MK 2 day touring plans to minimize walking- how to divvy up the park?

I am taking my mom, 68, and my two kids, who will be 10 & 8 in May 2019. I've been to Disney with my kids and husband twice before, and we normally do two days at MK, and run back and forth like crazy through the park to hit everything! It wasn't until after I already (inefficiently) booked fastpasses on my last trip that someone here mentioned dividing the park up so you hit stuff in the same vicinity on day 1, and the rest of the park on day 2.

In an effort to make the trip a little less taxing on my mom, who is in decent shape, but at 68, moves slower than the kids and I, I would like to employ this "divvy MK in two" strategy. But I'm having trouble figuring out where I should be drawing my lines. My initial thought was to do Fantasyland and Tomorrowland one day, and everything else another day... but I think Fantasyland and Tomorrowland have the most attractions, so we might really be stuffing one day with too many things, and our next day in Frontierland and Adventureland and Liberty Square would be too light? What about doing Tomorrowland and whatever land is at the bottom left of the map, and then Fantasyland and whatever is at the top left one day? Would that be more even?

Any thoughts on how to split this up most efficiently would be greatly appreciated! How have you done it? What would you recommend?

The problem with doing it top and bottom is you're not going to be saving many steps as you have to go through the hub somewhere to get to the other land, and that's not a short walk. Also, Tomorrowland only has 5 or 6 attractions and Adventureland has 2 or 3, so you could easily be finished with all of it early in the afternoon.

Aha! See, this is why I come here, you guys all point out things that I hadn't thought of... Even if it is something obvious (i.e., I could have seen this looking at a map), sometimes I'm just so in the details I miss things!

We like Adventure/Frontierland/Liberty Sq/Peter Pan/Small World one day and the rest on the other
worked well for us with grandparents along

Cool, I'll look at the attractions in those areas and try to plan out a day... getting Peter Pan and Small World in with that half of the park is a good idea!

Go down Main Street and turn right to Tomorrowland. Next day turn left into Adventureland. Both days work toward Fantasyland.

Or go to Fantasyland and work toward Tommorwland on the first day and go the other way on day 2.

WDW newbie here (so all my planning is completely theoritical!) but I've been obsessively studying here and doing scenarios in TP itineraries and settled on the the approach mentioned above me. Day one will be Adventureland/Frontierland/Liberty Square + Haunted Mansion. We have a Liberty Tree Tavern reservation for dinner and I got FPs for Pirates, Big Thunder and Splash starting at 10:00. We also plan on watching the parade from around Country Bear Jamboree (hoping that's an okay spot) My itinerary has us starting casually about 9 and it has us basically done by 6:30. If TP is to be believed! It's EMH that night - so lots of time to spare if TP isn't totally accurate. (ie I might let the kids might get to go the bathroom sometime during the day! :P Actually I think I set it easy enough that we won't be rushing) After 6:30, we move into Fantasyland (to make our 2nd day less busy) or repeating rides. Also will do lantern pics and watch Once Upon a Time. 2nd day getting a good spot for fireworks will be more priority. 2nd day we are starting in Tomorrowland with FPs for Space at 10 (again, not RDing. Just easy 9am start) and then later moving into Fantasyland with FPs for 7DMT (11:00) and Peter Pan (12:40). And a 2:30 BOG reservation to get cupcakes. Again, i think we should be done about 7:00. Our plans are ride focused. I put in time for snacks and a few character M&G but only a couple. My kids (6,8,10) aren't super into M&Gs and we are near Disneyland so we've met all the princesses. I pretty much just scheduled time for Gaston and we might add a few if lines and time permits.

We are going in a couple weeks so I don't have the heat to contend with, so I didn't schedule any big breaks in other than meals and snacks. I can post afterwards to let you if I planned well!

First print out a map of the park. There is one you can print up from easy wdw. On this draw your line to divide up the park - which might mean from HM to the left towards Frontier land is one day and the right side of the park your other day. We have found that this really makes planning so much easier. I prefer to create a flow of our plans - so we are not running from space mt to BOG for lunch -- your touring plan basically takes you from one land to the next without back tracking. Plot your meals and FP with using the map. When you can visualize it all you will see where your errors are. Also include time/breaks for shopping -- you may want to stop in a shop but if you try to pack your day too tightly you might find your self needing to run off to the next FP.

Also if you are all early risers and can get to the park at RD you can accomplish a ton and then start your FP at 10:30 (if park opening is at 9am). This allows for a good amount of rides that you can do before 1:00pm which will allow for an afternoon break -- then your evening back at MK can be for fireworks and just roaming without any particular plan

Don’t forget you can also hop on the train to go from one side of the park to another. I think you can catch the train on Main Street, Frontierland and between tomorrow land and fantasyland.

My son and I are going to do Fantasyland and Tomorrowland one day. And Frontierland, Adventureland, and Liberty Square the next day we're in MK. Depending on if I can get 7DMT FP will determine which lands we visit on what day.

The train will not be operating most of next year, as of today it is scheduled to go down on December 3rd

We focus on Adventureland/Frontierland/Liberty Square one day and Fantasyland/Tomorrowland another day, although we end up adding more FP and running all over the place after we finish what we had planned to do.

Do Tomorrowland and Fantasyland on one day, Adventure, Frontier, and Liberty another.

My January plan has us doing the following on an EMH morning:
Astro
Space
Buzz
Teacups
Dumbo
Barnstormer
Mermaid
Enchanted FP
IASW
HM FP
Philharmonic (maybe)
Pooh FP
Lunch
Carousel
Transit Authority
Monsters
(Train, speedway, and Peter Pan are closed)

This has us done by 2pm. This allows us to FP stuff the rest of the day. We have a similar schedule the second day for the other half of the park. We almost always tour MK like this because we have two little kids who don’t like to walk.

I just want to say, WELL DONE! I think your plan looks fantastic and very doable. It looks more like a pro than a newbie. Have a magical vacation!

(and yes, please come back and tell us how it goes).

yes, between the Fantasyland train station and Space Mountain

Well alrighty then! Sounds like that's going to be a big one! Another FP+ cross your fingers and hope you get it! Is there someplace I can read about it? When is the projected opening?
