A Churro Filled Christmas Vacation

I'm full of rest, relaxation and s'mores.

Of course you are. That's exactly what I meant.

Okay okay, where did I put my peacock hat and fox tail jacket.

In the back of the closet, obviously.

So I just got back from a whirlwind of finals, camping, and work being delayed so no I am poor, unemployed and watching Indiana Jones, you can expect me to post an update today.

Standing by. :)

We are in California, so lets have a Californian Adventure!

Okay, so lets get back at this. I am sorry for the delay. Finals and work and mini vacation all happened and I became very backed up. Oregon is amazing though! I will say that. Alright so last time we left off we had just taking the wildest ride in the Frontier. So now it was time we needed to go see what the west coast truly offers. So we made our way over to California Adventure! See See below how excited Ally is.

42855455732_d3effaeeae_b.jpg

So from the first time I stepped in Cars Land I was blown away. It is in my opinion the best themed land out there so I do take a bevy of pictures. (Did I use the word bevy correctly)

42855455352_8056f89389_b.jpg

We then made our way to the queue of a ride that the first time I heard about it and read about it I was not to impressed but then, then I rode it and I was blown away. WOOOOO Radiator Springs Racers. We are upgrading those trains for a more modern form of transportation.

42855454642_037f7948aa_b.jpg

Again, Cars Land is just so well done. The whole land makes me want to go and take a road trip down Old Route 66(what is left of it anyway). Maybe I can do that next summer. I love road trips though and I do not go on enough of them so hopefully that can happen. Returning to the trip report. We hadn't really ate anything other than Beneigts so we decided to check out the Cozy Cone Motel because I hear there mac and cheese is to die for!

42855453802_991692c758_b.jpg

Now I know it is hard to mess up mac and cheese and I love mac and cheese but I would say this is above average. I got the bacon because well duh. This was a feast and I could not finish the bread because I was stuffed.

42855452882_6e01cb27c6_b.jpg

That is Ally's no longer hungry face. I am actually going to make this a really quick update because I ended up with a new job today and so now I am behind in other tasks. Cheers, I hope you enjoy this.

Seems reasonable.

Oregon is amazing though

::yes::

See below how excited Ally is.

Ally appears to be excited. Although I have no proof that you did not coerce, cajole or threaten her to look that way.

(Did I use the word bevy correctly)

I am bemused by your bold use of bevy.

HDR photos?

::yes:: Such a fun ride. The side by side racing is awesome.

The whole land makes me want to go and take a road trip down Old Route 66(what is left of it anyway).

I only wish that parts weren't gravel. I'd like to bike it, but I'm not taking my bike on gravel.

We hadn't really ate anything other than Beneigts

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

we decided to check out the Cozy Cone Motel because I hear there mac and cheese is to die for!

Dang! Wish I'd known that.

I ended up with a new job today

Great!

After two mini-vacations in two weeks, I am all cleared up.

Ally appears to be excited. Although I have no proof that you did not coerce, cajole or threaten her to look that way.

I may have been holding more churros over her head.

I am bemused by your bold use of bevy.

It is a word that does not get enough love.

HDR photos?

Nah, just over edited unfortunately.

::yes:: Such a fun ride. The side by side racing is awesome.

I agreee, Universal Orlando used to have dueling dragons(and whatever they renamed it for HP) which I loved for the same reason.

I only wish that parts weren't gravel. I'd like to bike it, but I'm not taking my bike on gravel.

That's fair enough. I wouldn't want to do that either.

Dang! Wish I'd known that.

Time to go back!

It was not so great, moving furniture is a tough job especially because of how little it pays. I did get a job up north though about a day later. So that was fantastic.

Coercion it is.

Ah.

Have that at cedar point too. Fun!

Now Where Did We Leave Off!

I am sorry to my faithful reader(s) that I have not had an update recently. I started a job up in the Oil Sands and it is long days and I work 7 days of the week. Currently on day 20/21, so that is awesome because I should be able to get some updates in.

Oh wait I have really gotten into Disney podcasts lately and I really want to book my next drip. WDW, hopefully. So that is that.

I did miss this ride photo from Cars though!

43049695824_290a0ea736_b.jpg

Okay now, we were making our way out of Cars Land, I don't know if this is a recent thing that begun doing but I did not notice these movie poster parodies when I was there last time but I love them! A lot.

42855452142_f94644391d_b.jpg

I get really excited about movies and Christmas and Cars evidently. One thing about me is that I love Christmas, a lot. While I am not a huge Cars fan, I really enjoy them. The holiday rendition of the Cars Land billboard is pretty great too, I love the small details. I wonder how the Imagineers keep their holiday spirit all the time when designing this stuff.

