Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

We look at waiting at Disney as just part of the day. Sometimes we need to wait for buses but not often. I find if I actually look at my watch and time the wait it's less than I feel like it is.

Park closing is busy, that's a given. We prefer to either leave a bit before it closes, enjoy some shopping time after park closure to let the bus lines go down or, brave the crowds and wait it out.

I will say when we're leaving MK and heading to Pop, we will let people pass by and wait for another bus to arrive if it means we need to stand. Pop is about a 15 min ride from MK so our preference is to wait a bit and get a seat.

Same for us. Bus lines are part of our vacation. We do not mind them. At park closing, we generally wait it out in The park for quite a while - people-watching on a bench, soaking in the atmosphere. The best is watching Illuminations from Morocco, then hanging out until the area clears and SLOWWWWWWLY meandering to the entrance. At MK one time, we sat on a bench near Adventureland and watched it clear out, then moved to Main Street and did the same thing, then moved to a bench outside the gates and sat for about an hour. My kids just leaned into me and rested. It was SO peaceful. Once the line for the bus was short, we just got in line, got on the bus. No muss, no fuss.

We, also, will wait for a bus to sit on. We stand off to the side if we are up to get on the bus and there are no seats. I know another will be along shortly and we will have our pick.

Another question. In the refurb rooms do they put travel size toiletries or are they the pump things on the walls?

Ohhh a kindrid spirit! I am one who can just sit and look at my surroundings too. It's so calming and there are so many pretty things to notice.

Our updated room in building 7 / 80s had the dispensers in the shower with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. There is still a bar soap toiletry for use at the sink.

All these posts about the buses is making me wonder if we should do a car rental instead... :/ Has anyone went to Pop in late July? The idea of waiting in that heat with a 2 year old has me nervous lol Hopefully since its a popular time they accommodate with more buses.

I've decided I like having a car rental because I can leave property (to do things like go to Publix) and I find it easier/faster to drive to get to Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. (MK I'll still take the bus.) But I started renting a car for flexibility, not because using the buses was ever a specific issue or factor to make me not want to use them.

Checked out today and heading to our cruise. We were in room 7222 in the 80s - it was a handicapped accessible room. Not ideal for us, but our original room assignment was in the 50s, and we were able to get this one instead.

Generally, our stay here was ok, but it was a lot louder than we were used to... both outside and within the room.

Buses have been fine. Construction still happening - loud by the bowling pin pool today and appears to be workers in building 3 of the 50s, so making progress.

Glad we tried this, but I am not sure we will be back. AKL spoiled us, I think!

I LOVE LOVE Pop! I recommend it to everyone and never hesitate staying here. But I don’t think we will be back for a bit :/ We’re considering renting points and staying AKV next time.

We did that last month with BW. It was great being so close to two parks. Both HS and Epcot were withing a fifteen minute walk.

Most definitely! I think you see way more when you are not rushing. You don't go home feeling as though you need to recover, either.

Buses to and from MK have been great. I have no complaints there, it’s been everywhere else that has been kind of slow. Also them being packed full. We should of rented a car, but honestly my husband and I can’t remember a time the buses were this full and we typically come in summer. I’m 7months pregnant, so standing is just very difficult on the bus and makes me super nervous. Only once and has someone offered me their seat, and you can visibly see I’m pregnant. I don’t expect someone to offer me their seat either for the record. I just really didn’t expect having to stand every time we got on a bus.

Someone should absolutely have offered you a seat!!!

Any experience at Pop with super early buses? We are hoping to RD AK on an EMH morning, so would need to take a bus by 6:45 or so (to make it there an hour before opening.) Should I just Uber?

No guarantee the first DAK bus will arrive by 6:45 AM-it could but Uber would allow you to control when you get to DAK and alleviate any "stress".:)

I would be surprised if you needed an Uber. We were going to AK (on a non-EMH) morning and were at the bus stop almost 2 hours before RD and a bus was waiting.

If you're concerned I would recommend walking to the bus stop, checking the bus wait times board and if you're not comfortable then taking and Uber at that point.

I agree with scrappinginontario -- they are going to provide buses timed to whatever the EMH is for a park. I've taken a bus in plenty of time for a 7am EMH at Magic Kingdom, for example.

But they want to take a bus BY 6:45 AM-no guarantee the first bus for an 8:00 AM EMH at DAK will be there by 6:45 AM.:)

6:45 is 75 mins before park opening. I took a bus to AK 105 mins before park opening. Disney is well familiar with how busy AK is these days and is providing transportation to the park early and even earlier on EMH mornings. They may not be there by 6:15 but they will start running at 6:30 which is still 90 mins before EMH.

Thank you! I guess I just need to show up a little extra early (ugh...) check the times board and see.

The earlier the better!lol:)

The main thing is to be sure to catch the FIRST DAK bus.

Just an FYI,the first bus to DAK during our trip in January at All-Star Sports came at 7:07 AM for a non-EMH regular 9:00 AM open.

With it being an AM EMH however, the first bus to DAK "should" come well before then.:)

One cool thing is the Bus Boards have a new display and it is so much better than the original display.

I don't know how we got by without the Bus Boards!:)

Here is the new display and the old display-HUGE improvement!
