I can’t make the expo

I’m debating signing up for the food and wine challenge. I won’t be getting to Orlando until Friday evening. Would I be able to do bib pickup in the morning before the race?
Thanks

While Disney doesn’t advertise it, you can pick up bibs on race mornings. Just prepared to get there early because from what I’ve heard is a worst keep secret than DVC. :)

Ok I was signing up for the race and it specifically says “ no packet pick up morning of the race.” So my question is has it always said that but they still let you(worst kept secret) or has this wording been added recently?
This amount of money makes me nervous.
Thx

Disney doesn’t advertise it because they don’t want everyone doing it.

The question is, are you willing to risk the money? Emergency bib pickup is intended to cover runners who have cancelled flights or issues beyond their control that prevent them from making the Expo. The more people abuse the emergency system, the more likely it is to go away. My advice would be to either arrange to get there in time for the Expo on Friday or just run the half.

I would never sign up for a Disney race planning to pick up the bib race morning. If something unintended and out of your control happens after the fact try it but I would not risk my registration fees on the past behavior of RunDisney. It isn't officially allowed and they can decide at any time to totally cancel it or require proof you didn't have an option like asking for your initial flight information.

Obviously your risk tolerance may be much higher than mine.

They have offered morning-of pickup for people who have had flight cancellations and other problems. Those are the people it's intended for. The more people who use it because they opt to schedule their flights to arrive too late to hit the expo, the more likely it is that Disney will stop offering it.

I have an Expo-related question....I should be fine in terms of my flight getting to Orlando early enough on Saturday to make it to the Expo before it closes on Saturday, but I don't think I have time to go from the airport to the resort to drop off my bags and THEN to the Expo.

Has anyone seen people hauling their luggage around the Expo if they had to come straight from the airport? I don't guess there's a chance there's any kind of bag check at the Expo itself is there?

Never seen any bag check there but I’m guessing people have taken their luggage with them to the expo.

So this another one of those things you’re not supposed to do but people do it - you could sign up for DME, put the DME tags on your bags so they get routed for delivery to your resort, and then just not take DME. Uber/Lyft/ taxi to expo. Technically your supposed to be on the bus but Disney doesn’t enforce it. I did it for marathon weekend and bags were delivered to my room.

I have definitely seen people with their luggage. I don't believe there are any facilities for bag check, but you could always ask.

One thing to note (although it may not apply specifically in this case) they would not allow our stroller in either the merchandise building or the tshirt/expo building at the W&D expo last year. This was especially hard to carry my sleepy daughter and all my stuff. I don't know why that is not permitted and why rolling luggage would be.
We thought it may have just been an overzealous volunteer but we got stopped multiple times with a "no stroller/park it outside" from multiple people.

Just throwing it out there!!!

I'd imagine there's a lot more people that would want to take a stroller in the Expo, than rolling luggage. I've never specifically noticed anyone with rolling luggage at packet pickup/expo, so there probably isn't a lot of them. But I've definitely noticed MANY families with very young children, that probably would have a stroller if allowed.

Well, if I get any resistance from security, maybe I'll just bribe a family to let their small child sit on top of my rolling luggage so that it'll be allowed.
