Official Disney Cake Chatter - Part V!

[GALLERY=][/GALLERY]Ordered a cake from Pat at the GF to have delivered to the Grand 1 yacht a couple of weeks ago to celebrate my wedding. Had 15 people and this cake was more than enough, had about half left! We did a chocolate cake with cookies and cream filling and it was delicious. All I had told Pat was one tier with white fondant and peach and white flowers and top, with a banner reading Happily Ever After in gold. Also told her to add a small subtle Donald Duck photo on the back of the cake (he is my favorite!) and think the way she did was great. Cost about $150!
Sorry can’t figure out how to add photos!! Please let me know and I will post them if the cake

What flavors did you end up with? And is that a 6"?

So sorry, missed the question! It is a 6" cake and we got chocolate cake with cookies and cream. I was worried it would be too much but with the fondant and the buttercream attaching the fondant it was perfect!

Sounds great! Now I wish they had offered me cookies and cream filling for mine!

I've been coordinating an early December trip for a group of five of us and since we're opting for Whispering Canyon Cafe for our arrival night dinner, I'm using that as a reason (excuse, really :lmao:) to order us a "Welcome to Disney" cake.

In the past, I've just given a general theme (the most recent one was a Belle-themed cake) and asked the decorators to do their thing on the cake itself. They've always turned out gorgeous, but I'm a little worried that "welcome to Disney" isn't really a helpful guideline for the decorators. Because there's five of us (including a Disney newbie!) I don't want to do anything too specific, like favorite characters, rides, etc.

Does anyone have fun ideas for a general, "yay we're all in Disney together" cake decoration?
I would say you would need Mickey on it at least - maybe Minnie too. After all, it all started with a Mouse. :)

Starting my cake adventure today - Hoping to get a Chip and Dale themed cake for the boyfriend for Garden Grill (his favorite Disney restaurant, largely due to the chipmunk meet and greet). No special occasion beyond him being awesome.

Call is in to Epcot Food and Beverage and message left - we'll see how it goes!

@eeyoreandtink The Zebra Dome cake looks like this:

Awe that is a cute idea! I love the Christmas ornaments with the two of them under the mickey hat, that would be a fun cake topper!

They are pretty adorable - shooting for something more autumnal - round cake shaped like a tree stump; hoping we can get peanut butter filling, it just seems appropriate when celebrating chipmunks!

I got an email from Megan this afternoon and sent over (probably far more then she had hoped for) information on my idea.

So - one note from my conversations with Megan with Epcot Food & Beverage) (who has been exceedingly responsive and helpful is that any signatures on the cakes have to be approved by legal, and that requires a 21-day lead time. I've seen plenty of advice that says to start at around 3 weeks out so, caveat emptor, there. The signatures may end up on a card in my case, depending on how quickly legal gets back to Megan.

That said, the PB filling is doable, and I'm really excessively pleased by that. :)

I left a voice mail at the Contemporary requesting a cake with a B’rer Rabbit theme: cake like a log with briars, green leaves and bees. I was thinking about having his red hobo bag represented in the middle, but after I left the message I started to wonder if that was lame. Does anyone have any other ideas about what would be possible and cute for this theme?

My sister is going to propose to her girlfriend while we are there and I would really like to have a cake sent to the room (Polynesian). I've been reading past posts and see that Pat at the Grand Floridian can be hit or miss to work with. My husband and I got married at Disney 3 years ago, and 2 years ago I contacted Pat to get a replica of our cake made and it turned out amazing.

I would really like the cake for my sister to have a rainbow mickey theme to it, but in a classy way. How would I try to order this? Would it need to be a fondant fancy cake then? Would I possibly have better luck trying to contact my wedding planner from 3 years ago (she was amazing!!! and I am friends with her on social media) or should I stick with calling the Grand?

I like it! Splash is my favorite ride. Just and fyi, the bag-on-a-stick he carries is called a "bindle". Totally go for it!

We’ve always had great luck with Pat! And bonus since it’s going to the poly, it will be pre-pay, so no chance of your sister getting or seeing the bill!!

This cake sounds AWESOME! I can't wait to see it!

Good afternoon all! I'm still designing my Moana/Tomatoa cake for Sanaa. It's coming close though!! Cake will be for the 20th :D

It really really pays to talk to someone working on the cakes. Alicia had been helping me and quoted me $96 for treasures, print of Moana/Maui and happy birthday. She said she wouldn't be able to do the waves for that price but instead could airbrush fondant on the cake to look Tomatoa. Since this is for a 5 year old, I wanted it to be kind of obviously the crab. (I personally LOVE the look of airbrushing!!!!) I asked if we bumped up the price could we get some tomatoa features on the cake. eyes, mouth antanae OR what would it cost to cover the original blue buttercream waves.

I received an almost immediate response back - essentially saying "oh! I misinterpreted your original request - I thought you wanted fondant sculpted waves!!!! We can do everything in your original request for $96.00!

Now we gotta just nail down flavors... feeling better and better about this cake!!

Also, Also, definitely do a bit of research on what different types of decorations cost for cakes. I found it very odd that airbrushed fondant would be cheaper than buttercream - which is why I mentioned it again when I was asking about the price.

I need a gluten free cake for my son's 8th birthday. Should I order from Erin Mckenna or one of Disney's own bakeries? I've never had either, so I have no idea which one is better. We're cake snobs lol and love delicious, moist cakes which is hard to accomplish with gluten free flour.
