*** The Official August 2019 thread ***

Oh I missed that he was having a meet and greet. I'll have to check this out. You have a pretty solid set of plans already. Have you done BBB before? My daughter did it on the cruise and it was my favorite moment of our vacation. She loved it and you could tell she really felt like a princess. She's 6 years old and all of the younger girls that saw her walking around really thought she was Belle. A mom even asked her to take a picture with her 3yo because the 3yo wanted to take a picture with little Belle.

I know DD will be so excited about the Ralph meet! I also saw incredibles is coming too! So she is going to be happy about that!

She hasn’t done BBB yet, last trip she wasn’t much for dressing up so I canceled it. She is into dressing up now and her cousins are doing it to so I have a feeling she will love it. Just can’t decide what day is going to be better to plan this for!

She's 5 months now and will be 13 months when we go! I'm so excited! I also have a 5yo so I was considering renting one of those keenz stroller wagons. Also plan on utilizing the baby care centers when we need a break. Any tips are appreciated!

He is our first so we just brought his stroller and carseat with us actually but this next trip I think we are bringing just an umbrella stroller or he just got a radio flyer like lay-flat stroller/wagon thing for Christmas that folds up like a stroller and looks pretty cool (although idk if it can block the sun very well so we may just still opt for the umbrella stroller) so I dont have a ton of suggestion for stroller rental but I have seen a million rentals so I am sure its a fairly easy thing.

The biggest thing was the child care centers, I do not think we would survive without them. Other than that, just realizing just how many rides he really could go on, it really is a lot, especially in MK.

Whats everyone's opinion on Tusker House for Breakfast? I am hearing very mixed reviews but I think it might be the best place for breakfast at AK no?

We love TH for breakfast. The bread pudding is so good. The food is one of the best for the character breakfasts imo and we have always had great character interaction. Our servers have been great too. I like to book a late breakfast (10:45ish) so picky eaters can eat all the breakfast foods and I can try some of the lunch offerings.

Oh the Incredibles would be fun too. I haven't been keeping up with the different character meets. I was too involved in the cruise planning that i missed all these fun Disney World changes.

She's going to love it!

Who wants to critique my plans!!!

All subject to change so give all the feedback!

August 23-30, 6 adults 3 kids (5,5,7) one infant, staying at the Yatch club.

Arrival day, hoping to land around 2- pool maybe head to epcot and try to grab an ADR. Book FP for epcot, if we skip them that’s fine

Day 1 24th - AK try to be there around 8, do safari, lion king, some trails, lunch at tusker House around 11 maybe a few more rides/shows head back to the hotel by 2. Pool relax maybe head to epcot maybe not. FP for safari, Navi river ride (assuming we can get it) Lion King

Day 2 25th - EMM at MK, up and out of the hotel by 7 the latest take Minnie Vans to MK. Breakfast around 930, FP for Speedway, space mountain (maybe), barnstormer. Head out by 1,2 the latest. Pool relax Artist point dinner 6pm (probably take Minnie Vans again), if up for it some people may go back to MK (see fireworks)

Day 3 26th - water park, try to be there around 10am. Stay till be are tired 2/3/4? Head back to the hotel shower change maybe hit up epcot, will book FP but if we miss them no big deal (waiting to see if Ralph has FP for meet), try to see illuminations or whatever show is going on.

Day 4 27th - option one, BBB early 8am and CRT around 10:30/11? FP princess meets and enchanted tails with belle hang out at MK till we are done. Relax at hotel Epcot for dinner
Option two pool in the morning and get FP for flight of passage in the afternoon and head back to AK

Day 5 28th - EMM HS hit up toy story rides then breakfast some shows and head back to the hotel when ready. Epcot for dinner maybe Rose and crown or other? Suggestions? (Not the Princess meal or garden grill). Will probably use FP at Epcot but maybe HS for tower of terror and such.

Day 6 29th - depends what we do on day 4 if we did BBB we will FP FoP for early afternoon and maybe pool in the morning. Spend afternoon and AK. If we did AK on day 4 we will relax at the hotel maybe do the pool then early afternoon BBB 3? Then dinner at CRT at 5/530. Hang out at MK till when ever, same FP for the MK day.

Day 7 30th departure day shed all the tears, Cape May breakfast head to airport.

Thoughts? All the opinions welcome!

Your touring style is really close to ours.

I like CRT better for lunch. We aim for 11:30 for there first lunch seating and it’s quick. We are usually out at in an hour.

Thanks for the feedback! Ok so many I’ll go with MK day 4 with early BBB and mid day CRT.

My biggest fear with this plan is not going back to MK again....but could always go on the last night of people wanted to.

