Jersey Week November 2019 Crowd Levels

I am sorry I wasn't clear...we are interested in the 2019 dates.

I have been there twice during Jersey Week.
The crowds were worse than the 2 weeks before. We now plan to go before Jersey week. The crowds were not horrible, but definitely busier.

I have noticed crowds seem lighter the last week of October but like another poster said lots of parties that week.

Ah, I didn't read it correctly. I don't know but I would expect the ever rising costs of going to Disney will eventually have an effect on crowds. I did find that there were no real discounts offered (at least to US residents) this week in particular because I'm sure Jersey week and the Marathon had some impact on that. Eventually I did come across discounts on room only, but better discounts were all around this week. This is just speculating, though.
I know the impact from the cost has hit us because we have cut back, both on frequency of the trips and length of stay. We are staying both on and off site (truly don't see the benefit any more, other than transportation, which will be impacted by the marathon). They still have some morning EMH, but no evening. The extra hours you now pay for, "smaller crowds" you pay for, parking you pay for, buses are unpredictable and crowded. But, we love Disney and will still go, albeit not as often, or for as long.

I agree about the Christmas parties. Next year Jersey week will be week of 11/4. Early enough that you won't run into too many Christmas parties. You may have one or two. There are some years where Jersey Week starts on the 7th or so and there are more Christmas parties that week. It happened in 2016. There were 4 that week.

We usually go the end of August. This year we decided on Jersey Week since it fell early enough that we assumed there would be 2 parties and we were right. Had I chosen August we would've been stuck with Halloween parties during our week. I'm glad we went with Jersey Week!
Do you mean what used to be called years ago "Teachers Convention"? I seriously would love to know how many teachers and administrators still go to Atlantic City for convention?:confused:

We were relegated to the week before Halloween for a few year due to my DDs post secondary school schedule.

Last year we went back to November which is our preferred travel time.

Jersey week was quite busy, marathon, Veterans Day holiday, end of food and wine etc.

But October is crazy crowded IMO.

November wins for us hands down.

It was always the teachers convention until I got on the Dis and it was referred to as "Jersey Week." lol

I don't really talk to any teachers on a personal level so I have no idea how many actually go. Probably not many.

Our district also gets off for Election Day which is the same week and the Monday and Wednesday are half days. Perfect week to get away but I don't know many families that actually do go away!

If Jersey week, race weekend, and Star Wars Land opening (fingers crossed) all coincide, it’s going to be extremely crowded. It seems to be “extremely crowded” every time I visit though, so I wouldn’t let crowd levels affect my plans at this point. I am from New Jersey and I will be there that week for a Disney Cruise and World combo trip.

I feel silly asking, but what are the actual dates of Jersey week? Is it the first week of November? We are going down for Veterans weekend from the 9-12, assumed it would be busy due to the holiday and end of food and wine, hoping that it doesn’t also overlap with Jersey week...

Jersey Week is the first full week of November. This year it starts 11/5. We will be there that week. We leave 11/11.

It's a mistake to put too much weight into these artificial crowd levels. There is ALWAYS something going on. Putting aside the obvious crazy times like Christmas and prime spring break season, just go when it works. I've been Jersey week every year for the last 5 years pretty much and it's fine. The crowd difference (especially if you plan using basic info you'll find all over here) is minor.

I would think that it usually starts on the Saturday prior to the school week. https://**************.net/ According to some sites... We usually head out right after school on the Friday prior. And The Xmas parties are usually the Thursday & Friday during the end of Jersey week... Also in 2010 we arrived on the Friday b4 as well, and it was before Halloween..as awesome..That'll happen again in 2020.

It's still called Teacher Conv. for those 2 days, but people from everywhere other than NJ, know that most families from up North head down there, and so became the name. It does still have a pretty big following...Otherwise, it would keep operating as it does now...Both my sisters are teachers, but don't generally head to this.

True..LoL

Not sure on this, but I'd have to say enough to keep it going for the next year or 2.:confused3

LoL, You'd be surprised...Haha Our district has 1/2 day on Election day (Full Day if it's a presidential election) & 2 days off for Thur. & Fri.

Jersey Week Is always the week consisting of Election day....So moving forward, it would start the Saturday prior to Election day...Unfortunately that is usually the marathon weekend now. Your week should be perfect...Albeit the last weefor F&W, just visit on an off day.

See ya down there:banana::wave:

I'm pulling DD out of school Friday 11/2 and flying out at 6 am. We are very excited!

We're not in NJ, but we have no school Tuesday for Election day, and M, W, Th are early dismissals for conferences. I'm pulling my kids at lunchtime on Friday 11/2, and we're heading down through Wednesday. We'll all be exhausted on Thursday after getting back late Wed, but the kids only have to make it though a half day before they can come home and sleep, and I do need to be back to attend their conferences. They'll miss an afternoon and two mornings in exchange for almost 5 full days at Disney, which seems like a pretty decent trade-off.

We are also closed for Election Day and Monday and Wednesday are half days. So technically 3 days she is missing but they do nothing the two half days. We are doing 10 days by going 11/2-11/11.

25 more days!

We’ve done Jersey Week many times and always have a blast! I will say that it has become a lot more crowded in recent years, but still manageable. Crowds are on the lighter side through Wednesday, then become much heavier as the week progresses. Expect that second weekend to be super busy! As long as you plan well and set realistic expectations, you’ll have a fabulous trip! And, as others have said, the weather is typically perfect!

This is why we decided to go the Friday before. Get an extra day of "lower" crowds before the end of the week. I don't think they'll be much lower since it's marathon weekend. But it's still an extra day at Disney!

Good strategy! We typically fly down the Friday before as well. Usually arrive late, but hit the ground running on Saturday. I also plan a lot more touring on the front end, so we’ve already done every park once by Thursday and can be more relaxed once crowds build. Have fun!!!

I have been during Jersey week and are going again this year and I didn't think the crowds were bad at all. My son's birthday happens to coincide with Jersey week, so we go. As long as you have a plan, it is definitely doable .
Glad to hear this! We will be there the week of November 5th as it's my teen daughter's birthday as well.
