Airmiles Shop the Block 2018 - BONUS MILES POSTING NOW

id love to hear your review if you don’t mind sharing
Ok...let’s hope my pics will post. They’re on my phone and it’s misbehaving these days.

I was very impressed with the packaging, so things were off to a great start. I was sceptical of how they could ship raw chicken from QC to ON without giving me food poisoning. The box left Montreal? at 5am and landed on my door step at 3pm with still frozen solid ice packs and very cold meat packed in between the ice packs. The recipe cards have very detailed info and instructions that are easy to follow. If it said 30 total time it was right on, if not a little less. The long and short of it is that we enjoyed 3 meals that were very different from our norm and it felt like dinner out. For sure I will order again.

My dumb phone will only upload this pic. If you want to see the other two that I have PM me with an email that I can send them to.

BTW, portion wise they were a bit large for us but not huge. There were some left overs. We only eat from small lunch plates which is what is in the pic.

We get Good Food Box and get 2 servings which has been plenty for the 3 of us (me, DH and our 13 year old DS). There are sometimes leftovers but most of the time it is a pretty perfect amount for us. I decided once to get the 4 serving size and I just about burst a gut laughing at how much food there was! Waaaaay more than we could eat.

I agree that 2 adults and a child could easily eat from the 2 serving box...not sure I would suggest a 13yo boy though. Yours must not be a big eater, my brother's boys at 13 were skin and bone but still ate way more than their dad.

One of the meals we had I didn't even cook all the veg because it looked like enough for 4-5 people. The one in the above pic had enough of the side for two dinners for us but the exception was the pork chops. They were the really thin ones and were smaller than my hand, plus there were only 2. We also had a chicken taco type thing. That could have easily been extended to 3 or maybe 4 except there were only 2 pitas. This dish was by far our favourite and easily replicated.

Some of the meals are plenty for the three of us but some (like your taco example) are really designed for two. All of us are really big on eating lots of veggies (although we are not vegetarian by any stretch of the imagination, bacon is life!) so the smaller serving of meat works for us. One thing that I have thought about doing when there is a meal that the protein is just not enough is to just go to the store and buy a little extra of whatever protein it is. Most of the things I already have in the freezer (like frozen shrimp or chicken thighs) so adding a bit extra is not hard. They are pretty near perfect on nights that I go out to spin, plenty for the two of them and some not-to-heavy leftovers for me when I get home!

I've started to clean up the first page now that there are firm details. Make a point of at least glancing thru those posts to see if anything is missing or incorrect. I'll add information as it becomes available and will do my best to track down a link to all of the coupons like I've been able to do in the past.

One more thought from the Duck while we wait for this games to begin: We have a full 6 weeks to complete the promo this time so there's no need to rush through and complete your offers. The last 4 big promos have all ended up having overlapping offers in the flyers that allow for more miles to be earned (I'm looking at you Sobeys & your gift cards :P ) This household always tries to complete these promos with minimal cash outlay and the extra 2 weeks are more than welcome! I'll be doing things that allow me to get one or 2 coupons out of one initial spend -- example, buy a gift card at Shell that i can use online or in store that will complete another coupon. IF the airmiles shop is part (more than likely) I will buy Amazon -- wonder if Groupon gift cards are available?? I noticed last night that Photobook Canada is new to the online portal, so gift card for Groupon to buy the gift card to Photobook and then use it and that would be 2 online transactions

Those of you who track your STB or any big promo transactions, how do you do it? I just set myself up a google doc, the headings I have are "Partner, Promo, Date completed, Date Miles posted and a note if I have the reciept captured. Am I missing anything?

I have a binder or notebook and I just record the transactions by hand and throw the receipts in the pocket or sometimes a Ziplock with the promo name on it . I generally prefer paper lists and this works for me.

