Keys to the Kingdom Tour

Our family has talked about this tour before but our "kids" haven't been old enough until this trip. We'll be in the parks from December 9th through the 16th but to schedule it, I'm going to have to completely re-arrange two of my planned days. I think all of us will enjoy it immensely but the thought of re-arranging stuff is exhausting! For those of you who have taken this tour, would you recommend it? The day that it will fit is a party day so it'll take up half of the day.
Thanks!

I took the tour just last week. It was also on a party night so the park was not extra crowded. This is all in Magic Kingdom so it very detailed and fun. Lots of background and history. We rode Jungle Cruise and would have done Haunted Mansion but it was down.
Lunch was at Pecos Bills and was very good. I never had tried that place. There were no teens on this tour.
We had the 10 tour and it was done around 3:10.
I won't tell you much about the tunnels" because you need to see them for yourself. It is really cool.

Awesome information. Have you done any of the other MK tours? I see there are several but this one looks like the most interesting.

If you need something with a shorter tour time, look into the Marceline Tour. It is similar to Keys of the Kingdom with the Main Street and Walt's life story but you don't go to the utilidors. Instead you get to go under the Haunted Mansion while in operation. The other ride on the tour was Carousel of Progress. This was in 2016.

I don't think you can go wrong with any Disney tour - just did the DestiNations Discovered tour in Epcot last week and had a ball.
As for MK - have done, Keys to the Kingdom and it was great. Have also enjoyed the Marceline to Magic Kingdom tour. Both of these are different - might just come down to how much time you have to fit in in your schedule. The Marceline is shorter ( might be a consideration depending on kids ages)

Don't forget tours are 10% off with Disney Visa card!

Spouse and I did the Keys tour last year - was definitely worth it. Have fun

Thanks everyone! The "kids" are 18 and 22 and I think the Keys tour will be the one enjoyed by all four of us the most. We have three days for MK so I definitely think we have the time. I just had everything planned with fastpasses, etc....and the date I was looking at for the tour was booked solid. I went ahead and booked and I'll look at moving around fastpasses. I think we'll all love it.

took this tour on Oct 26 with my DD18. I had done this tour many, many years ago and my DD asked if she could do it, this is when she was 11, I told her that the day she turned 18 we would do it, and we did :)
I have done it 3 times and each time I have learned something new, my DD LOVED the tour, she's been coming to the parks since she was 6 months old, she said it didn't ruin the magic for her, actually enhanced it.
We were about to do Jungle Cruise but here was a medical emergency on the dock (a guest was laying down on the floor) we waited for about 5 minutes but had to move on so we did Tiki room, also did HM and lunch at Pecos Bill
We had Molly as our guide, she was very good. Hope you enjoy it

My wife and I did this tour in August an it was awesome. Lots of backstage time and info. We took the first tour of the day which I think was at 8am. We were done at about 1 and had plenty of time the rest of the day to enjoy the parks.

Great info! Ours is at 8:30 so we'll probably be done around 1:30. Would you do a 1-2 FP or not chance it and do later?

I did it in Sept - same thing - HM went down and I think our guide gave us anytime FPs so I got to use it for 7DMT.

I loved the tour. I don't think you will regret it at all

I did it on Wednesday and you will love it, it really flew by. If you think seeing characters partially in costume i.e we saw half a country bear drinking a coffee and a partially wigged Rapunzel then take Marcelline to the Magic Kingdom instead as that's equally enjoyable. I loved seeing the backstage elements personally.

My DH & I did KTTK earlier this year. It was awesome. There were no teens on our tour. And while we both loved all the information, we both agreed our 16yr old would’ve been bored for most of it. Though, DD would’ve enjoyed going thru backstage for HM, she wouldn’t have found most of the other stuff that interesting. But take that with a grain of salt, all kids are different. Ours want a bit more excitement, like rides, & not so much the history, etc. As to your question about rearranging your days, I would, but we go 1-2 times a year, so it’s not important to hit all attractions at the parks. But it’s definitely an awesome tour if you’re interested.

I love the Dis...I knew I could come here to get great responses! I moved around our days. Really just switched one of AK days with a MK day that the tour was available. I had FOP for both AK days and it pained me to let it go. I'll keep checking and maybe I can get it for the second day.
I set our Fastpasses to start at 1:30 on the day we do the tour. We're focusing on Adventureland and Fronteirland that day. I did use my Disney Visa and was able to save a bit as well! My daughter is 18 and my son is 22. My daughter is the one who's been the most excited to take this tour over the years and couldn't wait until she was old enough. Our son is along for the ride but enjoys the history behind things so I think we'll all be happy. We're not doing the Christmas Party because I just couldn't justify the cost versus our group's interest so this our special splurge.

Does anyone who's done this know if tour guides are allowed to accept tips? I normally tip on tours, but wasn't sure for WDW
