AP Pricing Concerns

Again, note these were AP with some blackout dates already. Not an AP with no blackout dates at all, suddenly given some. The language is not in place on the Platinum passes for Disney to suddenly add blackout dates. Those that have them do have notes that they can change

This is likely the only year I would worry about it, because of SWGE. If they're going to change it, this is when they'd do it, not after it opens.

You think they would add blackout dates for their trip this Thanksgiving? That seems pretty soon.

Again, I was just voicing my thoughts on the anxiety about platinums having blackout dates added. I don't really think it will happen.

No, I don't think it would be likely for this year. Not even sure they'd get the changes out by then. I wish I could remember when they have been doing the AP price changes. For some reason, I thought it was spring, not fall but truthfully can't recall.

I think it was around February, but I could be way off.

I’m just annoyed this is all going into effect a week before I need to upgrade a Park Savers ticket to a DVC Gold AP.

I would think that whatever the price increase and blackout dates that are coming...would come a year or more before the opening of SWGE.
By doing that they can control all the new AP's and renewals that come after that date.
So for example,if the opening date is November 1st then the changes will be soon....maybe the same time as ticket price increase.
Is that what they did for Disneyland?

They have done them in the spring and in the fall. They have done them with other tickets, and APs separately. They have done them with notice and without (only once that I can recall, but the Internet buzzed like a bee hive when they did). Just when you think you might be able to pin them down, they change it up. My APs used to expire in August, and due to different promotions that extended them, it's moved to December, and I can recall several times that I either renewed just before, or just after, a price change took effect.

The changes in blockout dates at DLR separate from when AP and tickets increased. They changed in June with the release of the 2019 calendar. Their Star Wars is expected to open around 6/21/2019. I expect blockout calendars to change when November and December 2019 WDW blockout calendars release, particularly HS.

In general, I would expect that WDW would do with SWGE like they do with summer re: blockout dates: err on the side of blocking out quite a bit, and if attendance patterns look lower than originally expected, drop some blockout dates fairly last-minute. They've done this with Silver APs (which are blocked out through the peak summer dates) the last few years.

So I am needing help deciding what to do: buy our APs now or wait? Are the prices for sure going up in a couple weeks or is this speculation? We will be traveling from July 18th-30th. My husband is leaving this up to me and I can’t decide. If the prices are going up then it’s a no brainer, buy the APs now.

We purchased APs on Friday and had the same questions but then thought to myself, when was the last time Disney released
information that they were going to lower ticket prices instead of a price increase?

I can say with 100% certainty that AP's will be more expensive in July than they are now. It's up to you when you decide to purchase them.

All those who know for certain what prices are going to do are not allowed to talk.
However, the post I linked from the other thread above does indicate that at this time, there are no changes to AP
This has no bearing on IF there are changes to come, only what's been told to Ticketing thus far

However, realize, prices for AP go up every single year. So they will go up, it's simply a question of when

Thoughts on maybe the platinum “plus” will be the only pass without blackout dates ?
Or maybe they might just do away with the reg. Platinum and keep the plus .

I’m wondering if I should just upgrade my platinum ap’s to the plus.

All that money and they slap blackout dates on it would not sit well with my
Star Wars loving family .

I know Disneyland has only one with No blackout dates at this point .

Here’s another question since we have
Platinum vouchers and if they add blackout dates , that wouldn’t apply to the ones we have . Right ?
Sorry, all I know is the folks in ticketing have not been informed of any changes to AP so I would take it just like that, right now, there are no changes (as in, on the 16th) but that's all I would hazard to guess

As for changing Platinum, the pass says NO Blackout Dates. It doesn't say Blackout dates subject to change. There's no grey area for them to add Blackout Dates for this pass.

Disneyland has no water parks so it's impossible hold any comparisons to what they did there to a what they'll do at WDW with the Plus pass. Really WDW has only 1 Pass without blackout dates too (that non FL, non DVC can buy), it just comes with or without Water Parks.

Disneyland has no water parks. But I don’t understand how Disney thinks, so we will have to wait and see what they do with the APs.

I called the AP line before purchasing my AP and was told by a CM that she did not think that they would add Blockouts to a pass that specifically lists that it has no blockout dates. I purchased my voucher last night and there is a calendar that shows blockout dates and it only goes through October 2019. It has every date colored green until October available for Platinum passes.

It looks like the price increase on a platinum annual pass is 47.92. I had 4 in my cart totaling $3616.76 and refreshed to get a new total of $3808.44

So here I am waiting to find out if there’s an increase. We’re going to WDW in two weeks and I plan to upgrade to an annual pass. I emailed them practically begging for options to do it before I arrive but once again they said no must be done in person. Fingers crossed it’s not going to cost too much more now. I will be very disappointed if it does as I had everything budgeted and there was no way to do anything about it.

Currently I am only seeing the platinum and platinum plus passes for sale. We are on the fence with another trip and would need an annual pass. Does it appear the gold passes are now no longer an option? Anybody know? Or is this just my screen?
