Suitcase at Jiko?

Hi! We are going to Jiko on arrival night and the more I look at the times I think we need to take an Uber straight from the airport to the restaurant. We’re staying at the Poly and won’t have time to take the luggage to the hotel first. Can we bring a suitcase to the restaurant or will the AKL be able to check it? It will only be 1 suitcase, no carry on bags. Thanks for your help!

Bell Services will hold it; gratuity appropriate.

But if your on time arrival doesn't allow enough time to make your reservation using Disney services, you might want to be prepared to pay the no show fee if there's any glitch in your transport. Typical advice on the Transportation forum is to allow three to five hours from landing.

You are banking on having no flight delays. Very unrealistic. Sounds like even a 15 minutes delay would throw off your plans. Sounds stressful to me. Of course, ymmv

Bell services should be able to hold your bag. There is really no room at the restaurant for your suitcase to sit tableside

I can’t answer the suitcase question, however, we have the same plan for our next trip. We are going to Uber or Lyft to AKL. I’ve been watching reservation availability and Jiko seems to often have same day tables. I’m going to make our reservation that night, from the airport. My backup plan is to eat at the lounge.

I’m more stressed about the possibility of eating bad food than I am about the timing of a plan to eat at Jiko.

Have you checked OpenTable? We usually use it to book Jiko, especially on arrival night, because of the easy cancellation.

Thank you for mentioning open table. I knew some of the Disney Springs restaurants could be reserved there, but did not know that some other restaurants on property were available.

Open Table is great, only drawback with Jiko is that they only do late-night reservations via Open Table, starting at 9pm. But if that works with your schedule, would be a good choice over booking in MDE.

When these things are added together, I would be totally stressed out:
-An ADR all the way across property from your resort
-on arrival day
-where the timing is already so tight that you are considering an Uber
-and dealing with luggage

A Disney plan that looks good on paper often does not work IRL. I'd opt for a restaurant at the Poly where there are several good choices: 'Ohana, Kona, Kona Island sushi bar, or apps and bevs at the outdoor Tiki Terrace. You could be really indulgent and stay in and order the 'Ohana Twilight Feast from room service.

If Jiko is a must do, I'd opt to eat at the bar area without an ADR. I've done this several times and enjoy it very much. I've been offered the full menu, but I like the choices on the bar menu. If a reserved table suits you better, check the MyDisneyExperience app and make an ADR when you get off the plane. As a reference point, there are several Jiko ADR times open for tonight.
