Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Any recent reports on the status of K-cup coffee makers at BC? I know some have reported they’re in the process of swapping out the old pod machines, and I’m trying to decide whether it’s worth it to throw some k-cups into my carryon for the weekend. I don’t want to lug them along if I’m not going to be able to use them, but it’s worth it if there’s a good chance I’ll have a keurig. And if it’s still the pod machines in most rooms, is it still the meh Joffrey’s coffee pods?

This is really why DH prefers YC or having a CL room, so he doesn’t have to deal with my ongoing quest for drinkable coffee each morning. But the quest is a must, I need to be caffeinated for the safety of the other parkgoers.
It doesnt take up much space, throw them in!

If pods I do use 2 for each cup. That does help.

We will be there this weekend too! Weather is looking GOOD!

What a different experience than we had. I assume you used ME? We used it for only the second time on Sunday the 3rd. It took about 2.5 hours to get to YC. We have not had good luck with ME either time.

Oops, I see I had a typo. We actually landed at 10:00 and got to the BC around 11:30. So about a half hour more but that does include a restroom break and walking through the airport. I think we were the last family to board the bus which meant we didn't have to wait around too long although it did make stops at CBR and Boardwalk first but it was pretty fast.

We had good luck that day--even the bus to MK arrived very quickly. Then DH decided he wasn't a fan of my Fast Pass for Splash Mountain so I changed it while we had lunch and got 7DMT for 1:00! If only all days went so perfectly. :-)

I’ve been away from this board for some time due to work travel and crazy schedules. But, my planned vacation for my crazy January-February work life starts on 2-23. I modified my reservation from YC water view to YC Club standard view. I hope that was a good decision. We’ve done CL at BWI, but not at YC. DH really likes sitting on the balcony and watching Epcot fireworks, but I’d been checking for CL with my AP discount for weeks and the standard view just showed up today. I know we will have a good time no matter, but I’m second guessing myself now. First world issues.

We just stayed in a yc cL standard room and had one of the best trips ever. I wouldn’t second guess yourself. You’ll have a great time

ETA: I’ll add that I thought our view from our room was actually pretty good for a standard view. We hated our view at bc. We may have just gotten lucky this trip. We were almost right above the car port so no ugly roof for us.

I would always choose a SV CL room over a better view non CL room at any resort, and I am one who really likes good resort views and fireworks from the balcony! i will say my YC SV CL room was one of the worse SV rooms I've had at any deluxe resort, but it still wasn't terrible, just nothing to make you want to hang out on the balcony to look at. It's just the nature of how the resort is built and it's architecture. I also have always felt that any fireworks view from a room at the Epcot resorts pales in comparison from the views from the MK resorts, so I don't really consider any Epcot resort rooms to have fireworks views and if you get a peak of some that is just a nice little extra. I still feel that the CL lounge and food/drinks overcomes that, and would easily choose the SV CL room over a WV regular room! I would have done exactly what you did, and the AP discount this time around is amazing!

So currently booked at the BCV 11/1-11/10 and decided to come in a few days early so staying at the BC 10/30-11/1 since the villas are now full. We will be there for Halloween. Any suggestions on what we can do that night for Halloween. We have a 4 year old and want him to be able to dress up but not planning on going to a park that day. Thanks!

I think a lot of resorts have special character meet and greets. You could make your way to different ones and meet characters

Hi all! I'm getting ready for my April/May trip at Beach Club and was able to book an Illuminations cruise, which I'm so excited for. The CM on the phone mentioned I could get catering on the boat. Does anyone have any experience with that? Good/bad/indifferent? I'm just wondering if it's worthwhile. I asked this question on the Theme Parks community board but I haven't received any responses so I thought I'd ask here since everyone has such great information. Thanks!
I’ve done this. Just call private dining. They will do anything from sandwiches to fancy finger foods. It is a little awkward juggling the plates but the food was delicious and we had so much extra that we shared with the boat beside us when we were tied up at the bridge to watch the fireworks. They were thrilled and happy to be beside us!! we actually made that our dinner that night.

