EPCOT 2019 International Festival Of The Arts Discussion

So what are the chances of seeing the concerts without the dining package? I don’t really want to redo our ADRs.
We did the dining package last year and did not think it necessary. We are not going to bother with it this year.

Paint with a Disney Artist starts with a breakfast of sweet rolls and coffee. Since I'm diabetic they sent out for cereal, juice, toast and coffee for me which was appreciated. Then we went out to the park to where we were going to paint the French Restaurant and painted it live. Was quickly done and you need to be fast to keep up. Personally I did not like the choice of design and would have preferred something that said Disney to me which would have been almost anything except the French Restaurant (maybe the land or sea pavilions), but it was fun and they supplied everything we needed and kept our paintings until they dried rather than having to carry them around the park with us.

Touring plans have updated crowd projections for the week we're going (Feb 4-8), and are now predicting larger crowds. Looks like the festival has taken off as hoped.

I just wish they would release the seminar schedule

Well, I am supposing they will do that soon. The concert schedule is out and dining reservations will be available Friday. So, I expect that will happen pretty soon.

this is just a guess. They don't know as the festival hasn't actually opened yet!

I think dining reservations for the concert packages open tomorrow, per the Disney Parks Blog.

I booked a couple, and there doesn’t seem to be a way to pick the concert time—you just get what you get. Interesting. :)

Yeah - I remember that from last year. It seems that maybe they have assigned certain times to certain restaurants? Because I was going to change to R&C at the same time but it was the 8pm concert. I stuck with Garden Grill.

This sounds really fun. Although I imagine my painting would be unrecognizable. :rotfl:

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed the weirdness with the concert times. We booked noon lunches on consecutive days (2/23 and 2/24) at Biergarten and Rose & Crown, but got 5:30 and 8:00 show times. :confused3

I was able to grab an 8:15am Garden Grill Breakfast, first day of the festival so I was on the fence about whether I'd need it. First time I got the 6:45. I dropped my 6 month out made 8am garden grill in the process but I decided to go back and look for it and there it was, so I snagged the earlier time (I know with PPO GG it doesn't matter but I like having the 8am time knowing if they change their seating methods I can still get seated first and get out for Soarin') and it gave me the 5:30. Which I actually prefer - I prefer first show for CP too to distance it between that and illuminations. Also I can do 4:05 voices of liberty -> 4:30 American Adventure -> 5pm line up for concert.

So happy with my plans. 6:45 would have been ok too but happier with the 5:30 and happier with my 8am garden grill! Hoping all of the primo restaurant availability during my trip (as I've been moving a lot of stuff around) means that thep arks won't be terribly crowded. I'm a little concerned since they are starting the festival a week later than last year, I made Friday my full Epcot day (I have about 3 more afternoon/evenings planned there) that the first Friday will be crowded but hoping not toooooo bad.

That seems to reinforce my suspicion that certain restaurants and/or meals are automatically defaulted to set concerts. R&C lunch seems to default to 8pm for sure.

I booked 8:15am PPO Garden Grill giving up my 8am that I had and I got 6:45. I picked up the 8am that I had just released and gave up the 8:15am and ended up with 5:30. 15 minutes during the PPO period and 9 hours before the show should not make a difference really. I think it is somewhat random.

I'm curious about how they assign show times. I'm on the fence about a dining package. Not sure if I want to spend my money on this. Enjoy, everybody! Maybe we'll see some of you there!

I was planning to have breakfast that day anyway so it's about $30 more for me to add the package (assuming I lose my AP discount). I'm just concerned it will be overly crowded opening day. I don't think the shows at either F&G or this festival are remotely as popular as candlelight processional.

Nothing yet on seminars and workshops but DIS (https://www.wdwinfo.com/disney-world/epcot/festival-of-the-arts.htm) says that Paint with a Disney Artist will be held select Fridays and Sundays and the seminars will only be held Fridays to Mondays (the same as the first year of this festival). I'll only be at Disney from Sunday, February 3 and leave early the following Friday so I hope they offer something good on that Sunday.

Do you know when Disney will announce when the artists will be signing their art? Looking for Jasmine Becket-Griffith information.

Thanks,
