This was what I was going to say, though the food court hasn't been redone yet though there's hope it will be. While most of what I ate at the food court was pizza because I think it's good and it's a huge slice that is really two, there are a lot of options. They have the wood fired pizza now too not just the other but I think you have to get the entire pizza. But they do have a lot of options if you look closely. The turkey, mashed potatoes etc always look good but I don't want something so heavy. The pasta is decent and the meatballs are good. I'm not a huge fan of the sauce they use but I think they have two options. I had breakfast one day too which was good, Mickey waffles are the same all over property as are the scrambled eggs and sausage. I've never had a bad meal there and will eat there a few times on my next trip. Once I was solo this past trip I took afternoon breaks and then ate and early dinner before I went back to the parks for the evening. Much harder to go all day when you're alone without someone to keep you going and awake. The food court at AOA had different options, we went in 2016 and it wasn't that there was more variety just some different things. But at Pop you really need to look at the options to the right of the pizza which also generally doesn't have a line but that's where she would have found stuff.
My poor neighbors...they had NEVER been to WDW and chose to go the week over Christmas. I tried to warn her about the crowds but she insisted they had to been to DLR (like 10 years ago) over Christmas and the place was a 'ghost town'. I have never been to either over Christmas so I think she didn't really think I knew what I was talking about lol. She was completely overwhelmed the entire trip. Like melting down and crying multiple times whenever her 3yo had a meltdown or one of the other kids. I think they still had a good time and they did love Pop (though she says if they go back, they want walkability to the parks...okay, so you also need a lot more $$$). Anyways, it is entirely possible she missed the healthier options at Pop. She eats a lot of plant based foods, more than meat, and she mentioned AoA having more options for that.

So after three tries I finally got was able buy a MO with a Visa gift card! The first two tries were definitely user error - the first time I picked credit instead of debit as my form of payment, the second time I thought I knew the pin number because I had read it's usually the last 4 digits of the card and I had quickly looked at the packaging and didn't see the pin, but after looked closer I saw the pin inside. So finally success! I got the MO from my local Dillon's store (Kroger). The cashier didn't seem to care to see me swipe the card at all. Not sure that I'll do much of this in the future, I haven't researched much to know if there's a way to make it very profitable based on the cards that I have. But, if I get in a bind and need to meet an MSR or if I want to try to put some spending on my Amex's to get out of their doghouse, I wanted to know if it was at least an option.

There used to be an additional $25 bonus (25,000 URs) for adding an AU on freedom but I think they eliminated that. Regardless l, I believe it had to be done within the first few months of account opening so a 10 yr old card wouldn’t have qualified even when a bonus did exist.

Does your dd bank at the same bank as you? @Lain tried to explain this to me before but I never did much beyond opening my own Venmo.

Yes. I had them set up a while ago. So, I can go online and see all 3 accounts (Mine & DH's, DD17 and DS19). I am able to transfer money instantly between the accounts. Comes in very handy when they have to pay me for something (like payments on their new Iphones they had to have). I just go online every month and transfer money from their account to mine. Or when they want to put money in savings. (I have CAP 1 Accounts set up). I just transfer money from their account to mine and then transfer from that account to their Cap 1 Account -even though I still call in ING).

And that's entirely possible. There are vegetarian options but my recollection it leaned more towards pasta and sandwich type foods or a salad - I think there was always a salad on the menu. I think we ordered a veggie lo mein once, but again, that's more pasta than anything. It's one area they could improve, but being a value resort they seem to keep to the cheap meals and usually veggie doesn't equal cheap - unless it's in a pasta!

ETA: Oh and YIKES to going over Christmas. The fact that they did that and willing to go back again must mean they had a good time somewhere. That's not something I'll ever attempt.

This is how ours is as well with our teens. I just wondered if that would be a problem for Venmo. Sounds like it worked fine :) I transfer money between us all pretty much everyday. So handy!

Off Topic--I'm planning a conference in Orlando and going down in a few weeks to visit Marriott Grande Lakes, Wyndham Grand Bonnet Creek, and Hilton Orlando (plus visiting my parents in Napless--maybe I'll get them to figure out how to maximize their Amex Platinum and Gold benefits!). At our conference this year which was held in Virginia horse country, we rented a bus one night and went to a really casual local winery. It was great because everyone got to unwind and network. Really low key and fun. Also, it was considerably cheaper than staying at the resort where the conference was held and doing a wine tasting. We want to do something similar in Orlando but it's such a different area I am at a loss. Looking for casual and intimate. Any fun but low-key suggestions?

