DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Morning gents. It looks like the neighbours re-painted the house. I'm not sure what it all means, but at least there's a different colour to look at for the next couple years.

Today is Tuesday and I think I'm in Toronto.
I guess there are worse places to be. Any time to see a Leafs game? Can you just walk up and get tickets to those games or do they sell out? I have no idea.

Well, early election results are in and not looking good. I guess that the other side of that coin is that if my job is over, we can move to Florida sooner if we have to start over.
Sorry to hear that it didn't turn out well for you.
I know I made a bit of a joke about it in my first comment. I don't mean to make light of it. Obviously it can have serious consequences for some of you guys. Being removed from it all and looking at it from afar, it's a bit like watching a game where you don't know the teams. I flipped around the US TV channels for a while last night just to see what was happening.
I'll have both provincial and federal elections to deal with next year in October, both at the same time, which has never happened before. Won't that be fun.

Top O the Morning Dads! Got a bug that knocked me down yesterday and is keeping me down again today. And before anyone asks, yes I did get a flu shot and a lot of good it's doing me. Need to shake this thing as I have business travel starting Saturday. Good news is that I will be in Orlando and may get some time at Disney Springs. Have a good one gents.
Yes, that part was pretty good. He's talented for a mouse.
I enjoyed the Zach Brown Band doing Bare Necessities too.
The rest was fairly forgettable.
Great minds think alike :rotfl:

Who would want to see a Leafs game? ;)

Actually I met up with Brian Blatt and we had looked at tickets about a month ago but all we could find was standing room for $175 or so. Not paying that.

And, it's Wednesday and the world is still here.

I can't afford to retire but I am hoping for a few more years so we don't have to uproot the youngest before she graduates high school. After that I will be more free to move though the market for someone my age, race, gender, and work experience would be pretty limited. We had a departmental meeting last week and reviewed the budget. My little department is being billed for thousands of $$$ a month in networking and access fees (phones and computers) that we have no say in among other things. We offered to rip out all the phones and just use our own and that isn't allowed. Also the word coming down from the top of the Ivory Tower is that departments will eventually have to be self-funding and departmental hires will be determined based on projected ability to obtain grants. So much for public service. I'm not sure the public deserves it though. My teens have a better understanding of basic economics than Ocasio-Cortez and yet she is going to Congress. :crazy2::sad2:

I have asked that often down here. I have an office that we pay "rent" for. But, I do everything online or travel to their location requested. I haven't met with any one outside the contracting agency at my local office in years, and when I do, I use a conference room. I've suggested I get to work out of my house as they save rent and I get tax deduction. Apparently, it is a mortal sin to make such a request.

As for economics, government seems to work differently than increase income and lower spending to balance a budget. You have to look at it 10 years from now based on the persimmons, wooly worms, and some type of voodoo magic. Now that's a whole new world....

Was it an ugly color?

As for the election, no offense taken. We had a 47% turnout, with 1.6 million of 3.4 million registered voters. Sadly, our Governor Thanos has pledged to end the retirement system for every teacher, state worker, police, etc., except the retirement of elected officials. The law he signed has been ruled unconstitutional thus far, pending a KY supreme court decision. He also increased local taxes on every state citizen by implementing new taxes on church fundraising activities, health clubs, etc. A huge portion of these 1.6 million voters had to be impacted by this, and yet and voted back in republican house/ senate members. I just don't get voting against your own self-interests.

Recover quickly.

Well the elections are finally over. That means only 2 years of bickering and fighting till we get to do it all over again.

They will start sooner than that.

I think you mean DTD. ;)
Let me know when and I might be able to pop over for a dismeet.

That is of course if you want to and if you're no longer sick.

Are you my neighbor? We just re-painted the exterior this week, so now we are the big navy-blue sore thumb on a court full of browns and tans. Should at least look better than the polka-dot look we had going on since we did the blow-in insulation in the spring. :teeth:

Can't blame you there. I wouldn't pay $175 for standing room. I wouldn't pay much for standing room, if at all.

Was it an ugly color?

Was it purple?
Seriously though, I think I heard one of the US networks (may have been NBC but I can't remember, I was flipping around) reference a purple house or purple seats or something. Is that an actual thing? Like a Rep. who can go both ways?

Morning gents.
Looks like winter is here to stay. I gazed upon my bike with sadness last night before setting off to work... slipping and sliding... in the car.

We're hanging on to Fall here, but barely. I still haven't changed to my winter tires, but that's going to be in the next couple weeks.

The Kaleidohouse is now a deep dark blue. (Lol I am not any kind of partisan at all.)

As for the purple, there is this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purple_America
Ohio is certainly much more purple-y than it used to be: it's interesting in my part of the state to see Democrat Sherrod Brown re-elected so comfortably, while also going Republican for all statewide positions, but then going Dem for all the county spots. Ohio is often misunderstood, but I actually think we are about the most reasonable of the states, politically and culturally, and do a pretty good job focusing on the candidate above the party.

sorry /politics
