No, because you pre-booked 3 before you even arrived at Park#1, you’ll need to cancel a FP and then book any Tier for Park#2.

When park hopping, you can book any Tier for Park#2 and Park#3 if you choose to do so.

From my experience, the anytime basically "counts" as not existing at all so this is interesting. I would've expected if you had the first as your anytime and used it, that you would still be able to get 3 more for MK (so you could've booked one more immediately on your app from my experience). I would not think you could book for another park at this point since that one didn't exist. However, once you tapped your next one (assuming you hadn't, in fact, booked that "third"), I would have thought you could. It seems like from what you're saying that it still counted the first "anytime" one, saw your remaining two, and made you use both before getting your 4th. Anytime FP's are weird so I can't tell you for sure and this is hard to duplicate so hopefully it won't happen to you on your next trip again!

Thank you for this!!! I am new to the DIS Forums and my family will be making our First trip to WDW on Valentines 2018!

We Are looking forward to using all of these FP+ Best Practices!

So, you said I can't book another FP because I booked 3...but in my example I would have used one of those. Meaning 2 left. Can't I book at another park then? Or...are you saying I cannot have 3 booked before entering a park for this to work. Sorry I'm so slow on picking this up, I just want to make sure I get it.

But you still pre-booked 3. You can only have 3 initial FPs and you must use ALL 3 before you book #4.

If you are planning to park hop and want to use 1 FP and Book for Park#2, you must pre-book less than 3 FPs.
