Unknown beyond “summer 2019” seen rumors late June as people speculate it will coincide with new AP blackout calendar. Imho if you don’t have hotels yet I’d grab them. Could get crazy when they announce dates.
Maybe previews (paid or otherwise). But they won’t open it while all passes are unblocked! That would be even more insane! If they can have it ready by Memorial Day weekend, I cannot imagine it not being open by then.

From the DLR website https://disneyland.disney.go.com/passes/blockout-dates/, all APs are not unblocked. The SCAPs are blocked the entire months of June and July and most of August. They have traditionally been the ones who really bring the crowds to DLR in June.Maybe previews (paid or otherwise). But they won’t open it while all passes are unblocked! (Also I think there’s a lot more needed to do than we can see from exterior photos! It’s 2 new ride systems that will require A LOT of testing and training!)
I think/hope Disney learned something when they opened Pandora over Memorial Day weekend in 2017 at Animal Kingdom in Florida. I have written this elsewhere in this forum, but I was shocked at how well Disney handled that as far crowds. Wait times for the new rides were 5-6 hours. And wait times to even enter Pandora were an hour - yes, they restricted access to the new land. Only when people left would they allow new people in.I do think the June 21 estimate is the best guess, but I almost wonder if they'll try to do something in May, even if it's a special event/preview/pay $1000 to see it type thing. May is a big month for Star Wars fans, so I could see it bringing in a lot of extra revenue.
I'm wondering if due to the immersive nature, they'll do some small preview groups since all CMs will have to be "in character." I'm thinking of when Universal Hollywood opened WWOHP. They had unpublicized previews for 2-3 months to make sure CMs understood their roles and ride operation protocols and to run a showcase-type walkthrough with the higher ups in the company. I don't think Disney has ever used that model, but the scale, scope, and expectations for this project are so much bigger than anything in the past, so I am curious how they will ensure their staff can handle the crowd control, immersive nature, and...let's call it what it is, rabid SW fans.
I myself am toying with trying to go for opening, but I'm really hesitant to book a hotel room for June until dates are announced even though I know prices will skyrocket and availability will be limited.

What is not blocked are DAPs, which have never been blocked in the summer before (except on Saturdays), and are blocked in 2019 basically on weekends in June. With June not being as busy most years as July and August anyways.
I guess we will find out as soon as Disney announces it. But I will double-down on my post. I have no more knowledge than anyone else. But I would be really surprised if Disney waited until late June to open SWGE - unless they just cannot get it completed until then. Which does not sound like the case.
A lot of people have voiced this, but I will bring us all back to the fact that Disney has elected to block all SCAP and SCAP Selects for the entire month of June. In the past they have stayed active into late June (on weekdays, anyways). Why would they block the SCAPs for the whole month if they planned to open SWGE in late June? My answer? They wouldn't.The deluxe passes used to only be blocked on Saturday's in the summer. Now they are blocked starting June 21st all the way through August 18th in Disneyland Park. My guess is official opening is going to be Friday June 21st!
It looks like @TheZue and I agree on this. This has been my guess as well. Why else block the Southern Cal passes a month early? I think they are giving the pricey deluxe passes a couple weeks before they block them.
This is what I expect as well... assuming things go as they plan (cough, cough, World of Color).A lot of people have voiced this, but I will bring us all back to the fact that Disney has elected to block all SCAP and SCAP Selects for the entire month of June.
