I love credit cards so much!

Long time reader of this thread...first time poster.

Just got my wife approved for SW Biz card and trying to do the opposite and get it credited this year. We had done the personal earlier this year and the 60k will put her above 110 for the year. As long as we hit the spend in the first 30 days the 60k should post before the year end correct? It seems that all of the info I read had the bonus points posting right after the statement where the spend was achieved.

I'm in the same boat. I just SM'd today and they said my statement closes 11/18 with the first payment due 12/15. I was approved on 10/19. So if your wife was just approved you will probably only have one statement close before the end of the year. I'm not taking any chances so after my funding for a bank bonus didn't go through I went ahead and paid ahead on my water bill, internet, and bought gift cards that I will use for Christmas shopping.

Getting serious FOMO about the Amex BGR before it gets "relaunched" tomorrow with that higher AF I would have a really hard time justifying... I was approved for the BBP on 10/24 (I think) and the SPG Biz on 10/29. I think I can figure out the spend as long as I can use Amex at HEB to get Gift of College cards and VGCs to pay my health insurance and electric bills. Thoughts?

If it helps, the latest reports on r/churning is that the BGR application keeps erroring out. Amex may have pulled the application a little early. Keep trying though. If it goes through, maybe it was meant to be.

My tip of the day - If your child wants to study abroad make sure they go for a country that does not require a Visa. What a pain. Long list of documents required, and we don't really understand what they mean by some of it. And must go in person to apply. Our Region really supposed to go to NYC but we called and they said we could go to Washington DC, at least that is only about 3.5 hours from us. Hopefully she will have all the right documents in hand when we make the trip and not have to go back. Hoping to go during Thanksgiving break so she doesn't have to miss class. And just paid 2849 ZAR for 7 months of health insurance.

Oh and the visa says to have proof of Itinerary/Reservation of roundtrip airfare but not to buy airfare until Visa is obtained. Anyone know what that means? How do I get proof of reservation without buying??

Argh, yeah, nothing but errors for me. I really don't need more MSR but still...that's what I get for not checking in on the Disboards sooner today!

I had to laugh about this. Four kids, six study/internships abroad, plus one who worked a year in Taiwan and one who did a graduate degree in the UK. If it makes you feel better, I don't think any countries allow study abroad without a Visa. Even places like the UK, where you don't need a tourist Visa for stays under a certain number of days, have a ridiculously complex Visa application for people who want to stay for a semester or a year.

I will say that all of my kids received a lot of guidance from either their home or host schools, and sometimes both.

Yeah, same for me. I tried clicking in different "Apply Now" boxes, a different browser, no luck at all.

Dh and I bought tickets to Harry Potter live in concert instead of planning another Disney trip. We booked with my Amex card and I’m so excited!!!! We are going to stay overnight at a Hilton to earn more points and there are some great options near the theater. They have river view suites for under $200/night.

ETA: Disney has made me change my whole outlook on hotel prices. We can get a riverview suite, with a balcony and breakfast included for $145/night.

Starting today through Nov 10th Meijer has gift cards 10% off. Up to $1000 in gift cards I believe. Need to spend $50 to trigger this deal. Disney is in the photo of the ad as is Happy. Clip the digital coupon on the M Perks app.

Max discount $100.

I missed this a couple days ago, and it probably has very limited usefulness: 3x Amtrak points on all purchases via BoA cards.

I normally don't bother with non-signup bonus offers, but this is a surprisingly great offer. Seems to work on both the AF and no-AF cards, and is publicly available with no enrollment required. Amtrak points are worth a minimum of 1.7 cpp and up to 2.9 cpp (2.56 cpp on Acela), so there's a lot of potential here.

@WVMomof3 , I'm so sad your dd's school study abroad office hasn't been helping her/you. I remember reading this opportunity came up at pretty much the last minute?

Three kids, three study abroad periods (so far)--so much paperwork omg but we had points-of-contact, checklists, deadlines, and such.

Thanks, does make me feel a little better because I seriously think she was wanting to switch countries. lol Her school has not been much help at all. She does know someone that went last year and she has been helping her a little but only if we know enough to ask the question. Like the health insurance, the school gave her a card and said this is your health insurance, while the visa application clearly states the insurance must come from South Africa. I told DD I don't think what the school gave you is going to work, so she texted the other girl and she also said no, the school provided one did not work. That girl didn't find out till she was in South Africa that it didn't work. I guess the school one was enough for the visa but the host university also required it before they could start classes. I am trying to help but I really don't know what half of the stuff means.

She has actually been planning this particular university for over 2 years, so not last minute. Just her school submitted all her stuff late so feel like we are already behind. I have found more info from the host university than her own, which I understand they are working with lots of countries and universities, but I expected a little more from them.

I don't know what I was thinking last night when I set-up my BGR but I created a new account for it. Will Amex merge it with my other accounts if I give them a call?
