Hate that it’s dark at 5pm!

Anyone else not liking this daylight savings time stuff? I love it come spring when it stays light until 8 or 9, but now not so much. We have been ready for bed at like 7:30 this past week.. Guess we are still adjusting.

You're confusing daylight saving time with standard time. Going back to standard time caused it to get dark at 5 pm. Staying light until 8 or 9 is the benefit of daylight saving time.

Looks like you'd like daylight saving time year round, which is a very common desire.

We never go to daylight saving time. It usually gets dark around 6 pm t the earliest 545. I’m not a fan, but I like the cooler temps. Since I have to be up at 5 it does make getting to bed earlier easy.

That would mean on the longest night of the year, sunrise would be after 8 am and most people would commute in the dark.

Hate Standard Time. We sit outside and grill every night, even using a propane patio heater as it gets cooler. Now it's dark before the charcoal is ready and light starts creeping into the bedroom hours before we get up.

I also do not like standard time. But so far this week, I've managed a lot better than years before.

Kept myself busy each evening this week and have not allowed myself to sit until I get several odd chores completed.

I've also added a few supplements this year which help me sleep better. I think that's keeping me less tired in the evenings.

I'm still waking up an hour earlier. Dang internal clock hasn't caught up.

I hate it getting dark earlier, too. I feel like I have to be in for the night and really don't feel like running out to do errands or go to the gym even though the time is still plenty early enough.

I so know what you mean. I like long, summer days.

I wish we could compromise and get shorter summer days (for relief from the heat) and longer winter days, so it wasn't such a slog. Oh well, I can dream.

I adjust every fall to the early darkness.

But hey, how was your cross country trip from the east to the west this past summer. :)

I just dislike it being darker more in general. I hate driving to work at 615/630 in the pitch dark, but I also hate that it starts to get dark before 5. I LOVE summer... bring it back!!!! lol

Makes no difference to me. We're usually home to stay by 4 pm. And with a 7 pm bedtime due to a 3 am start time at work, the days when it is still light until 9 pm are the rough ones, despite blackout curtains in the bedroom.

thats what its like where I live. In the winter sunrise is about 8.15am and its dark by 4.30pm.

I just hate the changing back and forth! We supposedly "gain" an hour of sleep in the fall, but I've actually lost sleep for several nights, because I've been waking up before I have to. (And my teenager is a mess - they already don't get enough sleep.)
