Winter Olympics

I have a question about the opening ceremonies. It isn’t important but it kept bugging me. The 5 kids that were used throughout, 4 were wearing coats of the Olympic colors but the 5th was wearing beige instead of green. Is green an unlucky color or something?

I'm wondering this too! I did a search on it and unfortunately couldn't find an answer. However I did find out that green is considered GOOD luck in Korea, so...:confused3

Love the Winter Olympics...more than the Summer counterpart. Should be a great couple weeks of competition.

I watched the Opening this morning and then tonight on the NBC Sports app on my Apple TV I am watching the events live.

Such as? We haven't found them on our cable provider.
There are other channels that show it but mine for U-verse is all NBC-affliates.

For example events show simultaneously on channel 1041 and 1640 for me with U-verse. Recording works the best IMHO for events like these but of course not everyone has DVR. I still wish we could get more athletes performances rather than talking talking talking plus commercials but at least with recording I can fast forward through some stuff.

We’ve looked through every page of our onscreen guide. There is one channel with Olympic coverage - NBC. No DVR.

We're getting some events on NBC Sports and either USA or MSNBC? Whichever it is of the last two, the stuff is real early in the morning at least at first.

I'll just add Go Norway, Go Netherlands! I'm excited. :yay:

I've got stuff recording for 1am and 4am (and 6:35am) Central time tomorrow..'ain't no way I'm waking up for that stuff.

Most of the competition hasn't started yet. NBCSN has been showing Mixed Doubles Curling live, which means starting at 6:30PM EST, and then another set of matches starting like at 1:30AM EST. There has also been Ski Jumping and Moguls qualifying, and of course the figure skating. Today, there weren't events because the athletes were preparing for the Opening Ceremonies. Now that the games are "officially open" NBCSN will continue to have live coverage (which means if you want to watch you have to be up at night). USA Network and CNBC will also have coverage, but I'm not sure how frequent or if it will be live or delayed.

In our house, we have a Roku so we can just watch the individual event live streams or when we wake up, we can watch replays via the NBC Olympics App. You should also be able to load these streams on a computer if you are familiar with using your TV / Computer together (HDMI cable or Windows 10 features).

I really meant it when I asked if this was a spoiler thread back a few pages ago. Gingerly I went through the replies hoping to get an answer. Please. :)
I know no one has answered your question but I'd probably assume spoilers at least here and there especially as the competition heats up. IDK for sure just would probably assume spoilers.

The Opening Ceremonies Parade of Nations marching order based on the Korean "alphabet." USA is #26 and Canada is #69.

I wonder how NBC feels about the US marching relatively early. I remember they tried to get Rio officials to change the order from Estados Unidos to United States, but Rio said no. NBC was concerned ratings would nosedive after the US entered, and they were right.

Younger son has been asking me for weeks, "Are you taping the Olympics?" I tried to point out that with all the different stations and coverage, I won't be recording everything - I think our DVR would kill me in my sleep ;) But I did start looking through what's on in the next couple days to set the DVR for some of the things I know he'll want to see, like the freestyle skiing and snowboarding. :)

If he's interested, I might still have some VHS tapes from the 1988 Calgary and 1992 Albertville games down in my basement. I'll let them go cheap. ;)

Come on up north. We watched the opening this morning and now we have mixed curling on one channel and waiting for slope style on another.

On Thursday evening I watched the curling mixed doubles and men's downhill ski training runs on NBC-SN. But tonight they were showing Notre Dame college hockey. I'll have to check out the other NBC affiliated channels.

I'm watching on an Apple TV and I have a bunch of streaming options and can also watch replays. You can also watch on nbcolympics.com.

They did say that starting tomorrow you can watch the unedited version of the opening ceremonies on the NBC Sports App or nbcolympics.com so if you missed it tonight you can catch it tomorrow

or... if you started watching it, and then could not handle Katie Couric's and Mike Trico's constant inane commentary....

I wanted to turn the sound off, but then I couldn't hear the music. Like being at the movies when someone is constantly explaining the plot.