I’m not sure whether to keep collecting cash miles or not. Our houselhold will be collecting on my card, dh’s card, and dd21’s card. We have a trip coming up for March break. I would like the miles to go towards trip expenses in some way. This is where it gets tricky. I don’t think I would have enough miles for tickets on any of the cards so collecting for those is out. So then I suppose it makes more sense to collect some as cash miles and use them for gas/groceries and put that cash saved towards the trip. But .. we are driving down and back and need a hotel each way of the drive. So maybe I will make Dh’s card dream miles for hotels .

Also, can anyone tell me how the Starbucks cash rewards work ? If I got bunch of them could I combine them onto a gift card or my account before leaving and then use them in the parks? I’m aware I will lose the exchange. I’m just not clear on how best to combine and use them .

Thanks for listening to me ramble. o_O

But what if you can't get the hotel nights at a reasonable amount of miles when you go to book them? You might have been better off keeping those at cash miles...? I'm always on the fence about flights for this very reason.

In general Starbucks gift cards can be combined on your account, and you can use that to pay (I've done it a MCO, never in the parks, lines are always too long for me at Starbucks there). yes you lose on exchange rate but it's kind of "free money" so I don't think it's that bad.

I collect dream miles, and intend to do so for this promotion. because it's one per store I won't be doing the "spend XAM to earn AM" promotions. I have no cash AM and don't want to switch. I need the dream miles. So... up to you I guess! But I expect I will be able to do 7 stores any way (Shell, Sobeys, Rexall, Metro, Children's Place, probably Miss Fresh, and LCBO or another one depending on what's actually available). While it will be out of pocket money, I shop at these places any way (well not really Miss Fresh but I've wanted to try it, and LCBO but Christmas is coming so I need a work gift). Now if it was 7 offers I would consider switching to use those offers.

I think you are going March break (like me!) and if you are driving then you could be looking to book the hotels sooner than later, so see how many AM they are and go from there. If you wait until right before they may go up in "cost". I don't think you'd be able to get flights at this point (At least when I check the flights are all crazy expensive).

For the how to keep track, I have a spread sheet with store & short note (ie 1 of 7 shops), date of purchase, date expected AM, # am expected, and a running tally of how many AM that will mean for me total. My note may also include the $ of the purchase (especially for the airmiles online shop as that is needed to follow up/track them). I track one total AM for the shop except for online bonuses because they have a different "due date". I highlight the Total AM box when the miles have posted.

I grab an extra booklet and staple the receipts to it, then I toss it into my desk drawer and look at it when people here start posting that they are seeing the bonus miles in their account. :D

I'm another "old-school" tracker! I'll be picking up multiple copies of the coupon booklets so that I can have a complete one handy and cut others up to allow me to staple the correct coupon to my receipt. I keep 2 small bags from David's Tea beside my desk and receipts get stuffed in those -- one bag for stuff not connected to AM since hubby has his own business we need to keep track. Once the miles post to my account I check off the receipt and toss them in the other bag. For the big promos I will write on the top which account it's for and the # of coupon that represents & tuck them inside a booklet. I have a separate file in my email for anything connected to online shopping as well as one for AM and move everything into the correct file as they come in.

Last big promo AM added a way for us to "Save" offers and as i used a coupon I clicked that for reference and took a screenshot. I would LOVE it if they would figure out a way to have the miles post with a note that they are connected to the promo but that would be too easy for us :P

I would recommend checking your receipt before you leave the store for some indication that the coupon was actually scanned -- there should be a PLU number. If it isn't there it's much easier to correct it on the spot rather than waiting till later and trying to prove that you did in fact hand over the coupon!!! (voice of experience here!) I won't bother chasing down any miles until the final bonus starts posting because i find that has been a waste of my time before --- the rep will say they've added a notification to my account but i don't think that happens.

Pigletto
Starbucks
I have three plastic cards.
(Spring Break Fun,,Christmas Holiday,,Fun Money).
When I buy-order a e-voucher from airmiles the e-voucher is emailed to me,,there is an option to add to account and this is what I do.
I use mine quite a bit in Disney Springs and also in Epcot.
I know there are a few place at U/O to use them also.