42855451452_88278ba395_b.jpg

From Cars Land we begin to make our way over to the next experience of the day but first, I think this next picture excentuates my beard while provding direction for the next attraction.

42855450882_a50311dcb1_b.jpg

Okay no that this is out of the way, we head to what would be the last time we queue up for California Screamin' without even knowing it.(they hadn't announced the Incredicoaster yet) The last time we went I had never ridden this before as it was my first time at DCA but Ally had and this is one of her favorite rides. I find the queue nostalgic with out having any attachment to it. I don't know if that makes any sense though.

43049696934_bc44d95bd1_b.jpg

So Ally obviously knew the camera was there and decided she needed to blow kisses to who know's who. I just look a little crazy or too happy, or maybe both. Don't tell me what I look more like. This ride is so great and I cannot wait to one day ride the Incredicoaster.

Next up is more food because you know, it's 11:30ish at this point and we haven't ate nearly enough. We made our way through the live signing performance....sheesh get out of my way, I need ice cream was the only thing going through my mind. We made it to Ghirardelli's and I feasted on something. I can't quite remember what. I lost that note but here is a picture of outside!

42855449522_7c33a0453d_b.jpg

Okay, so I am going to leave this chapter at that as I am exhausted but I wanted to get this out there so I wouldn't lose all momentum!

No need to apologize. I've been there. And recently too. Longest stretch I've done is From May 1st to October... 4th-ish. (3rd? 5th?) back in 1997.

I really want to book my next drip. WDW, hopefully.

Get in line, buddy. ;)

Is that you in the driver's seat?

I did not notice these movie poster parodies when I was there last time but I love them! A lot.

I like those!

I get really excited about movies and Christmas and Cars evidently.

Really? It doesn't show.

:rolleyes2

Nice! I like that. The more you look, the more you see.

Hmmm.... Small World! No... Dumbo! Yeah... or maybe Peter Pan.

I find the queue nostalgic with out having any attachment to it. I don't know if that makes any sense though.

I get that. I do.

Duck face? She did duck face!?!?!?

she needed to blow kisses to who know's who.

All your readers, obviously. ::yes::

I just look a little crazy or too happy, or maybe both.

Thanks for taking the time! :)

It is definitely a grind, we are getting our first real taste of snow right now.

Is that you in the driver's seat?

I wish! I would like to get that seat.

Nice! I like that. The more you look, the more you see.

Exactly, it is just so well done.

Hmmm.... Small World! No... Dumbo! Yeah... or maybe Peter Pan.

Close, if by close you mean not even in the same park.

Duck face? She did duck face!?!?!?

This was not my idea.

All your readers, obviously. ::yes::

Most likely.

Let's get back into this.

Okay, I apologize for the time away. Again. I often find myself thinking about writing during the day but by the time my 10 hour shift I have all motivation sucked dry. I actually just got back to work the other day. Ally had a brain procedure on my days off due to an anomaly found during a CT scan a few months back. It was a scary ordeal which had me distracted but when they cut her open and got inside, it turns out it is something different than they thought and she is A-OK! So that was a big weight off our shoulders so we turned around and got a puppy. A 10 week old English Shepherd, named Honey.

Okay back to the story. We just stuffed ourselves with ice cream and now that the rumble in our tummy's was extinguished we made our way to my favorite Gold and Timber Co. This was going to beginning of our first mistake of the day.

42185402874_77c00b2ac6_b.jpg

Last time we were here we rode Grizzly River Rapids several times. I wanted this trip to be more of the same because I love this ride. There was almost no wait so we hopped on. We were with a really nice family who was wearing plastic bags...I mean poncho's. Wimps. I am on this ride to feel the wrath of the rapids.

We climb and we climb and anticipation builds. I feel the excitement all to familiar when on Disney rides.

WHOOSH!

Okay, this was a mistake. I am drenched and I instantly feel the autumn air begin to freeze my body.

Give me your plastic bag's people. I need to 3 of them, have you seen the size of me.

They give me blank stares as we approach the next drop. I now feel dread. I can only describe what happen next as a tidal wave of destruction sent by Yen Sid to show me that I should not laugh at people in ponchos.

The rest of the ride is smooth but I can feel the water in my shoes. We disembark from the raft that I am sure is sinking due to all of the water taken in. We decide to stand in the one patch of sun near the ride and try to dry off as we both look like we climbed out of the pool. I did get this good shot.

