Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Those are great maps! Looks like the majority of views are garden with lagoon being next. I think we will book Yacht Club garden and when the time comes request second floor.

Thanks for the maps!

I have a reservation for a standard room and while this is our 9th trip to Disney we have never stayed at the BC. I need to make room requests soon and would love input. We have 2 kids and will be busing to MK and AK but planning to walk or use the boats to both Epcot and HS. I am unsure of the layout as far as what would put us close to the doors we would need to leave both for buses and the walking paths. I appreciate your help.

I would request "Close to lobby". Remember requests are not guaranteed but it's worth a shot to ask.

If you are near the lobby that would kind of center you to get to the buses and walking paths. Be sure to read page one of this thread where all the tips and tricks are archived. The information that Dee has compiled are pure gold and they will definitely help you out.

Our October trip is correct (slumming in a garden cottage over at BW, trying not to be terrified of the clown pool)

Our December trip has expanded, adding another split. Not sure if it’ll stay like this, but it’s currently:

bookbabe626 Dec 30-Jan 2 BC SV (split stay 3 nights WL, 4 nights POFQ, BC, then 4 nights Poly)

It was our May trip where we tried out YC, with a verdict of “it’s better than a lot of places, but not better than BC”

<grin> And we’re currently in negotiations for February and May...after all, since we’re got APs, it’s like we have free tickets, so we might as well use them, right?

Sounds like a FANTASTIC holiday trip, and I look forward to haring about your potential 2019 trips...

Hi Everyone!!

We are staying at the Beach Club for the first time Aug 16-20th. We usually stay at the Pop Century, but we're splurging this year on a shorter stay. (I turn 40 in November, but I'm celebrating all year!!)
We have a wood/garden view booked, and my hubby really wants a ground floor room. Do ground floor rooms have an exterior door to a patio? If so, can you open them from the outside with a magic band (so you don't have to walk inside)? I guess for that matter, do all ground floor rooms even have a patio? I tried looking at pictures, but I can't really tell.

Thanks so much!! We can't wait!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15.

:cool1:

As far as I know, all ground floor rooms at the Beach Club and Yacht Club have a patio. As Sammie points out, the patio door should not be used to exit the room (for the day) since there is no way to lock it from the outside and your Magic Band will not be able to unlock it from the outside, either.

::yes::

Thank you @helenb for those maps.

Nice to see that the 5193 room, which has no balcony, has been downgraded to a standard club. I remember seeing reports of it being a water view in the previous years.

5163, I believe.

:goodvibes

We’ve been at Disney since Monday, staying at POR, and tomorrow we check into YC. We’ve really enjoyed our time at POR, but are looking forward to the YC.

Have a fabulous time!!!

As ~Ninja points out, a room near to the lobby, or lobby elevators puts you closest to transportation and the walking paths. I would also recommend adding on a request for a room with a full balcony if that is important to you. Put the requests in your priority order, for example:

"Room with full balcony, please. Close to lobby, if possible"

Hooray- we are coming back to BC! It may seem silly for a local to stay (& pay), but Food and Wine and driving don’t mix when you’re the only driver. So my sister made our reservation for Oct 22-29. Fun for me because I work the 28th and 29th. But I’ll be only about 5 minutes driving back to the hotel. So looking forward to it. See, next time you’re updating the BoG list, please add us. Thanks! Anyone else who will be there then, look for a crazed woman chasing after 2 ECV’s and say Hi.

As other people have said, the ground floor rooms have a sliding patio door that only locks from the inside. We once, or twice, had a lagoon view ground floor room that was steps away from the main sidewalk. We would exit the room via the sliding doors, leaving one person, usually a teenager who ran fast, to lock the patio door and then meet us on the sidewalk. But with a woods/garden view you have a very good chance of having a room that is near one of the outside exit doors that will give you a quick exit without having to go all the way back to the lobby. :)

We’ll be there October 26-30. I’ll have to look out for you!

Just back from a 6 night stay - our first at YC. Our first room was a connecting room with a king bed but we could hear a kid screaming through the door so we hiked back downstairs to ask to be moved since we left our kids at home :) They were happy to move us as long as we were okay with losing a king room. They gave us the option of a 1st floor or 4th and we opted for 4th.

Moved into the 2 queen room and when we went to bed that night the mattress smelled like urine. Strongly. Pulled the sheets off and the mattress was dampish. It was so icky. They were great about changing out the mattress for us and gave us a credit on our account even though we insisted it wasn't necessary. We were in 4118 and had a great view of trees and the room was super quiet and it wasn't a bad hike to the elevators.

After that we had a great stay with no problems at all. The cast members working at The Market at Ale and Compass were great about my food allergies which surprised me a little! They actually make the allergy friendly items in the kitchen at Cape May and bring it to you at The Market. We had pre dinner cocktails a couple of times in the Ale and Compass lounge and made a last minute reservation at Ale and Compass and were really happy with the service at both. Ale and Compass ended up being one of our favorite meals of the week

Discounts became available this morning for the time frame that we are at Disney in the fall. I called at 8am this morning and was told that there was nothing available at Boardwalk, Yachtclub or the Beachclub. I asked to check for discounts on a day by day basis and still nothing. How can that be? Frustrating!!!

I'm trying to figure out what to request for our room. It's a 1 BR Dec 27-Dec 4 at BCV. Do the 5th-floor rooms have a full balcony? I would rather have a 1st floor room with a patio or top floor with a chance for a view but I am unsure. This is a laid-back trip, golf a couple of times and parks early and late most days. No need to ride it all and kill ourselves trying. I have not even looked to see what we might want to eat for ADR's and it's time to do them. I just don't really want to be tied down but I know at that time of year we need to make them.

If you haven't already, maybe spend some time online searching. Sometimes I find day by day yields no discounts, but a 3 or 4 night stay does. I often have to try various dates to see what pops up.
They don't make it easy, that's for sure.

We book standard rooms and have gotten a king bed twice so keep your fingers crossed because they do exist

Anything is possible! We stayed at AKL last year and had requested a king room. We ended up having to sleep one night in a queen room, but then switched to the king for the rest of our 3 nights.

ooo! thats exciting! I will keep my fingers crossed. I'm so excited for this stay I CANT WAIT

All BCVs have full balconies. Some are bigger than others
I definitely believe ADRs are essential that week

Because of Food and Wine, the Epcot resorts reach their target occupancy rate without the need for a discount. It wouldn't make any sense for them to offer a discount on a room that is already booked at rack rate.

I'll bring my citation book. We'll be there [BCVs] 10/17 - 10/25, so if I see any speeding ECVs :moped:I'll say "Hi" after I give them their tickets! :rolleyes1
