Does anyone have any suggestions on places in the parks where an 18-month-old can run around for a little bit? Wasn’t sure if any of the play areas were ok for a kid his age.

TIA

most of the resorts have a toddler area. Not sure about the parks. In Magic Kingdom, maybe Tom Sawyer's Island

I know there was a thread posted about the playgrounds for kids, but in places like the Boneyard and Casey Jr. Can the parents climb after their kids? I have a two year old and she is pretty adventurous and decent a playgrounds but is kinda little to climb completely by herself. I am just worried about her climbing and getting scared or stuck. TIA.

The Boneyard in AK Dinoland is great. it's well contained. There's a great little play area that's perfect for littles at Splash Mountain. It's on the right as you are heading toward the restrooms that are tucked back in there. The standby queue for Dumbo is an indoor play area.
There are some great little splash pad areas scattered around epcot

Unless something has changed in the past year, adults are allowed as well. Either that or I've been breaking the rules for years. :rolleyes1

only problem we had were older larger kids running over younger toddlers there as it is too small for number of kids using

One of our favorite spots is the grassy/turf areas in the hub. Perfect uncrowded spot to let them run for a few minutes! There’s also a play area near Splash Mountain entrance that’s great for little ones and shaded.

Other favorites include the splash fountain at Epcot (bring change of clothes and shoes!), and play area inside Dumbo queue (inside with A/C).

At 18 month old my DD was perfectly happy with the little things, like going up and down the steps around Echo Lake in HS. Also, just any place that had a little alcove of space, like near a gate that the parade comes in and out of. There is so much going on that just a spot for them to get out of the stroller and work those little legs was enough and means you don't have to over think the plans.

I think my son’s favorite Disney attraction is the Boneyard! He also loves the playground near Splash Mountain.

I really miss Honey I Shrunk the Kids at HS. Loved to play hide-and-seek with my kids there.

On that note, used to be a great one at/next to where 20,000 leagues under the sea was - I think Pixie Hollow - not sure the name now. Too valuable space for a kiddie playground though!! :(
