I can't tell if we've landed...Spring Break 2018 with Grammy and the teens-UPDATE 9/30

We then headed back to the wildest ride in the wilderness

which I had never done at night, but it was SOOOOO much better than during the day! I don't know why exactly, but it was super fun and more scary :scared1:

It is so much better at night. What's funny is that my dd5 didn't really like it that much the first few times she rode it during the day but completely loved it when we went on it at night for the first time. Then it became one of her favorites. Go figure! I think Everest is better at night too. We haven't done 7DMT at night but I would like to.

So, I read all the way through and had all these multi-quotes ready to go...and then my browser crashed! Anyways, seems like you were having a good time, angsty teenagers aside!

Just joined...great report...love all the pics..

Thank you and :welcome:

I'll definitely be doing BTMR at night from now on! I'll have to try to stay at AK past sundown one of these days. I've had plans to on our last two trips but it just hasn't worked out. I'd love to try EE at night, but I'll have to wait for the kids for that..I am barely brave enough to do it by myself during the day! When I go with Mike in October he won't go on EE at all so it'll have to wait :sad1:

Argh! :badpc: I hate when that happens! It was a perfect day :D

EARLY MORNING MAGIC

So this will have you all scratching your heads, and questioning my planning capabilities, but this morning we were going BACK to the MK for some Early Morning Magic.

You may recall that initially Sunday (arrival day) was going to be a MK day and Monday (yesterday) was going to be DHS. I ended up having to switch those because TSM was closing the fastpass line and Sunday was the last day we could get one. Anyway, this actually worked out well because we were able to skip FPs for Seven Dwarves Mine Train and Peter Pan…and I guess Winnie The Pooh (not that we would have ever made one for that) and focus on other things yesterday, knowing that we could ride those today.

As you can see, we actually made our FPs for today at Animal Kingdom,

So our plan was to spend the am at the MK then hop to AK to spend the afternoon/evening. Let's see how that works out, shall we?

Ah, it was so nice of WDW to add a rainbow right over the MK, just for our EMM  Those clouds look a little ominous, though...

We got to the MK at about 7:40 and were let in at 7:45. They were allowing two groups in, those with EMM and those with breakfast ADRs. This is about as empty as I can get Main Street in the morning…someone was blowing bubbles nearby that I thought would look cute in the photo, but they end up looking like my lens was dusty. Can anyone spot the Hidden Mickey in the next photo???

Once we got to Fantasyland, the crowds really dispersed, as you can see in this lovely shot of Grammy :P

More EMM in next post...

I’ve seen PP photographers specifically use people’s bubbles to get fun photos! And I totally saw the Mickey in the bubbles!

EARLY MORNING MAGIC-2

Early Morning Magic in Fantasyland includes a buffet breakfast at Pinocchio Village Haus, plus as many rides on Peter Pan, Seven Dwarves Mine Train and Winnie the Pooh as you can get in before the park opens at 9. I have heard that the carousel is occasionally running for EMM, but not this day.

The nice part about the buffet breakfast is that it was open when we got there and you can go in and out as many times as you please. We went in first thing and grabbed coffee and a pastry to tide us over…sorry but I didn't take any pictures of the buffet. There was coffee, juice, eggs, waffles, pastries, etc. But at this point we just wanted to take advantage of the rides, knowing that the buffet stayed open until 10 (I believe), so we went in and right back out.

You can see how empty FL was…

Definitely before Grammy had her coffee :P

After a little caffeine, we hit PP first. Literally nobody else on it...

:sad1: I would love to get a couple of good pics on PP. I'm wondering if I should have videoed and screen shotted. Sadly, all my pics came out like this, or worse...

From PP we made our way over to 7DMT...

As we were getting off our first go 'round of 7DMT, I heard someone calling my name. I looked up and saw my very good friend from home! I knew she was going to be there because I told her about it and made her sign up, but at that moment I had completely forgotten and I was so surprised to run into her! We chatted and asked a very nice CM to take our photo. And then we all got right back on and rode together a couple times. We split up but since there was so few people, we kept running into each other. It was too funny :-)

After a couple times on 7DMT, we headed over to WtP…

Not sure what was happening there, but we only did this one once…that was enough :P

More EMM in next post...

We've never been able to take advantage of EMM going during Thanksgiving week and Spring Break. I'm hoping we will this year as DD Spring Break is earlier and Easter is in April.
How fun to ride 7DMT multiple times and run into someone from back home :yay:
I love the pic of you and your Mom on PP :goodvibes

EARLY MORNING MAGIC-3

At least he's not scowling

22.jpg

It had been a really long time since I had been on WtP. It is really cute, but definitely for the younger kids.

