Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

I was pretty adamant about getting a balcony the last time...but didn't. That being said, we found the big slider door on the 2nd floor rooms was even nicer- cleaner and more comfy to pull a chair up or just lean out.
That is a really neat way to look at the 2nd floor. Don't think I will ever stay in the resort side of the Poly, only the DVC side, but this is really a different way to look at getting the 2nd floor.

Hi! We are just about 45 days out.

Has anyone stayed recently who can tell me whether mickey straws are sold at Captain Cooks?

We stayed in Rarotonga a couple of weeks ago with a standard view, monorail side with a lush garden/rain garden view, RM 1823. It honestly was perfect. No castle direct view, but you are just a few steps from the Great Ceremonial House and the pool, laundry is in the next building, right by the Oasis pool, bus stop is right out front, and on the closer side of the TTC. Our room was SUPER quiet with the patio door shut, and when open you can hear the tranquil music from the entrance. The kids liked the castle and fireworks from the beach/Lava pool anyway. ;)
Good to know! You were able to see the monorail? Was it loud at night? How far were you from the main pool?

Thanks for the room location review! I really appreciate it and I’m taking notes.

Last month was our first (and last) stay at AKL. We did not like our room location. Even with a touring plans room request, we had a room too far for our liking. I asked the front desk to NOT place us in “Georgia” she replied “no, your room is only in Tallahassee!” No joke! We’d leave in the mornings, and not return until evening. It was just too far.

My family is looking forward to a smaller resort next summer. We really like to be near the QS for morning coffee and mickey waffles.

I’m hoping for ground floor in Samoa, Rarotonga or Aotearoa.
Im curious, why ground floor? We are staying standard and taking notes like you so trying to figure out our best options.

The resort layout.

Due to the Savanna’s, there are no shortcuts around the resort. We got stuck with a savanna view room so far away from everything. After walking 15 miles a day in the parks, I don’t want to walk 3 miles around my resort (per my iwatch).

It just wasn’t for us.
I guess we got lucky requesting our room area. We were two rooms from the lobby and requested partial savannah standard room and had giraffes and ostriches under our room. I absolutely LOVE the details in this resort and feel no other resort compares in architecture (maybe GF). But the resort is just too secluded for my liking. I'd definitely go there again but don't feel like we are submerged in Disney being there.

Got our MagicBands in the mail yesterday! About 19 days until we leave! So so excited to be staying here for the first time!

Also we booked this resort with DVC Points so we will have free parking, does anyone know the limit for how many cars you can park for free? My sister lives in FL and will more than likely be parking her car when she stays with us for the week (we are driving so there would be two cars at the resort).

I car per adult on the reservation.

Any chance the Coffee at Kona Island can be had with the refillable mugs? I'm guessing not, lol

Hello. Heading to poly in less than a month. It will be me, DH, 6 year old and 2 year old daughters. First time staying there. Any suggestions on what to do at resort with the girls? We have Ohana breakfast and dinner booked during the stay...

49 days! Really getting excited. Paid off our trip in full. Picked our Magic Bands and did Online check in. Have room request fax ready on TP. And booked our pre-Disney condo in St Augustine yesterday. I’m ready for vacation!!

Have a great trip :wizard:.

The Poly is amazing, you will love it! Have a great trip :goodvibes.

11 days! This will be our 2nd time staying at the Poly but our first as DVC.

Have a great time :yay:.

Congrats on your first upcoming trip to the Poly. Two of my favorite things to do while at the Poly are leisurely walking around the resort taking in the beautiful tropical atmosphere and watching the fireworks from the beach (or the pool while swimming). Have a great time :wizard:.

Does anyone have a copy of the October activities calendar? Checking in two weeks from today. Thanks

In Disney, I prefer ground floor.

We walk a lot in the parks, the last thing I want to see is a flight of stairs when returning to our room.

Also, should we get lucky again and get a room in Samoa, I was able to exit our room from the patio slider for a quick morning coffee run to Capt Cooks.
