The Broadway show thread where we discuss all things Broadway

In recent memory, I wish we had found someone to take our tickets to Love Never Dies. Ugh, what a waste of time.

Saw Hamilton on Friday night - my wife and I both walked out just speechless. It was so good!
Awesome! I’m seeing Hamilton this holiday season. It’s finally coming down to South Florida.

My brother’s been getting me exposed into more Broadway musicals. I’ve seen Jersey Boys, The Little Mermaid, and The Lion King in NYC. I’m hopefully seeing Dear Evan Hansen in December. I’d love to see The Book of Mormon, it’s my absolute favorite. My brother dressed up like Elder Price at Supercon. He was super popular lol!

I saw a production of "Love Letters" with George Hamilton and Joan Collins. Joan Collins was fabulous. George Hamilton had a tan. He was AWFUL! The play was so stupid.

Haven't been keeping up with this thread, so apologies if this was brought up before.

PMP Team-- are those of you who held Unmasked tickets going to be seeing The Color Purple? I was personally thrilled when the switch happened, I really loved the Broadway revival and it looks like the tour is the same production with a different cast.

Just got back from an awesome week in Boston and we were lucky enough to get tickets for "Moulin Rouge". This production is only in Boston through the 19th of August and is then moving to Broadway, although I don't know exactly when. We loved it - the singing and dancing were amazing, lots of comedy as well. The female lead has already won a Tony, and I wouldn't be surprised to see her up for another for this show. All in all a really great time!

I predict tony for scenic design, costumes , choreography , direction. The female lead is Karen Olivio she was in In The Heights and West Side Story. She won the Tony playing Anita in West Side Story. She also did Hamilton in Chicago.

I saw JHud's last performance . She was okay. Cynthia deserved her tony.

Yes, yes, yes, and yes!!! Loved the sets and especially the choreography. The woman playing Nini is absolutely fantastic!! Could have watched her dance for hours!

For fans of Cynthia Erivo in western CT and parts of ny—she is performing a concert at the Ridgefield (CT) Playhouse on September 16.

Ugh! Tickets for the tour for Come From Away are on sale. Trying to pull the trigger, but it will be around $260 for both my husband and myself, and this is not even for GOOD orchestra seats. I know this is the new norm in theater, but not sure I can do it.

I LOVED that show. Saw it in June. Probably my second favorite show of the past few years (after Hamilton).

We're seeing BOM tomorrow evening...me, my husband, and our son (19). Thinking about trying the TKTS booth for the Kinky Boots matinee. DH and I saw it in London with our daughter, and she and I saw it in NYC last fall. I know our son would like it, too.

You might want to think about trying the lottery for Kinky Boots. I don’t know how winnable it is-certainly easier than Hamilton, so it’s worth a shot. The problem with that is since there are three of you, someone would have to grab a ticket elsewhere and sit by him or herself during the show.

Another alternative that I just read about on another message board, so I haven’t verified the info, is to use the TKTS booth at Lincoln Center. Apparently there are quite a few advantages to this. Shorter lines; the wait, if any, is indoors in air conditioning; they post prices on their board;
and the big one for me- they supposedly sell matinee tickets a day ahead of time.

Thanks! We live near Philly, so we're just going up for the day, but I will keep the Lincoln Center day-ahead tickets in mind for future weekend trips. I'll look into the lottery, though. We could always switch off at intermission so nobody sits alone for the entire show.

Kinky Boots is the most winnable ticket lottery on Broadway IMO. I select the option where you can enter for every lottery that week (in case a free weeknight opens up and I can easily get to midtown), and I win at least once a week.

We caved and we are going. It is honestly my favorite show of the past 10 years. I have been wanting to go forever. My husband then got 2 tickets for a comedy show, so our dates nights are good for the next 6 months!

I saw Mean Girls the other night. It was good not great. The teens seemed to like it. My teen daughter liked it, she gave it an 8 out of 10. It falls behind Dear Evan Hansen & Boys in the Band for her. I'm not a huge fan of the movie either so that might have been part of the issue for me. We had the understudy for Regina which was disappointing I was hoping to see Taylor. Janis and Damien stole the show for me.

Well, I missed the window for tomorrow's tickets by half an hour. Oh well. I'll either try tomorrow at one of the booths or put it off for another visit.

I just started listening to the soundtrack a few days ago and I'm obsessed. I can finally listen to the whole thing without crying now. Well, not crying much, anyway.
