PTR - Relaxing Trip ? - Nov 9 - 17

So we are 45 days until we leave for our Universal vacation. I decided it is never too early to start packing...LOL So this weekend, I started to pulling out things that had been packed away since our last trip or had been bought over the last few months and put away. You know, all of the necessities: fanny pack, backpack, cooling towels, lanyards, pouches, pop-up hamper, wand holsters, clips for the towels on the pool loungers, power banks, etc. Unfortunately, I discovered that the power banks we used on our honeymoon and have been stuck in a drawer since then no longer work. I guess that is what I get for buying cheap ones to begin with. So now a new power bank has been ordered. This one is more expensive but I am hoping higher quality than the others. The rest of the stuff is still great. Just need to purchase the few toiletries that will be needed.

I called the hotel and noted that we are celebrating my husband birthday while we are there. We are actually also going to be celebrating me being 4 year cancer free while we are there but I always feel weird telling them about something I'm celebrating. Do others feel that way too? I also decided to order my DH a little something extra to be delivered to the room. I just need to order it now.

I am really beginning to get excited!

Yes- I'm with you. I have no problem celebrating others' special day, but to mention mine I feel weird, too! But in this case, Jeanelle- celebrating being cancer-free- you go for it and add it on!!! :thumbsup2

I agree-It's never too early to pack! I actually repack some things into our suitcases when we return from a trip! Then, I won't forget!

We will be at Universal exactly 1 month from today! Even my husband is beginning to think about packing. He actually wants to be pretty much packed the weekend before we leave so we can just load the car on Thursday night and worry about the last minute items and hit the road bright and early on Friday. He wants to be try to get through Nashville before rush hour. We will see if we succeed. LOL

Oh it has come around quickly......only 4 weeks to go!!! It`s such an exciting time...….

I`m sure you`ll do great with the packing......and fingers crossed everything goes to plan!!

Less than a month now for you jeanelle!

I am so excited! It has finally turned to fall weather here in Southern Indiana so I have been able to pull out some of my shorts and shirts for the trip. My guest bed is is now mounded with items to be packed! I even started organizing it a bit this weekend.

A couple of weeks ago, I did go up to Michigan to see my family and especially my granddaughter. Here she is with her first pumpkin. She is sideways as I can't figure out how to turn the picture...LOLCharlie Pumpkin.jpg

Thank you! I think she is the most beautiful baby in the world but I'm very impartial. :)

Packing and organizing is proceeding slowly but surely. Next weekend will be the big push. I've almost finished purchasing all the little items that you need to take with you such as sunscreen, wet wipes, etc. The stuff that I just don't keep around the house normally. I pulled out the floppy sun hat and baseball caps the other day and threw them on the ever growing pile of stuff. Since we are driving and not worried about the weight of the suitcases, I always overpack. You never know what the weather is going to be in Florida in November.

Of course, things just can't go smoothly before a vacation. This week, I discovered I needed to replace a tire on my car. Not sure how it happened but the sidewall had a slice in it. Then the major project I'm working at for work was delayed 2 weeks. So instead of launching before I go on vacation with time for hypercare, it is going to launch while I'm on vacation. I had to tell my boss that there really was no way for me to handle the launch as I would be in the middle of a theme park most of the day so he will need to take care of it. He knows that I made of a point of planning my vacation around all my projects so there wouldn't be an issue with leaving and I wouldn't need to worry about them while I'm away. Not my fault that the client suddenly has decided to delay. Oh well, they (and I will survive).

Same here Jeanelle! Things always blow up at work a few days before vacation! No matter how caught up or organized I am, there's always a last minute emergency!
But once you get into your car, take a deep breath and go into vacation mode!!:cool1: You'll handle work when you return and you'll be renewed and refreshed!:thumbsup2

She is adorable!! What a real little cutie........

I’ve missed your updates!

You don’t need any added stress before a trip.........so hope it goes smoothly from now on.........you’ll soon be there........:)

EEK! We leave 1 week from today! I am so stressed out right now. I have so much to still do. Does anyone else feel the intense need to deep clean their house before they go? On top of the "oh my goodness I need to pack and organize and clean" stress, I also have so much stress from work. As I said earlier, a big project I have been working on that was supposed to go live on 10/29 is now probably going to go live on 11/12, right during my vacation. I'm going to have to just let go of my baby and let someone else manage the go live. On top of that, we were informed that we have a new client and discovery is happening next week with development hopefully starting the week of the 12th. This means that I won't be there for the project kick-off and will have to have someone else do it. Luckily I'm co-managing this project as it is very large so my counterpart will just have to step in for that. I've done all the preliminary work so far so it is only fair!

On the bright side, I have a lot of the packing done. We are going shopping this weekend to pick up the wine, snacks, and drinks we want to take with us. You need to have something to snack on during an 8 hour car ride and something to unwind with at the hotel after the drive. :drinking1 I'll finish up my clothes packing this weekend and will only have the last minute stuff to throw in Friday morning.

I just need to get through next week and hopefully by the time we hit the Kentucky border (which is only minutes away), I will have let the stress and work go.

You will be fine

Anything you forget to pack just buy it in Orlando

That is the nice thing about having a car with you on vacation

Yeah. I know it isn't like we are going to a third world country. There is always a CVS or Walgreens around. I have even ventured out to those gift shops out on 192 to purchase a sweatshirt because it was cold and I didn't want to pay $50 for a sweatshirt I would rarely every wear again. (This was when I lived in South Florida.)

Only a week!!!

It always seems to fly past when others are waiting to go on trips!

Hope this week goes past in a flash........you’ll be there before you know it.......:thumbsup2

Same here! I just can't stand the idea of leaving a dirty house! We have pet sitters coming when we're away and certainly want to have the house looking clean! ::yes::

Yep- nice to have snacks and drinks all purchased and packed! :thumbsup2

Yay!! One more week- Hard Rock hotel here you come!:cool1:

Are you doing 24 until Chattanooga and then 75 through all of Georgia?

Yes, that does appear to be the route we are taking. :) At least that is what Google Maps suggests. We just got a new SUV with navigation. This will be its first real test. :)

4 days until we leave. We finished almost all the packing this weekend (except for the last minute things). Oh course, my DH puts off everything. I pulled out his shorts months ago for him to go through and see what fits and what doesn't. He never wears shorts except for when we are on vacation. Well he did it yesterday as he was packing and oops, none of them fit. Luckily Amazon has 2 day free shipping so new shorts were ordered.

I bought all the drinks and snacks and have them put in the cooler and in a bag ready to go. My house is also clean. I just need to get through the next 4 days of work and off we go! I'm trying to not stress about work. All I can do is leave detailed instructions and then let it go. I am sure they will survive without me. :)

I'm getting so excited!