I prefer the YC over the BC. It’s a lot quieter to me. We’ve had 2 stays at the BC and had issues both times. We were at the YC last October and we’re going back in May. If I were you, I’d request close to the elevators- it can be a real hike to some rooms.

We go a lot, but haven’t ever been in May as my kids are teachers. So, I’m stealing my grandson and off we go. I’m hoping for not quite so hot and fingers crossed, maybe not so crowded.

I don't have this trip on the Be Our Guest list, so I will add it.

:goodvibes

Just booked Marathon Weekend 2020! Can you please add me to the BOG list for BCVs; 1/8 - 16/20? Never too early to start training...or at least thinking about it! :snail:

Of course!

:cheer2:

A quick update from our Jan trip at BC. We stayed in room 4643. We had a nice Juliette balcony looking towards BWI. I was happy sitting in bed and looking out. The 1st 2 nights during the day it sounded like someone was moving furniture above us, then quiet for a couple of days, then the last 2 like children were running. It didn’t really bother us much. All the CMs we encountered were friendly at BC & it was clean. Everything was perfect until our last full day, when I started to not feel so great. A couple days later my DH wasn’t feeling well either. After all these years & trips, it finally happened, we had gotten the notorious Disney virus (insert dramic music, lol). DH bounce back quickly, as for me, (I do not have a robust immune system unfortunately) it turned into bronchitis & after 3 weeks I’m finally starting to feel better. There were a lot people coughing throughout the parks and we did our best with hand sanitizer & frequent hand washing, guess it wasn’t enough. But catching a virus would never stop us from going back. We’re book for September at BWI!

Thanks so much for the feedback about your trip. So sorry to hear that you have been sick since your return.

Thanks everyone for the replies, talked to DH about it and we agreed that it was worth the extra $300. But boy was it a pain to switch, the first call the CM couldn't find any availability at YC - had her upgrade our BC to club level, it was almost $400 more. Then I hoped online in saw that they had YC Standard View CL with standard discount available for less than our BC Pool View CL. I called back, the phone connection was awful but the CM did find what I wanted, but something was going on that she couldn't change our reservation and the call just ended. Called back a 3rd time, it took less than 2 minutes to get YC Standard View CL with military discount. woohoo.. Our 8/13-8/15 BC is now YC CL!

I'll update your listing.

:woohoo:

Hi friends! I will be down in 10 days for a conference at YC..... just there in August and LOVE LOVE LOVEDDD it!! Cant wait to be back!! I was wondering if anyone has been for a conference and if so, what kind of room did you get? We LOVED the garden view room we had in August but for this, only had one option of room ( I asked!) to book. When I look at my special group confirmation page, it says standard view. I noticed on touring plans that there are only a handful of standard view rooms (not nearly enough to accommodate this huge conference I dont think! I was wondering if there was a certain location for conference rooms or if I could pay for an upgraded room upon arrival since I booked with a group? Thanks everyone! Cant wait to be home!

I don't have your upcoming trip on the list, so I will add it.

I am not aware that there is a particular location where convention guests are booked, other than they do tend to be the standard view rooms.

My advice- see what room you are assigned to and if you are interested in upgrading then before getting settled, check with the front desk about your options.

We are beyond excited for our first stay at Beach club July 20-24th ( then swapping to 4 nights at the Polynesian). Need help with room recommendations for a standard view on the resort side. I would say a full size balcony is the most important to us as we will sit up some nights outside after DS is in bed. I have looked at touring plans site and it is hard to tell which rooms have full size and which have the juliette balconies.

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15. A Beach Club/Poly split stay will be awesome!

I agree with the previous advice of just requesting a full balcony if that is your most important request.