We love it, very good breakfast choices and the characters are so fun! We have done it at least 4 times and only 1x our service was not the best.

Just booked our August Trip, August 19-27 staying at Caribbean Beach. It will be my 11 year old son and me. The babies are staying home. Don't think I could do a 1 year old, 2 year old and 11 year old by myself.

You've been added to the roll call.

Gonna keep picking your brains here: Sci Fi Drive In or Prime Time for Dinner in HS? Its just going to me and DW this night, and we wanted to get to HS to see Toy Story Land at night and the new projection show (not sure how long its going to stay) so we thought we would do dinner in HS. The other choice is to do dinner near the hotel (we are staying at Beach Club) then head to HS but I am thinking we should just get to the park and not dilly dally around the resort area, unless you the HS table service restaurants are just not worth it?

Having the same issue! We chose Mama Melrose. We’ve eaten there before and it was alright. If you’re at
Beach club though that’s very close, maybe try Yachtsmans, it’s excellent. If you want to be in the park there are slim pickings. We’re at Old Key West and I thought maybe eat at Olivia’s before we go into the park at night, but then I decided against it because I’m sure were going to be having a few breakfasts/lunches during our 10 days. Then I thought maybe take the boat into Disney springs to eat then catch the bus to HS, but I had the same thought you did to just get into the park and not dilly dally. If I were you though, you are so close I would do Yatchsmans, or even go over to boardwalk and do Flying Fish, which for me I have to say is my favorite right now in WDW!

Just listened to the dis unplugged WDW news for 1/15/19, and they think there's a good chance food and wine will start earlier as Disney seems pretty desperate to get people to come in late summer/early fall.

I was just wondering when they would announce it. They announced the parties so early so assuming this will be announced early too. To be honest I’m hoping it doesn’t start to early!

We've eaten at both Sci-Fi and Prime Time. I would say they are both solid choices but you won't eat anything mind blowing there. The atmosphere in Sci-Fi is a lot of fun. We all got burgers there and they were very good. Prime Time has comfort food. I had a sampler platter which had meatloaf, fried chicken and pot roast. I really liked it and it was a lot of food. So much food that I couldn't finish it and my server fed me the veggies I left on my plate. The kids still talk about this a year and a half later.

If you are looking in the Boardwalk area, we have only eaten at the Cape May Cafe in the Beach Club and Trattoria on the Boardwalk. The Cape May dinner buffet is seafood and it was pretty good. I'm considering doing it again this trip but we also want to try new places. Trattoria was decent but I don't think I'd go back for dinner. Do you have park hoppers? You could always do dinner in the Epcot World Showcase then take the boat to HS.

I've heard good things about Yachtsman and Flyin' Fish but we haven't tried them yet.

we love burgers so if they are pretty good that might work for us. we are actually annual passholders so we could go to epcot but we are already going to epcot 2 days so I am thinking HS or the resort area will be best. Yachtsman is definitely a must hit for us this trip, it looks amazing, just deciding if we should do it this night or another of our child free date nights :)

I loved our meal at Sci Fi Diner! The atmosphere is so unique and the food was good! We plan to bring the kids to 50's Prime Time on our August trip, they're old enough to handle the abuse lol

Joining in for a long Labor Day weekend (8/30-9/2). We are not officially booked for this particular trip (we have about 8 planned for 2019) but I have priced it out. We have APs so we only need the room and the Sun & Fun deal looks good. We will probably do CBR. We are on a mission to stay at as many resorts as we can. CBR and CSR are similar in price but I think we are doing CSR in July. Of course, if AP rates are better, all bets are off. Probably will do MNSSHP on the 30th.

The Disney tourist blog had a nice post about CBR a month or 2 ago. It was comparing it to the Poly. It was a good read and a lot of pictures.

Thanks!
I have stayed there before but its been years...and I mean years and years...
We used to do moderates but bought into DVC so its been awhile. We don't have nearly enough points for 8 trips so we are playing resort roulette this year. So far we have Pop for March, POFQ for May, WL for June, and CSR for July. Other than CBR, not sure about the other trips we are looking at (Oct, Thanksgiving, and hopefully AP previews for SW).

I am really excited about the changes at both CSR and CBR!

What a fun 2019! I like trying all the different resorts. I think it's fun.

We enjoyed both Sci-Fi, and 50's Prime Time. Sci-Fi I really enjoy the atmosphere. 50's, I felt the food was a bit better. I also enjoyed Mama Melrose's, and like the food there a bit better than either of the other two.

I'm hoping. We missed it by just a few days last year. This year, we are there two weeks earlier, but a guy can dream, right?

Oops, misunderstood.
I still think they will start Food & Wine earlier, and that it will be announced earlier as well.