ETA-The conference will be in mid-November.

Unless you have a clear use for the IHG points down the line, I’d agree with your plan. IMO It’s always nice to keep flexible points (URs) and use program specific points first when it makes sense.

I value UR's much, much higher than IHG points. I'd use those and top off with 5k UR's, if it were me.

@wendow and @SouthFayetteFan

Thanks for weighing in. I feel the same way with UR’s but wanted to bounce this off our experts here, in case, I miss something.

Does your dd bank at the same bank as you? @Lain tried to explain this to me before but I never did much beyond opening my own Venmo.

First rule: DO NOT do P2P (using PayPal, Venmo, etc.) between family/relatives/people who share the same last name or address using Amex cards. There are lots of DPs that Amex will freeze your accounts and hit you with a mini-FR.

2: Venmo payments make sense on the CIP because even though Venmo charges a 3% fee to use credit cards, the CIP earns 3x UR on the payment and the fee. And more importantly, Chase doesn't care about P2P payments between family/relatives/people who share the same last name or address.

3: Venmo cares somewhat if you're using their platform for MS, and will freeze or close your account (thus tying up any of your funds they're holding) if they think you're doing something shady. Venmo has tightened restrictions to limit users to adding only 4 credit/debit cards to your account in a rolling 6 months period. This limits the velocity and utility of liquidating certain MCGC/VGC gift cards as debit (and therefore no fee) through Venmo. Venmo also has limits on amounts transferred and withdrawn per week unless you take steps to verify your account.

4: Think of Venmo as only a conduit. If you are doing P2P between you and DD -- say you send $1k for "text books and lab fees" or "winter clothes shopping" or "new computer" to DD via Venmo, DO NOT have DD send the $1k back to you via the same conduit (i.e., Venmo). Have her withdraw the $1k to her bank, then write you a check or do an electronic transfer. Once the funds are withdrawn from DD's Venmo account, Venmo has no idea where those funds go next. Doesn't matter if DD has the same bank as you or not -- as long as she can get the money back to you to pay your CC bill and as long as she doesn't use Venmo to transfer the funds back to you.

5: It's a good idea to "season" your Venmo account to establish some pattern or history of transfers, so the occasional $500 or $2000 doesn't look like a big deal. For your college aged DD, it looks totally natural for a caring mom to send money for textbooks, lab fees, club dues, tuition, shopping, fun, ski trips, spring break, etc. Be creative. Use those emojis. :)

Ah yes, there is is, Me and @wendow ... getting lumped in together on another comment IDing is as experts. It’s just a shame she can’t attain ultimate nirvana by experiencing the sheer euphoria of being a spreadsheet wizard. :P :P

(Totally just posted this comment for @vanjust14 - in like 12 hours she’ll like this comment and burst out laughing)

You’re welcome my man! Hope all is well - I feel like you’ve been quiet around here for awhile :)
All is great. Pre-Christmas was crazy busy then we were at WDW (where I tried to limit my phone use to FP refreshing) for 10 days 12/23-1/1. Haven’t been able to catch up on reading the millions of new pages on this thread so I’m going to try to keep current starting today.

Here’s where I’m at currently: Waiting for those SW Biz and Plus points to post so we can get CP#2 for 2019. Just booked a great hotel in Sevilla using URs through CSR portal and about to book a few nights in Madrid as well. At that point my meager UR stash will be almost gone so I need to replenish. I’ll be applying for CIC for P2 soon. Need more points!

I can't help but burst out laughing that you equate spreadsheet wizardry with sheer euphoria :rotfl:You really need to get out of that recliner more lol!

Also, posting for @vanjust14. We gotta keep her laughing :D

I guess @wendow will just have to settle for being perfect.
Well, just "practically perfect"

~of course my dh and kids have experienced my burned toast, crazy driving, bed head hair, bad singing, embarassing texas twang...they may say something different about me

You know it's bad when your phone autocorrects 'tall' to 'y'all' LOL! I was texting with a client yesterday about her kid's height and rides and it kept changing tall to y'all!

@Lain I use Venmo all the time. If DH gets an account we should set him up with a different bank account? Would occasional payments to him be ok from me?

Think we got the Citi AA Biz around the same time back in July? Almost entirely forgot about the $250 credit o_O

Did you just buy a $250 GC directly from the AA site? Specific denominations? Thanks! :thanks:

I got this Citi AA biz last summer and my offer was for $200. Yup, just bought a $200 virtual GC direct from AA. Haven't tried to sell it anywhere yet, just have it hanging out in case something pops up on the forefront, but it seems unlikely.
