Daily Fix - No Hot Water at CBR

I didn't see anything about this on the resort board so I thought I'd post here since I just watched the Daily Fix.

I totally agree with Pete - it's ridiculous with all the construction to have the resort be opened. But I would be pissed if I was staying there and had no hot water for all those hours. I always take a hot shower at night after being all sweaty in the parks and I hate cold showers. And sometimes, we wouldn't get back to the room until after 11 pm.

I love CBR - it's the resort that my husband and I honeymooned at, but wow, I wouldn't stay there until all the renovations are complete.

Completely agree with Pete this is ridiculous. Same with the Poly a few years back... either shut it down or offer a massive discount.

I’m glad he mentioned to not take it out on the cast members since it’s not their fault. Classy move there.

I agree as well but I see why Disney does it.

Disney is incredibly busy right now. They take that large moderate out of inventory and they could be sold out for most of the year.

Disney should definitely offer a better discount though for a resort in such a state.

For sure - and I suppose there isn't a slow season anymore for them to be able to do more renovations like this. But it still definitely sucks for those there right now. But yes, I hope no-one takes it out on the poor cast members who work there.

I can just imagine there are some people who book a stay there but aren't up on all the Disney news like we are and getting there and seeing the state of things. :(

Amen Pete!

I understand that WDW is busy year round but this is unacceptable! Maybe they should not have waited this long to renovate CBR or have construction projects at least 3 resorts at the same time (CBR, PC & CS). I feel the most for people visiting WDW for the first time who had no idea about the construction and went to CBR due to the price. Just curious how much of a “discount” these guests received.

I have family members at WDW right now on a first family trip. They originally booked CBR for $250/night until I told them to NOT stay there. They switched the reservation to POFQ and saved $300 on the 6 night package. The worst thing is how Disney minimized the impact of work being done in the description online.

I think it is shameful that Disney is still operating that resort like that.

With the flu going around can you imagine having a sick child who needs a shower/bath in the middle of the night? It happened to us years ago in Disney with a baby. She got sick on both ends. A bit cruel to force a baby or child into a cold shower/bath.

I’m glad that you were able to help them. It is absurd that people could stay at another moderate for less money.

I agree that Disney minimized the amount of construction going on at CBR. I sincerely hope that everyone who stayed there last night will complain to Disney about this.

Man, that is rough. Sorry that she got sick like that. I was thinking the same thing. This is one of the many reasons I find this ridiculous.

Ironically, their toddler son threw up around midnight last night due to overindulging at dinner...and he needed to take a bath because he did it in bed all over himself. They had to call housekeeping for new sheets. I shudder to think how that would have gone down at CBR.

The first reservation they made at CBR was for a preferred room, and the POFQ was just a standard room so I think that contributed to the lower price of POFQ. Regardless, they actually added another night since POFQ was so much less. When she told me about CBR, she said "It just says there will be some construction noise between 9am and 5pm and the pool will be closed but that is okay because it will probably be too cold to swim." I had to tell her about the tent food court, lack of main building shops and amenities, intermittent power and water outages, etc. Thank goodness I listen to the podcast and knew about it!

Needless to say, they are VERY happy they weren't at CBR last night. And it was hot yesterday and all her kids wanted to do was go back to the hotel and swim. LOL!

I hope all with no hot water gets the night refunded ??? !! Do they ?
No. They were told in advance to prepare them. Of course that still doesn’t make it right or an ideal situation but Disney will point to the fine print and say they can do this.

We are staying there in August. I REALLY hope Disney has CBR all fixed up by then, but IF they still don't have the resort up to real Disney standards, I hope they at LEAST compensate guests with some fast passes, a free meal or something. We have some very young and old on the trip and we DID pay over $200 a night - I am getting very concerned hearing about just how bad the situation is over there. As DLgal says, the impression I got when we booked was that the construction work would be "minimal" and barely noticed, if it's still like this come August 2018, I think a free night is a bit too much to ask for, but hope Disney will offer some type of offsetting compensation (as I said fastpasses etc I think would be appropriate)...

The Old Port Royale work is said to be done this summer but stuff like the gondolas and Rivera Resort won’t be done until 2019 so there will still be construction on site.

Utter insane. But Disney will get away with it, and they know it. People will just take it.

Wow. Very poor customer service. Well I guess as long as folks keep spending their vacation dollars at Disney I guess Disney can do as it wishes... Very sad.

Disney does put a disclaimer when booking that the resort is undergoing work. Obviously that isn’t deterring people though.
