Star Wars Land Opening Info/Rumors?

Well I am back YAY!!!!.. trying to plan a trip for next year ( to me planning is the most fun) and would love to be at WDW when the Star Wars land is up and running. Looking at heading out June 2019.. what do my friends here think... is that a safe bet? Is there a thread I should be following? Any and all info is as always so much appreciated TIA!!!!!!!!

I think June would be too early. It will probably open May/June in DL and maybe September/October for WDW.

I believe the latest word from Disney is "late 2019" do June is probably much too early.

Personally I'm planning for late April/early May specifically because I'm hoping to avoid it and that some people will be shifting their trips later in the year to catch it.

I'm actually thinking we'll go in 2020 to make absolutely sure it's open when we next travel to WDW. Plus I doubt I can get DH to go back any sooner than that, anyway.

June is even iffy for Disneyland Star Wars land at this point, and that one is WAY ahead of WDW's.

I am going to say WDW will be October/November timeframe, at the earliest.

Unlike most of the world, I am trying to avoid the opening of Star Wars Land next year. Im currently planning a trip to WDW late August 2019. Does anyone know what month this venue will open? Ive seen summer for DL and fall for DW, also summer for both. No month or day mentioned. My fingers are crossed they are way behind schedule and it is all postponed until 2020

This is purely speculation, but I'd bet on Memorial Day weekend-ish for DL, and sometime in December for WDW. Partly because I bet they're going to run behind at WDW, partly because those are usually busy times of year (school breaks = more people with free time in their schedules = families are more likely to book a trip to come check out the brand-new Disney stuff) plus the last Star Wars movie in the current trilogy is set to be released Dec. 19, 2019. Think of all the synergistic cross-pollinating marketing opportunities!

Edited to add: I think the only "official" opening times have been "summer 2019" for DL and "late 2019" for WDW. I'm sure they don't want to box themselves in if they run into issues with construction timelines.

This is fantastic if it happens that way. 2 rumors of after August for WDW is keeping me hopeful for next year! Ive never been in August before, but with my DD now in high school, its impossible for her to miss too many days of school without a tremendous amount of work to make up. We typically go for 11 nights -12 days and Christmas break is out of the question $$$$$$$....so summer it is!

What do you mean? Looking at probably early summer or at least before or with D23 in August. Disney said it would be open by the next D23.

Sorry, yes I meant what do they class as a summer opening. If August is the biggest clue available I’ll go ahead and book for early June as that works better for us, but if there was a more specific date given I’d book at that time to be sure we’d get a chance to visit after it opens.

They likely won’t give a more specific date until a 4-6 months out like they have with other lands that have opened recently.

its anyone's guess. I agree that opening DL at Memorial Weekend seems like a really good goal. i keep reading that WDW is 6 months behind, and then that they are catching up. My guess, and that's all it is, is opening around Labor Day. I hope so as we will be there in October. And we don't want to be there right at the opening. Or if we can catch a soft opening in October and have it open around thanksgiving would work really well for us.

It is sometimes hard to tell where they are at WDW compared to DLR as they aren't necessarily building everything in the same order - so something are way behind at WDW and other things / building seem further along.

Obviously you never know but I think Labor Day would be really aggressive for it to open at WDW - I think October or November is more likely so if you are going in October there is a good chance it won't even be open then or just in soft opening, etc. (depending on when in November)

Over in the UK we also have the last Monday in May off, it's called either the late May bank holiday or spring bank holiday. (Not that anyone needed to know that but I thought I'd share it anyway lol)