42185401184_5e4edf3c1a_b.jpg

Once we have dried off a bit we begin to make our way through Grizzly Peak. Every breeze makes me cold all over again. Then I see it, the sweater I need.

42903548841_004f01bfda_b.jpg

Unfortunately, it is a one of a kind XXXXXXXXXXXL and will not fit me so we move on. I am sad and cold now. We then reach the end of Grizzly Peak and now you receive yet another sign picture!

42855446352_0eb915b3d0_b.jpg

As we leave this land, I leave you with this chapter. Hopefully it wasn't too text heavy!

I enjoyed GRR way more when I was a young adult, and not so worried about me or my kids being freezing and wet all day! We totally bring ponchos And flip-flops, and even then I am always nervous! I love your pictures!

I totally get the ponchos now, I probably wouldn’t wear one on a summer trip but a late fall, or winter one it is a must have especially for those windy nights.

Thank you so much! That made my day.

I often find myself thinking about writing during the day but by the time my 10 hour shift I have all motivation sucked dry.

Yeah, that'd do it alright.

Ally had a brain procedure on my days off due to an anomaly found during a CT scan a few months back. It was a scary ordeal which had me distracted but when they cut her open and got inside, it turns out it is something different than they thought and she is A-OK!

That's great news! Glad to hear she's okay! :goodvibes

So that was a big weight off our shoulders so we turned around and got a puppy. A 10 week old English Shepherd, named Honey.

Well.... that's a pretty darn good way to celebrate!

This was going to beginning of our first mistake of the day.

Uh, oh...

Last time we were here we rode Grizzly River Rapids several times.

Which is several times more than I have.

Wimps. I am on this ride to feel the wrath of the rapids.

Dun dun dunnnnnnnn,...

Okay, this was a mistake. I am drenched and I instantly feel the autumn air begin to freeze my body.

You should maybe wear a poncho.

:duck:

I can only describe what happen next as a tidal wave of destruction sent by Yen Sid to show me that I should not laugh at people in ponchos.

I did get this good shot.

Nice shot!

But I'd rather see the two drowned rats!

Unfortunately, it is a one of a kind XXXXXXXXXXXL and will not fit me so we move on.

Not big enough?

:rolleyes1

Yeah, that'd do it alright.

I'm getting better, more used to it now. Except I change jobs in 2 weeks and it will then be 12 hour shifts.

That's great news! Glad to hear she's okay! :goodvibes

It was awesome to hear. She is doing so much better now.

Well.... that's a pretty darn good way to celebrate!

It's been a long time coming.

Which is several times more than I have.

Not a fan of water rides? or getting drenched.

You should maybe wear a poncho.

:duck:

I should have, I am a tall man, not a smart man.

But I'd rather see the two drowned rats!

I actually tried to find a picture of us but I don't think she was into me taking a picture of her with mascara/eye liner running on her face.

Not big enough?

Just a little to big actually.

I'm getting better, more used to it now. Except I change jobs in 2 weeks and it will then be 12 hour shifts.

I've worked those. They can be.... long.
Hopefully you won't have too many in a row?

It was awesome to hear. She is doing so much better now.

So happy for you both. :)

It's been a long time coming.

31317256778_caf9058ad6_k.jpg

Awwwww. What a cute pup!

Not a fan of water rides? or getting drenched.

The latter. I actually like water rides... but not when I have lots of park to run around and see still... or it's cold out.

I should have, I am a tall man, not a smart man.

I actually tried to find a picture of us but I don't think she was into me taking a picture of her with mascara/eye liner running on her face.

I get that.
"You will NOT post that photo!!!"

I've worked those. They can be.... long.
Hopefully you won't have too many in a row?

I'm doing 14/7 shift right now. It's not bad but explains my lack of activity and the fact my laptop charger decided it wanted to retire on my second day there. I also was accepted for my transfer at SFU so I start there in January. I should hopefully complete my degree in 5 semesters more. Just going to power through it and get it done as fast as I can.

The latter. I actually like water rides... but not when I have lots of park to run around and see still... or it's cold out.

They have a dryer outside GRR now!

I get that.
"You will NOT post that photo!!!"

I can replay that sentence in my voice perfectly.

the fact my laptop charger decided it wanted to retire on my second day there.

Well.... that bites.

I also was accepted for my transfer at SFU so I start there in January.

Nice! Good for you!

I should hopefully complete my degree in 5 semesters more. Just going to power through it and get it done as fast as I can.

Tough slogging though, I would think?

They have a dryer outside GRR now!

I'd heard that. Not sure how effective they are?

I can replay that sentence in my voice perfectly.
