Transportation from SNA to hotel....favorite options

would appreciate some recommendations for transportation from SNA to the Tropicana for two adults. I would prefer to utilize either a shuttle, bus or taxi. Not super comfortable with Uber as an option( it’s the small town fear in me). I could also use some input on what time to plan to leave for the airport for our trip home mid day during the week. Yep, I usually just book packages so I never have to consider these things!
Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions!

Uber is my go to.

...but other than that we just hop in a taxi. They are readily on standby as soon as you walk out the door

I hate shared shuttles and don’t wanna wait for the scheduled Disneyland Express bus

I almost always use Uber of Lyft, but I understand your hesitation. In your case, I would say a taxi. It ran somewhere around $40-45 last I checked. The shuttle can be a cheap option but it has been a few years since I used the shuttle that I'm not sure what the current price is. I always did shared shuttles before Uber came along and it worked fine for me--shuttle wait was usually very short and the cost at that time, with coupon (you can search and find them), was $10 pp. Obviously, the more people in your group, the better off you are with a taxi. Honestly, in your situation I'd agree with ParkHopper1 and suggest a taxi. No wait, no fuss, no other stops.

Well we don't have great advice then because we would only use Uber to do that trip these days. It's far too fast, easy, safe and affordable to bother with any of those other options you listed. A cab will cost you 2-4 times as much as Uber or Lyft and they are often dirty and drive horribly. The shuttles can be pricey AND take forever. Most of them stop at other hotels on the way to yours, so after waiting for about half an hour on average just to get picked up the ride to your hotel often blooms to well over an hour as you get the scenic tour of Anaheim via everyone else's hotels. The bus is cheap but inconvenient and slow. With no babies needing car seats you might want to reconsider Uber. The drivers have to pass background tests, they can only continue driving for Uber if they keep getting good ratings, so they don't drive too fast or eradicate like the cabs often do because they want your 5 star rating at the end of the trip. In the Disney area many have water bottles to offer you, snacks for free or purchase, play Disney music in their car, it really isn't a negative experience at all.

Also, if you've never used Uber of Lyft before, you can get a really good introductory deal for a free ride (up to $15 or something, so not totally free to DLR but really cheap!). Be sure to look it up before you download the app.

We used Lyft in Nov. 2018 - and it was fine. They are picking up in the garage at SNA now - but just follow the signs.

Honestly, the taxi's scare me more. With Lyft or Uber, there is a record of who is driver is, and who you are before you ever get in the car.

Thanks so much for all the input! I think I am just going to have to try either Uber or Lyft! I might as well try something new! Once again...Thanks so much!

We always Uber or Lyft as it’s about $20-$25 instead of $45 for a taxi but taxis are readily available if that’s what you’re most comfortable with.

If you have access to a good corporate rate and are staying near Harbor/Katella, National one way car rental!

We always use Uber or Lyft. It's a little less convenient now that the pick up location has been moved to the parking structure but still cheap and easy.

While I can understand the apprehension to an Uber having never used it before...I have had way more sketchy taxi drivers!

Another option is Lansky's Car Service -- more expensive than Uber or taxi but offers more service, too. Helps with luggage and includes a short grocery stop on the way to the hotel. Gets good reviews here.
Otherwise, one more vote for Uber/Lyft.

Yes another vote for Lansky's here! They do everything including carrying your luggage out of the airport and into your hotel!!

I usually choose Lyft if I have that as an option. The drivers usually work for both companies, Uber and Lyft, however as I have a choice I prefer to use a company that treats their employees/associates better. So I go with Lyft. I had some issues in LA last May with credit cards and rental car reservations and had to use Lyft for a couple days while it was getting straitened out. (Coming from Canada these things happen) I was very pleased with every driver we had (probably about 10 of them over the course of a few days) and they were all fantastic drivers, cars were clean and they engaged with me and my daughters and we had some cool conversations while maneuvering through that crazy traffic...lol.
Good luck with your decision, and have a great trip!

We have used a car service, but last several trips have just done Lyft (I have had better experiences with them than Uber, though both are usually fine). I get a lot of female drivers (don’t know if that is because I am a woman and they match that up or just random), but all drivers we have had have been nice, prompt and safe drivers.

As PP said, pick up for Lyft is NOT where the taxis pick up. It is in another nearby location, so follow the signs.

My preference is Lyft, I've had way more issues with cabs before. Uber/Lyft were a godsend (you couldn't rate your taxi driver for all the world to see way back in the day).

The Coach USA Disneyland Express has a stop on Harbor right by Tropicana Inn & Suites. I've used them and was very happy with service, but it would take longer since the first stops are going to be the on-park properties. https://dre.coachusa.com/ is the site.

I still vote Lyft :)
