DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Stupid storm!

I was scheduled to fly to Montreal at 5:10 am tomorrow and connect to Orlando for DDCC. At 11 this morning the flight to Montreal was cancelled. The good news is that I was able to reschedule the flight to leave at Noon for Toronto and then on to Orlando later in the afternoon. I will miss out on Boma but hopefully there will be not more weather issues.

That sucks. Hopefully second time’s the charm.

Got some Great news from my Doctor today. He told me everything was going well with my cancer treatments and things are looking good.I don't have to do any more for awhile.:cool1::dancer::drinking1:drinking1:drinking1:drinking1 Get revaluated in 6 months.

Now just 20 day, 9hrs and 40 min and we are on our way home.

Excellent news!!! That’s great!!

Awesome news, I will buy you a Moracorita in Epcot on the 1st:drinking1:thumbsup2

Wait! How would that be a full year? You're thinking January of 2020?
Some time in January (2019) would be sometime in the next 23 days.

Sometime this January. Shouldn't health insurance be good 1/1/19 to 12/31/19. Nope. Not on my plan. If you like your plan, keep your plan.

$7000 deductible!! Holy crap!

::yes::

Holy crap!

And... too tired to think of anything else to say.

And, they want to take away my retirement that I paid into for 23 years.

What would you do the other 2.5 minutes?

.

Nap.

::yes::

Yikes. Hope you get a decent answer.

I got an answer. First paycheck. So, health insurance HSA starts 1/15.

Some good news.

Another reason my employer sucks. I have the "free" health care coverage, with a $7000 deductible. But, I get a $1000 HSA. I found out this AM that the HSA won't be funded until some time in January. My response was that we aren't covered then for a full year of health insurance? No response yet from HR. :furious:

Well, at least your half way there.

What The:headache:. You guys should go union:confused3. That would be considered totally unacceptable:rolleyes1

Safe travels, hope no additional challenges for you and sorry you’ll miss Boma. See ya Friday

Awesome!!

And like that, Governor Thanos has enacted new rules to prevent citizens from being near the House of Representatives in the Congress building. 4 year survival plan looks less likely each day.

I agree. We are a Right to Work state here. See how better things are? :sad2:

Maybe you could buy it back for $40,000/year!

That would probably be the initial offering price.

DW's birthday was yesterday. Being a work/school night we didn't do too much, just went out for a family dinner. Early January is a horrible time to have a birthday, at least when it comes to me figuring out a presents, after having just done it two weeks prior for Christmas. Generally, my choices had landed with a thud. I finally got a gift she liked. I hadn't bought her jewellery in a while and I know she likes her birthstone (garnet). I went into the jewellery store closest to my house and told the sales lady to pick me out a necklace/earring set. I went with the first thing she recommended, and it worked. Easy peasy. I'm out of the woods for another year.

Well crud. I hope it goes OK for you.
I guess your storm is the one we are supposed to get here tomorrow morning. They are forecasting bad freezing rain with 1/2 inch of ice on everything by this time tomorrow. Not fun.

Enjoy the DDCC. It looks like the guys are having a nice time in the party house. I saw the video our Chief Bacon Officer put on FB.
Maybe I'll get to one of those someday.

Just another day of work for me. Oddly enough I wanna go to Disney instead.
Gee, I have never felt that way :rolleyes1

Bit of a late report, but we've been working on alternating responsibility for putting together 'Date Nights at Home' for each other as we have a 1 year old and no babysitter. I think I really hit it out of the park last time around !

I got the idea off of Reddit so I can't take credit for that. What I did was hit up Dollar Tree / Kroger for these supplies:
  • A pack of Generic Greeting cards (They said 'Wow!' on the front)
  • DW's favorite candy (Peanut MM's)
  • A pack of fancy pants microwave popcorn, and popcorn seasoning
  • A candle and a lighter
  • A wine bag and a bottle of wine
  • A Google Play giftcard
I had her go with the kiddo to play for 15 mins before bed, and I hid things in various locations around the house. Each hiding place had a card with a rhyming clue to where the next one was, and I left the first one sitting out on the coffee table. So we did a Scavenger Hunt Date night! She followed all the clues to find out what our date was (Xmas movie of choice!) It was a blast and we had a great time for about $25.

We don't have any family in the area and don't really feel comfortable with a baby sitter we don't know personally so planning out ideas at home is quite fun. Got any other suggestions?

Awesome News

You guys should go union

We are a Right to Work state here
Unions are taboo in the South. You can be fired for just saying the word Union if you are not already in a Union shop.
I spent a summer with a union organizer and we got escorted off a property by the police just for asking employees if they would want organize. Yeah its that illegal down here.

One thing to remember about the bears kicker is that he scored 3 field goals before the missed kick. My question is what was the rest of the team doing. I hope everyone has safe travels on the way to Disney.

But its the nature of sports that if you have a potential walk off win, and the guy fluffs it, he's gonna get heat. Same if a striker scored 2 goals, it ends 2-2 and he's the guy that misses in the penalty shoot out. The thing is if Parkey had missed 3 all season and doinked, or double doinked, he wouldn't be getting the grief he is. He lives in the Windy City. He kicks outside for a living, and his aim is off. I just don't think anyone tags him as good enough, and that was crystallised last night.
Just MHO.

True. Do their job exceedingly well, and nobody notices. One screw-up, and they're roasted over the coals.

As a Bills fan all I can say is "Wide Right". :headache:

Ouch. Our fiscal years runs July1-June 30 so my flex spending is almost gone already and that is why most people in the College of Ag are gone in June when they should be in the field.

Another year?! I'm lucky to stay out of the woods for a week. :rolleyes2

Happy birthday to your DW. My oldest has a January birthday (15th) so I get it. I still haven't bought her anything.

Got any other suggestions?

?

One idea. It only take 3 minutes, so there is still a whole lot of time left. :lmao:

Those are some clever ideas. I wish I had some to share. Not sure how we survived those first few years of marriage as too many brain cells have been drowned in bourbon.

I'm surprised they let you live. But, without unions, you get to work 3 jobs for all that extra pay.

That's our FY as well, but open enrollment is October and insurance is Jan to Dec. We had this happen a decade ago. DW had a scan in December. By the time the company billed for it, we had changed insurance companies. The new insurance company didn't cover it naturally, and the old company said that coverage wasn't in effect. The bill got turned over to collections. We challenged it, and since I had the old insurance cards, was able to prove coverage and didn't have to pay.
