Has the lava pool maintenance started yet?

As of yesterday, it was open, but the kids splash area was closed. I'm not 100% sure, but I think the lava pool maintenance starts tomorrow. We left this morning, so I won't be there to know for sure.

Anybody have any idea how long it’s supposed to last? We are booked for April and no mention was made. That would be a major bummer!

I’ve asked this before but since you’ve stayed there ...

In the bedroom with the small murphy bed, could you also fit a pack n play WHILE the murphy bed is pulled out and in use? Someone told me yes but looking at video tours I’m skeptical.
yes you can, along the side of the bed. you just won't be able to get access to the Closet

I just read about Fancy the duck on another thread. My DD and I were looking forward to meeting Fancy on our upcoming trip. Apparently Fancy has disappeared. Now we are crying over this poor animal we have never met, not to mention knew nothing about before today.
If anyone has any up to date information, we would appreciate it.

I already know I shouldn't ask about this...but my curiosity is getting the best of me.

Years ago when staying there we had a little duck friend that would come and sit on our patio, he had one foot that didn't work quite right, we nicknamed him "gimpy" and though we know better we would share popcorn and crackers with him. And in the quiet pool there was always "Romeo and Juliet" they were there every morning and evening and always together. Love the wildlife at Disney!

Thanks. We check in this weekend. Hopefully the splash area will be open. Fingers crossed!

Quick question!
When I booked my reservation months ago, "Marina views" were still "standard views". Now that they changed the room categories, I am worried I will not get my request for Fiji. Are there still standard rooms in Fiji? If not does anyone have any experience with Niue. I need a room near the Main building and the pool since Grandma cannot walk long distances. She will use an EVC for park touring but planning on walking to the main building for meals and walking to the pool without it. I just don't want a room overlooking a parking lot.

27 days to go before I am sipping a Pina Colava at the Volcano pool.

Call disney and have what you just said noted on your reservation: Grandma in EVC, request room near lobby and pools.

Use my map I posted recently. If room number is a room facing parking don't go there, go direct to lobby and request change.

Won't be long now! :drinking1

My mother and I stayed in Niue in December and loved it. Mom used an ECV in the parks and walked around the resort and it was perfect. Our room was on the first floor, the farthest corner from the GCH, but we still felt amazingly close - only a short hallway and few yards of walkway between Niue and the GCH. Our patio faced the grassy area between the Oasis pool and Rarotonga (not a pool view IMO), and the room felt very quiet. I highly reccommend it.

Sounds like a great location. I think I will call Disney today and ask for room location to be switched to Niue. Thanks

Niue is a great longhouse for a stay. The south entrance is the GCH, basically. When you exit the North side, take a left for the Lava pool, to the right is the Oasis pool. Great location.
That sounds like it would be perfect for Grandma. I usually request Fiji but since Grandma can't walk very far without help, this is a better location.
Thanks for letting me know

Hey everyone!!! So excited that we just booked our first stay at the Poly for August!!!!! I know its going to be HOT but do people hang out on the beach during the day? I know you cant get in but my family really likes the beach vibe. We will be spending a lot of time in the pools but thought we could hang out there too??

I want to stay at the POLY on my next trip however, I don’t know whether to stay in a standard room or studio? I was leaning more towards the standard room because of the location being closer to the ceremonial house & the fact that there are 2 real beds, but I hate the look of the room, the color scheme is just blah, it doesn’t feel like Hawaii at all to me. Now I know the studios are farther away from the ceremonial house but wow do they look so much better than the regular rooms! And you get an extra shower, 3 sinks, a microwave, & toaster. The price is very comparable for both but I just can’t decide. Help.

We loved the studio and were in Tokelau if I recall. Honestly it was a very short walk to the GCH. We also enjoyed being so close to the TTC! It was a girls' trip so we really appreciated the second sink area for getting ready. The room felt really spacious and I would highly recommend it. I did not sleep on the pull out so I can't speak to it's comfort...

I have seen a lot of discussion about this here on the boards but wanted to ask my Poly experts ---- do you find any difference in checking in online vs checking in at the hotel when you arrive? Any better chance of pixie dust one way or the other?

Rooms are assigned 3-5 days in advance, so there would be no impact on pixie dust. Be sure to have any requests put through in advance. Desk staff have very little ability to upgrade.
