DIY 'Mickey' ears..

As we all know, those ears can get expensive!! I have seen so many tutorials on Pinterest and youtube on how to make these, so my daughter and I are going to give it a try. I will admit, however, I am not the most crafty person, but I try.

Has anyone here made these? If so, how easy, or difficult, are they to make? In addition, my daughter wants to try making a pair of Ariel ears and wants to include a little dinglehopper on them. I can't seem to find one. Any ideas as to where to find such an item to put on the ears? I don't want it too big, and certainly not too sharp.

Lastly, if you've made some ears, I'd love to see them! TIA!

Good luck!! I haven't made any myself; it's on my to do list but further down the road once all the munchkins are back in school. :)

I wish I had an answer for your dinglehopper dilemma. I will try to search online and see if I can help you out with that.

I haven't made any myself. I always run out of time before our trip! I'm looking forward to seeing what you and your daughter do. Please post photos of your finished products!

I bought some simple / basic Mickey ears on Amazon and 'dressed them up".

For the black ones, I painted the "ears section" with basic craft paint. I used the little things of paint you get at Michaels or any craft store for about $1. It takes about 3 coats and each coat takes about an hour to dry. I lined the edges of some of them with trim using a hot glue gun. then we added really cute bows [like the minnie mouse bows on all the ears Disney sells....attaching them with a hot glue gun].

Wish I knew how to post photos...tehy turned out well. :)

I have made lots of them...Cinderella themed, Princess Leia, Darth Vader, Merida, Daisy Duck, silver sparkly ones, pink and rose gold ones, [I may have a slight addiction to minnie ears]

I just thought of something; what about a plastic fork and maybe add glitter to it or rhinestones to the handle of it?
That's a good idea, though I don't know if the fork will be too big (though it's cheap enough that it won't break the bank if it doesn't work). We can certainly spray it with glue and coat it in glitter (that will be a fun mess.. lol). Our first ears will be Chewbacca. Might start on them tonight. Just need to stop at Walmart after work.

Absolutely!! Will likely start on a pair tonight, and will take photos of the process (good and bad). May have to work on a new blog post.

What about a plastic cocktail fork? I know they sell them at dollar stores. They're usually around 2 1/2 - 3 inches long.

We are in the process of making 25 ears for our Oct trip. 1 set for every day in the parks. We are doing animal print ears, toy story ears, stitch ears, black ears with minnie bows and princess ears. It's our 1st time making them so hoping they turn out okay. I'll post pictures when done in the next couple of months. I searched online for inspiration and was amazed at all of the creativity.

Wow!
I decided to make some ears for our upcoming trip and thought 5 was ambitious (and 3 of those are simple bows with vet minor embellishment). I may add a 6th pair but we leave in 2 weeks and I’m running out of steam. Good luck, I can’t wait to see how they turn out!

@Michelle Carter those are all too cute!

That's why we started now for October! I also have my daughter and granddaughter helping. My bows are simple and some are store bought. The toy story and princess ones have embellishments. The others are very simple. We saw so many diy ears at the parks 2 years ago it made us want to make some. Do you have pictures of yours? I would love to see them.
