I don't think I have ever heard anyone say that before.
Thanks for the comment, because I would love to explain why I adore the Disney buses! I grew up riding buses in the city. I didn't like them much; they were dirty, sad, and had no air conditioning. When I first got on the Disney bus, I was blown away. This thing was so awesome! It was big, roomy, shiny, new, and above all, had killer air conditioning! And it had a way of loading scooters by tilting to one side (there must be a hydraulic lift in there). How incredibly neat!
Most of the time when we ride the bus, they are fairly empty because we avoid riding at park closings (we take the taxi then if we stay that late, but we mostly don't.) In the morning, it can be crowded, but as long as we don't have to wait forever for it (we almost never do), we don't mind the crowd or standing in the bus. I normally don't like standing still because my legs hurt, but I can stand in a Disney bus for 20 minutes, I don't feel a thing! I don't know why that is, maybe it's the excitement of being on a Disney bus.
The best part of the Disney bus is the air conditioning. We love the air conditioning after a hot day in the park (or only just a hot walk from the hotel room). It cools our bodies and calms our souls! My kids actually refuse to take taxis when it's hot out and prefer to take the bus instead because sometimes the taxis have weak air conditioning. (We once got on a taxi with no air conditioning. It made my kids appreciate the buses a lot more.)
There was once we got wet in the rain and then got on an almost empty bus. Almost froze to death. Loved it!
And nowadays, there's that awesome app that shows when the buses are coming. During our last trip, we never waited for more than 5 minutes for the bus when we were leaving the hotel. I wish Disney would publish all the bus schedules from the parks also. There's no app to show you when the monorail is coming--or IF it's coming. That things goes down a lot.
I am OK with the monorail. Their air conditioning isn't near as powerful as the bus's, and sometimes it smells like a barn (ew). I absolutely hate the boats. They are so slow and hot and old, they drive me crazy. I always walk from Epcot to HS and beat the boat getting there!
The buses are one big reason I prefer Disney World to
Disneyland. There were no buses there! It was so weird!
Sometimes I get cool bus drivers. One driver taught me this: What has 8 eyes, 8 arms and 8 legs?
Answer: 8 pirates.
There were many times we saw the bus from a long ways away, like in MK, and we run all the way down the long stretch of bus stops to catch the bus. And it was such a thrill to catch one, it was like catching a fish! Unfortunately, I'm getting too old for all that running, so I won't be doing that anymore. Last year I developed muscle cramps from all that running.
The only transportation as wonderful the buses is the Minnievan. That thing has superb air conditioning such that you can control your seat area temperature. Unfortunately, it's not dependable. There were many times we tried to get it and it was nowhere to be found. They raised the prices during our stay by a lot, and that helped, but even then, it's like going fishing. You wait and hope that you catch one.
So, the conclusion is, the buses are the best!
The coming gondola poses a problem for me: I have to enter Epcot from the front. I can't go in through the back door. So, I won't be taking the gondola to Epcot or HS. But coming back at night, when air conditioning is no longer an issue, I would say that the gondola might beat the buses, depending on how long the wait is. If it's less than 5 minutes, then the gondola will beat the buses. Though I hope it doesn't start to smell like the monorail. If it does, then the buses are still the best!