:thumbsup2

So I have a few questions about these cabanas. I called today to reserve a half day on May 20th. We just got our waitlist for BCV for the 15th-22nd. The cost with tax was $211. This isn’t something we would normally do, but it will be our first warm weather trip with my daughter, who turns one the day before we leave. I thought guaranteed shade for her on our pool day would be nice. I read on here that a half day was 10-3 but the lady I booked with told me it was 4 hours? Do we know which is correct? Also, where are they building these? Is it closish to the sandy/ zero entry area for my daughter? Thanks!

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the list.

:cool1:

Very excited to say that we are staying the YC 9/29 - 10/6 with free dining. I haven't been to Disney since 2011 and my fiancée has never been. We are truly excited to be going and can't wait to stay at the YC.

:welcome: to the thread!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

The Yacht Club is in a great location for enjoying a first trip/first trip in a while.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Well when we were at BC last September we booked a bounce back and could not get BC again and were given YC instead. When they released free dining I had my travel agent see if she could move us back to BC. Thankfully she was able to. I am soooooooooooo glad. Now I am just hoping I can request the same room we had last year for our anniversary. We really enjoyed the view and the room. I'll be sending a fax request for our Sept stay this year. Crossing my fingers. Now have to wait to book the dining reservations. 26 days till then.

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the list.

What did you really like about the room last year?

You certainly may request the same room that you had, but we always caution that the chance of getting a particular room is small because the resorts are often fully occupied and it requires that guests are checking out of that particular room on the day you are checking in. Make sure the room assigners know what is important to you- Full balcony? A particular location? A certain view.

::yes::

We got home at 1am yesterday after our Sunday - Friday stay.

*snip*

Thank you so much for the detailed review of your trip, and your unique story!

Did you mention the room number for your second room?

Thanks, again!

:thumbsup2

Do you mind sharing what the annual pass discount was and how far in advance they release the discount?

I do have to say there is something really special about being able to watch the Illuminations fireworks from the comfort of your balcony at night. I'll now choose to pay more for the water view every time. But I've never done CL at Yacht - I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time either way!

I spoke with Recreation department today. I was told 10-2 or 3-7 for half or 10-7 for full, and I had to be a guest at the hotel to rent.

I booked for August today. I was quoted $211 for 1/2 day and charged $318 for full day. He definitely mentioned seasonal pricing.

:welcome: to the forum and thank you so much for helping to clarify the info about the cabanas.

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on page 1, Post 15. Beach Club, Yacht Club or BCV?

We just returned from a lovely stay at the Beach Club. It was our first time there (although we've stayed at Boardwalk and the Dolphin multiple times) and we loved it. We were in room 4556. It was right by the single elevator and next to the ice machine. Luckily, not too many people get ice because you could really hear it in our room. We were facing the villas but if you leaned out to the right, you could watch the higher fireworks in Illuminations. It had a slightly bigger balcony than the one next door to us. No daybed in the room. We arrived at the airport at 10:30 a.m. and were at the BC by 11:30. Our room wasn't ready yet so we dropped our carry-ons at Bell Services and headed to MK. We ended up getting the text that the room was ready around 12:30.

We really enjoyed the resort. We had a little trouble with housekeeping midweek--they seemed to have just skipped our room for two days in a row although someone came in the room to leave us some DVC postcards with a note asking us to consider a tour. After a call to Housekeeping, they quickly brought us the items we needed and emptied our trash and they were back on track and got the room cleaned the next day. I know someone will ask--we were gone all day and did not leave the sign on the door--it was weird. In fact, when we left one day, housekeeping was cleaning the room across from ours and I told her we were going to be gone.

It was a great trip. We went to HS and MK After Hours events and will definitely do them again. The weather warmed up nicely which was fabulous after we fled the polar vortex. Thanks to all on this thread--I definitely read through several times before the trip to get excited about it.

:welcome: to this thread.

Thank you so much for the feedback about your trip. I'm glad to hear you had a great time.

I appreciate the details about your room. I'll add the description to the Beach Club Room View/Description thread.
