Twitter compliments

I just returned from a magical time at Walt Disney World. I just wanted to share with you all that when I had a cast member who went above and beyond, I gave them a shout out on twitter. If you do #wdwcastcompliment and mention the cast member, it gets them recognition by the management. I was saddened to see how few people use the tool to pass along the magic they receive.

I personally enjoyed watching the cast member's faces light up when I informed them about the compliment.

Good idea, thanks. I wouldn't be saddened by it; it is probably underused simply because people (like me) never considered doing it that way.

Do you also tag @WaltDisneyWorld or anything like that to give it a better chance of being seen by the appropriate person?

The way to do a cast compliment (and have it noticed) I believe is to tweet to @WDWToday, and use #castcompliment

Are there any other forms on social media where this can be done? I have pretty much everything but Twitter!

Or because people just don't have twitter. I sure don't. I just complement the CM to a supervisor in person.

We were leaving MK on this past Monday which was the cast member party day. As a tram full of cast member was unloading, quite a few people noticed them and some had tags that listed how many years service; some 20, 30 years etc. as they walk by a large crowd of departing guests started clapping. Very nice moment.

Email and the message is sent to the Manager of that department and is placed in the CM’s file.

That’s nice but doesn’t benefit the CM at all. Some Managers don’t know the CMs in their area. If you happened to commend an Attraction CM to an Entertainment Manager, that has no value to the CM.

All written compliments are placed in the CM’s work file and are of great value when transfers and promotions are concerned. A written Guest compliment has as much value as the written compliments from Managers and fellow CMs.

Just one of many nice moments that night. As we headed to MK on the monorail, we went through the Contemporary lobby and noticed that the CMs were applauding. It was bittersweet as it's my last official CM event.

I usually cast member compliments at City Hall at the end of each day :)
Thats fine... at MK.
City Hall is MKs main Guest Relations inside the park.
It should be mentioned that there are Guest Relations inside
the other parks, too. And, those are great for leaving positive feedback for the CMs at those respective paks.

I've sent emails before to thank specific CMs, using the guest communications email.

I send in emails whenever I have a great experience or cast member. Have it stored in my phone so I can shoot off a quick note while I wait.

One day in college (over 10 years ago), my friend and I were bored, so we challenged CMs in all the countries around Epcot to sing their national anthem.....some were fun and some felt embarrassed, so we went to GR at Epcot and asked for the compliment cards (I don't know what they were called back then haha) and we spent about 30 min filling them out on the carpet inside for each CM we bothered hahaha

Then about a month later, we were doing kidcot stations around the world (we found interesting ways to entertain ourselves in college haha) and a CM walked up to the CM manning the station in Canada and was like "you remember when I sang the anthem for those guests a month ago? I got a certificate for that today!" and we were like "HEY THAT WAS US!!"

So the ones in person might take a bit of time, but they still work! I usually saw a pic with the CM on the cast compliment within a week or so.

We sent out #CastCompliment tweets and tagged @WDWToday on Twittr after each night of our recent trip. For our CM’s that really wowed is during our stay at the Contemporary, we also wrote handwritten notes (DD10’s idea) of appreciation and delivered them to the front desk to be passed onto management and the CM’s on our last morning.

It was great to be able to return a little kindness for so much magic that had been thrown our way during our stay.::MickeyMo

Is anyone curious as to what the process is after a guest submits a compliment?
Is it the same process for email, Guest Fanatic forms, and Grape Soda compliments?

When I emailed a compliment regarding a Contemp Front Desk CM, it was then sent to the Contemp Manager who printed it out and read it aloud during a CM staff meeting. The CM recipient then messaged my CM friend to say that “I sure can write.”

It did read like a Letter of Recommendation and shortly after, the Front Desk CM received a Manager position at AoA. :-)

Wow, it's almost like you know a CM. In addition, the CM is also eligible to win a nice prize in a drawing and the recognition appears on their record card. Disney does a nice job regrading CM recognition.

Yup; I can do this search on Twitter:
#castcompliment /CM friend’s name/ and find the compliments that have been sent in for her. :-)
