I love credit cards so much!

Are there any Newsies fans here? Because that also came to mind for me

Now is the time to seize the day...

Hey, this may actually get Mamma Mia out of my head for 5 minutes! It's been in there for a month!

I can't believe I haven't seen this movie yet. DH decided about a year ago that he just doesn't really like musicals (maybe he never did and it took him 19 years to tell me?) so he has resisted the Hamilton love shared by me and my kids and every time we consider watching Greatest Showman, he says "eh" and we pick something else. I'm sure my teen would LOVE Greatest Showman, but the one time we watched a movie together recently when DH was out I made her watch Newsies with me. Teenaged Christian Bale is no Hugh Jackman, but there is something about Newsies that is the perfect kind of cheesiness and it will always have a special place in my heart.
Have you seen the Newsies stage production? It's wonderful and on Netflix :-). The Greatest Showman is just that, the Greatest LOL. My dh likes some musicals and hates others. He really really liked that one though.

Yesterday I got a mailing address for DHs car payment. Now I have 3 bills I can put on the CIP, 2 being the cars through Plastiq.
Valuing the URs at 1.5cpp we still come out ahead over the Plastiq fees + AF. And if I can get gyft/swych to work for me, even better! I think one CIP will be a keeper card for us :)

On the fly vs drive debate - 7 hour drive or 1.5 hour drive to airport, 1.5 hr flight and then 1.5 hr drive with rental. And I think that 2nd 1.5 hr drive will likely be longer as it involves Chicago. DH is trying to convince me it makes sense to fly, I think no way. If it makes a difference, we will definitely be doing the 7 hr drive (14 hour round trip) 2 weeks earlier. Ughhh Not looking forward to this.

Hm, that does get tougher when the fly time and drive time are so close. At this point I'd look at the costs as the tie breaker. If flying with the rental is about the same as driving I might actually go the flight route (sorry). But usually it's not so we'd be driving that.

Hi, I'm not sure if anyone answered your questions already. So, to keep you points alive for the Citi TY Premier you can either call for a retention offer that would offset the annual fee or you could downgrade to the no-fee Preferred card. Unfortunately, if you downgrade then the points are only worth 1 cent when using toward travel instead of 1.25 cents. Another option is to transfer the points to one of Citi's travel partners, which would be a good option if you think you would get use out of them in this way.

As for your AMEX BGR, I recommend referring yourself to the Biz Green, which waives the AF for the first year. You would earn 10K MR points for the referral and then another 5K or 10K when you make ONE purchase on the Biz Green. This would allow you to keep your MRs safe for another year and earn another 15K-20K MRs! To refer yourself, just copy your BGR referral link and paste it into a new browser. It will bring up the application page for the BGR, but under the "Apply" button, click on "View other cards" and select the link for the Biz Green card. It says the bonus is 5K, but everyone has been getting an extra 5K on top of that, so it's possible to get 10K for that bonus. I believe you have until 8/8/18 for this to work. Good luck!!

I just got the AMEX Gold Business 7/5/18. Would I be able to refer myself and DH to this and get 2 Referrals (hopefully 10,000 each) and then 5,000 for first purchase. Or should I not even try as I just got the other card a month ago?

I was offered the $34 credit when I called about my SW Plus... It's been about a week and a half since I called. I did the SW Biz the same day and saw my credit right away, but the Plus hasn't posted... think it's too early to SM about it, since they tell you 6-8 weeks on the phone?

Hope I’m offered something when I call on mine in 2 weeks

I wonder if we can use UR to book DL tours through the Cruise & Tour Department. The Holiday Time at Disneyland tour looks neat, and it might be fun to book it for our December trip as an add-on experience, but I don't think I'd shell out cash for it. Has anyone tried this yet?

Looking to get insight on which direction to take. Right now, I’m 4/24 with 2 dropping off in the near future. We are always looking to add to our URs stash. But with 8/26 around the corner, I figure we needed to take another look to see if we can benefit before the changes take place. About a month ago, my initial thought was to refer DH to the CSP this or next month and then the Hilton Biz (trying to build on what we have) and I would go with Marriot Biz or Hyatt & possibly an Amex Biz buying time until 24 months expire on my CSP (will PC). Not sure if this helps with advice but we have Gold Elite status with Marriott (as it currently stands) and Explorist with Hyatt. Currently, there’s no interest in the SPG Lux. Unless, I’m missing something.
What are your thoughts!
Thanks

@Lain Thank you so much for those DPs! I feel a lot better now! I will try not to check that website for my status TOO much.

You should be able to do the referrals. I'd give it a try!

Sorry - I'm super :offtopic: today - can you tell I'm about to go on vacation? A pointless vacation (meaning, no hotel stays or flights - driving and visiting family) but still a vacation. And boy do I need it.
After seeing all the Greatest Showman love around here a few months ago, I made my DH and DS10 watch it with me. They were very "meh" about it, and I thought it was OK, but the more I hear the songs, the more I like it. I'm obsessed with Hamilton right now though, I love everything about i!

Hope you have a relaxing vacation!

Some thoughts.

1. You said you’re thinking of referring DH to the Hilton Biz. You’d get, I think a 20k HH referral bonus, but the referral offer is 100k HH/$3k/3 months. There’s another offer out there right now that DH could apply for directly and get the 100k HH/$3k/3 months terms, but also a $50 statement credit and first year $95 AF waived, which expires 8/19. https://www.doctorofcredit.com/hilt...-offer-50-statement-credit-annual-fee-waived/ You just have to decide which you value more, the 20k HH referral bonus or $145 in savings.

2. It doesn’t look like you have any Marriott or SPG cards. Do you have a stash of Marriott points you’d like to build on too? I think those of use really trying to fit in last minute cards before 8/26 have a mix of Marriott and SPG cards, so we’d be locked out of new cards in both brands after 8/26. With the new rules, it seems like Marriott wants you to stick with Chase’s cards or Amex’s cards.

That is a no brainer drive trip for me. But I definitely prefer driving to flying and am used to loooong road trips. 7 hours is about the perfect length for a good audio book!

I think pooh is like someone who has been drinking a little too much

That reminds me of when I used to teach residents and I'd give the diagnoses for all of the Hundred Acre Woods characters (Pooh was Borderline Intellectual Functioning and Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified although now Binge Eating Disorder is in the DSM V). Some of them were really offended but I had a 3 then 4 then 5 year old pooh:

And today I looked and they are there! I hadn't looked since Monday. For some reason it didn't occur to me it would wait till my statement closed. Like I said, first one ever! They messaged me June 22nd and this statement ran 7/2-8/1.

Thanks for asking this question...I referred both of my parents for Disney Chase and so I'm waiting on their referral bonuses...kind of exciting!

Nope, he's got a basic no rewards Capital One card and has complained many times to DH over the last few years about how they wouldn't increase the limit (because he's always had it close to maxed out and pays the minimum)

Ugh. Just ugh.

LOL, this is my alarm on my phone.

LOL, I had to look up the lyrics since I had no idea what y'all were discussing! I am so out of the musicals loop (but okay with that).

Another one bites the dust...I cancelled my wife's SPG biz. We didn't get the free night, I was salty about it...but even if we had gotten the free night I was cancelling, LOL! I have no use for 2 SPG biz cards and a Marriott personal card. They didn't offer a retention, but no big deal.

We are now down to 25 open cards currently. That's the lowest we've been since March 2016!