Allow me to digress a moment and tell a story...In March 2003 we took Nicholas to my dad's place in Georgia for a week and since we were so close, we decided at the last minute to go to WDW. We literally called a day ahead and made a reservation in a Garden Wing room at The CR (where BLT now stands), one ADR at Chef Mickey's and went to all four parks, totally on a whim. On Spring Break. If anyone told me today that they were going to do this I would tell them they were INSANE!

But what the heck did I know?? The only other time I had been to WDW was in May 1989 right after MGM had opened, I went to MK for a day and MGM for a day. So yes, in March 2003, I was very much a total noob and knew absolutely NOTHING about the planning involved in visiting WDW, but despite all that, we still had a great time. Shortly after that trip (well, really a couple years because then Allison was born and I was busy with a newborn and a two year-old), I REALLY started planning for a REAL trip and that's when I found these boards and my life has never been the same :rotfl:

Anyway, when I was looking at the WtP pictures, I was thinking about that trip and that's one of the ONLY rides I remember going on. I remember vividly standing in line for at LEAST 90 minutes in the blazing hot sun-the queue was still mostly outside at the time-and Nicholas fell asleep right when we finally got to the end of the line. He slept through the WHOLE ride :faint: I'm not even sure if FastPass was a thing in 2003…I know that by our next trip in May 2006, I had learned about it (thanks to DisBoards) and I don't think I've EVER waited 90 minutes for a ride again!

Some bad photos (pre-digital so these are pictures of pictures) from that trip:

He's so excited to finally be on his first ride:
w2.jpg

He finally did wake up afterwards and somehow/somewhere we met Pooh and Tigger, but I have no idea where. I think it was near the ride:

w4.jpg

Just a couple more and I promise I'll get back to EMM…

Woody and Bullseye were just hanging out on the steps in Frontierland:

The ONE and only picture I took in our Garden Wing CR room :sad2: Bad Trip Report Writer I was! And actually, I really wish I had taken more photos in general because I love looking at vintage WDW photos. It was totally different then though, before all the digital and phone cameras.

And lastly, one last photo on our way home of Nicholas with Bear, from Bear in the Big Blue House, which was a huge Disney Channel hit back then:

Thanks for allowing me the trip down memory lane, now back to more EMM...

I can't even recall exactly how many rides we got on 7DMT, but it was at least seven or eight.

The kids actually got burnt out and left me and Grammy while they went back to the buffet at one point. I figured I would just keep riding until the lines starting forming, which they did very quickly once 9 am came.

Knowing the buffet would stay open until 10, Grammy and I decided to hit up a couple more rides before eating.

Continued in next post...

The Early Morning Magic looks so fun!

I definitely recommend it!

We've never been able to take advantage of EMM going during Thanksgiving week and Spring Break. I'm hoping we will this year as DD Spring Break is earlier and Easter is in April.

I'm kind of feeling that way about DAH. I would love to go this October, but with all the MNSSHPs going on, I don't think it will happen :sad1:

I love the pic of you and your Mom on PP :goodvibes

:thanks::-)

Ok those baby pics of Nicholas are adorable
That’s great they keep the breakfast open till 10:00 giving you time to ride then eat once the crowds come

Let's see how that works out, shall we?
lol sounds like plans may have had to be switched up, much like most of our days back in March!

At least he's not scowling
I think this could be a universal TR title for anybody with teen boys...........................

Some bad photos (pre-digital so these are pictures of pictures) from that trip:
OMG I love all these pictures! Nicholas was adorable, love his curly hair

Woody and Bullseye were just hanging out on the steps in Frontierland:
We met them when we took the boys for the first time in 2006, and Ricky LOVED Bullseye back then. But I think we met them over in MGM, in a cute area themed to Toy Story.

And lastly, one last photo on our way home of Nicholas with Bear, from Bear in the Big Blue House, which was a huge Disney Channel hit back then:
Aw Bear, another character Ricky (and I) loved. Thanks for your trip down memory lane which was also kind of a trip down my memory lane

I would love to get a couple of good pics on PP. I'm wondering if I should have videoed and screen shotted. Sadly, all my pics came out like this, or worse...
I always feel like the only way to get good PP photos is to be an expert and have a special camera, since it has to take low light, as well as moving. But low light means the camera shutter opens wider and stays open longer to try and let in more light, which is the exact opposite of what you want for moving shots! I think the only times I can get a non blurry photo on any dark ride is if I’m lucky to snap when we’re stopped momentarily or if there is enough light in the scene! Otherwise just a blur of colors and shapes!

The pics from your 2003 trip are absolutely adorable and priceless! :goodvibes And I love all your ride pics from 7DMT. Especially the first one with you and Grammy in the front seat! :-)
