Headed back to the Fort, January 2019 TR thread.

We're going to be there from the 19th to the 26th. We have booked a preferred site and we're bringing our camper. This is our fifth trip to Disney in six years but only our second time to bring our camper to the Fort. We can't wait and are counting down the days!

Last year was 100% absolutely the VERY last time we were going to pull DD out of school to come to Disney in January. She's in first grade now and it was just not responsible parenting....

But we are addicts I suppose and we're just going to do it ONE MORE TIME. What can I say, we love Disney and we love the FORT!

For those of you in the Full sites (Vince, Boomer), how do you think a 42 ft 5th wheel would fit? I've looped through quite a bit on a golf cart and like the openness of the sites. I'm fine with not having as much asphalt, but I never paid much attention to the actual loops and the majority of the sites. I just remember the ones that seemed to be a lot more open than the Preferred or Premium sites we have been in lately.

Hi neighbor  we are across the way in 1736.

When we used to rent an RV, we always stayed in these full hookup loops. I love their location and how spacious they feel. As per the snowbird / part time resident we met this morning in 1700, there are a lot of part timers arriving to that loop in the next few days. It seems very lively.

Wait, the time on your post is 6:13am. You're 8 minutes late. :teeth:

Wow, decorations are already down from that lobby entrance.

Have a great stay, snowmedic.

Ed he would have been on time but once he got his Golf Cart he stalked me down to the dog park

who wants to go scope out the 400 loop but maybe on friday? We are coming in Sunday and hoping for 400. i think it was 417 we were in last time and loved it.
Kris I am sure I can run down that way and check it out for you.

Our 5th wheel is 39.5’ and fits fine. Some sites are easier to back into than others. We have been in Premium, Preferred and Full and find this to be the case in all three categories.

I know what you mean about each loop has some that are a better fit than others. These were the Premium sites we had in September 2017 (1400 loop) and this past September (2018). Both were tight and felt cramped. Both sites I was all the way at the far edge. The 1400 site (top pic) I was backed into the trees, but still had to park the truck sideways and I couldn't put the awning all the way out. This was the day the Fort reopened after Irma and half the loops were closed, so I can't say much. We made it work.

The bottom site (600 loop) felt tight because of the way the site next to us was set. We almost shared a joined drive. The site was plenty deep as I had the tail out over the canal.

Riding through the Full cloverleaf loops just felt more open. Now that I know I can fit (and navigate the loop) I may save some $$ next trip and have more room.

Very jealous right now but hey who wouldn't be :D Vince how did the new Motorhome handle going down to Florida?

Motor home stayed in Vt. covered in snow. This was just a short trip down. Stayed one night at AOA then went to Destin to see my parents for 5 days then checked in to the Fort for 3 days. Over in Cocoa now having lunch at FishLips near my he cruise ships then heading back north.

@FtW Mike you have a fire pit for me correct? Making the grocery list and I put firewood on it.

Almost to Florida, will be staying at Ocala sun tonight.

So, I was at the Fort for a total of 2 1/2 days and my TR is slacking. We did get to cruise around on the GC, (remember Disney increased there cart prices), and see the wonderful Christmas decorations, and met a new Dis member, @FtW Mike, nice meeting you and talking about the route we should take when we come back down with the MH. He offered us one of the TFP to use but we were to busy trying to get a lot of Disney time in in such a short stay.

We also got to talk to @Boomer1 again this year, we where directly across the road from each other in the 1700 loop, nice seeing you again.

Other than the plethora of rocking chairs on the TE porch, I did notice 2 other differences that got my attention.
First, and I did not get a pic of it, in the horse barn at the Settlement the Calliope was missing, ( not my pic )

and was replaced with a different carriage. I didn’t have my phone so no pic.

Then the next thing that I noticed was this.

Again, not my pic. At the back gate by the overflow lot, this is what was there for you to scan your MB to let you in. I remember this being there in in August when there. Now it is replace with this, sorry about pic quality, it was dark.

This band reader is also the one up higher for the bigger trucks to use. I was a little shocked when I first seen this.

Well that is all for now.
